The Dark Knight I hope The Dark Knight isn't based around winter

That's funny.

To all you people saying "snow won't fit into Nolan's world," watch the first half of BEGINS, I am pretty sure I saw alot of snow there....:batman::up:

:D
:batty:

When the second movie take place in winter, Joker and Batmans should celebrate Christmas together, lol.

Y'know, though a lot of people are saying who cares about the weather, seasons can be used as rather large thematic elements in movies - they certainly were in Batman Returns - and would I do I want said thematic element in TDK? Not particularly. But I certainly wouldn't complain if Nolan did it - as I'm sure he would do it well.

^^Bloody Christmas, indeed.

EDIT: Oh s***. Should have quoted ya Silverdragon.:D

I'd like it if the movie took place over a large timespan, since it's already borrowing elements from The Long Halloween. This way, we could have a scene or two with snow and such, yet the whole movie wouldn't be based around it. I mean, really, we already had a winter/christmas Batman movie. We dont need another.

...WOW. You know, I didn't actually think it was possible. But this forum has reached a new low once again with this "Realism" bullsh1t.

I actually read someone say SNOW wouldn't fit into Nolan's world. God this can't be any worse. My stomache is aching from all this laughter.

I completely agree. Even if someone didn't know the trivia about Gotham's fictional location in New Jersey, by all appearances it is a large northeastern American city (basically standing in for New York). And up here in the northeast, there's snow.

This thread is stupid, and downright strange. That, combined with the crappy grammar of the thread starter makes me wonder...

I completely agree about the idiotic "this won't fit in Nolan's world" crap. It seems to me that it has become a bandwagon catchphrase on this board, and that people who don't even understand what the hell "Nolan's world" is are saying it without thinking.

True, weather can be used thematically, and it can be important. But in the case of this thread, it really is "who gives a ****." The guy who started this thread didn't give any reason why snow shouldn't be used, besides "Batman should be in warm not cold." That's just...dumb.

Im all for winter. of course I dont wanna see a copy of burtons overstyled christmas-gotham but I always thought the dark side of the dark knight has the best impact when its freezin cold. Furthermore I think it could work good to have the film taking place in the beginning of a new year.

We should have a poll about in which season the sequel takes place:up:

they need to save winter for when they do a film with MR. FREEZE, imo.

mr. freeze is a must for Batman 4.

We must so bored that there is a thread about Gotham's weather! :joker: :batty:

lol well batman returns was set around christmas, so...and batman forever in da fall....:O

Well, I liked BR, but I really dont want Nolan's movies to be based around the winter.

Batman movies are summer blockbusters, so it isn't right thing.

Yes, most parts of sequels will be based on The Long Halloween, but I doubt Nolan will use the winter.

I think the beginning of fall is better than winter.

With winter, you get that really cool dark feeling, which I really loved in BR, and it looked cool in TLH, but if we see snow, it should be at the begining of the winter time. Some snow flakes falling down from the sky etc.

Either way, I think TDK will rock! :) Its kinda funny, every second batman movie has contained snow :p

btw, I'm new here.:)

wait a friggin' minute. What's wrong with people? Are they're actually people stating that snow would fit NOT in 'Nolan's World" due to realism? Am I correct?

I was laughing hard.

That is one of the most over-exgerrated attempts to display their lack of knowledge on Nolan's vision. It's so nerdy, that's it pathetic. Honest to God. It's lame. It's a movie, for God's sakes. HOY!

You are right.

But wouldn't it bother people, because TDK is summer movie and it would be too dark to have snow. So people might think that it is very cool and dark movie and they can change their mind to choose something another to see in theatres.

no, cinnamon.

Snow doesn't affect the atmosphere or the tone of the movie.

Yea, it does.

And that is why BR didn't make so much. Because people thought it was too dark and cool movie for summer blockbuster.

So the same can happen with TDK.

because of a prop? Snow. Ha. SURE Cinamon.

Well, anyway, it would be much better with using fall as the weather in sequels.

So did seeing the first half of BB being set in Tibet turn you off to it too?

1. It was just the beginning and bigger half of movie didn't have snow.

2. It wasn't so dark and cool scene comparing with how can look Gotham in the winter.

Do you have any clue about setting?

Setting completely affects the atmosphere and tone of a movie. It undoubtedly does. If there is snow in this setting then of course snow would affect the atmosphere and tone in some way.

my sincere apologies to Iambatman but this thread is SO STUPID! close it, why am i even posting?
