I thought Lexi liked PWZ?

She does, but felt screwed with the released date. They also fired her composer and brought a new one and was told to make the score like Dark Knight. Marvel stayed out of it cause Lionsgate paid for it.

I wouldn't call what he wrote back him up, other than that he was explaining why Trank had a meltdown during the film.

Well, it seems like he does feel for him. Heh.

Josh didn't get that chance, and his second major project, after one with total freedom, was one with intense oversight.

Narcissus, but I also saw Landis' tweets as an explanation of why Trank had a false set of expectations and why he was inexperienced and ill prepared to make the movie. Doesn't really seem to be a full-on defense of Trank and how he basically got screwed over by the system, executives, etc.

Reading it as a whole, it reads more like Landis is trying to say Trank had a juvenile approach because he was so inexperienced yet had an ego because of Chronicle. That's how I took it at least:oldrazz:

The line about not blaming anyone in particular just seemed like the obligatory professionalism statement. Professionalism being something that Landis is pushing as important after Trank's little debacle.

Here is the thing. If I was close friends with someone, even if they were in the wrong, i would never tweet on SOCIAL MEDIA "Karma" the day they got fired from a huge gig.

Something just tells me that while they might have had a positive working relationship and collaboration in the past, they are not close friends.

Eh, I'm not saying he is with him on this all the way but I don't see no ill by him towards Trank. Trank spoke really good of him in his interview.

I didn't see Landis's statement about the situation as exceedingly kind either. I think Landis supporting Trank is an overblown reading of what he actually said.

I wonder what Trank did for him to say that. Like Trank must have ****ed him over in some personal way.

Listening to Trank on Kev Smith's podcast, I don't get the impression that Max Landis & Josh Trank were ever buddies. Trank said he was with him in highschool or something (don't remember precisely) at some point and they had a sort of frenemies thing going on. Then, they went on their separate ways.

A few years later, Trank had the idea for Chronicle, and saw that Landis was on Facebook, they started chatting about it, Landis had some good ideas too and they just decided to work together. Always made it seem (also according to Max's tweets) that the collaboration on Chronicle was really smooth, so who knows really.

Maybe Max heard something since he pitched his take on FF at some point (per his twitter) that never went anywhere, so maybe he thought that Trank behaved badly, hence the "Karma", and then later, upon having more insight or intel on the situation, actually sided with Trank in a way.

Man I thought I was a DC shill but the Fox shills have me beat. The ability to spin every single little detail is so interesting.

Ah yes, it's pretty interesting when there are actually many sides to a story, is it not?

You have no idea. Been a regular on the FF board for over a year, and I've never seen anything like it. I'd consider myself a Marvel fanboy, I wear it on my sleeve and make no apologies about it, but I wouldn't ever turn my brain off and deny logic just to defend something I love.
Not saying anyone in here has done that recently, because pretty much everyone I'm referring to has disappeared completely since Wednesday or Thursday.

Didn't you deny MCU having a problem with their villains? :oldrazz:

Jk.

Josh Trank was verbally abusive toward Kate Mara according to a new update from EW. He did not want her in the movie and she was only cast because the studio insisted it.

Well if that's true then I guess he has some good directorial decisions. She and Michael were bad casting choices. But of course that is no excuse to be unprofessional and abusive.

Fox did not want Miles Teller in the movie. He was cast because Trank demanded it, the studio reluctantly agreed only if he cast Kate Mara as Sue which led to a ton of problems. Teller and Trank did not get along. Trank was also abusive toward Mara according to EW.

Damn. Got a link? I'm not having any luck finding an article that mentions this.
This explains why none of the cast defended him once his name began to be dragged through the mud.

Lol, well played.
But to clarify, I said the problems with their villains was overstated. But that's a conversation for another time. ;)

This reminds me of the episode of Entourage when the studio casts Vinnie Chase in that disaster movie after that Medellion movie. The director basically sabotages Vinnie because he didn't want him in the film and basically verbally and psychologically abuses him on set. The director then goes through a meltdown and gets the movie killed during production.

Stellan Skarsgaard played the director.

Damn. I'm going to have to look for this article.

Overstated doesn't make them wrong tho. But that convo is for another thread.

You're one of the few cool Marvel Zombies on here. We cool. :cwink: :oldrazz:

Yep, I'm definitely not perfect and have had my blind moments but lately I've been more realistic.

I try not to get so locked into my fandom that I deny possibilities and say that every single thing is amazing when it might not be. Like a film I'm looking forward to could suck, I'm not going to sit around and pretend it couldn't to make myself feel better. I'm not perfect but I will say this, if a DC film had the unbelievably tortured history that FF just had I would not ****ing deny that just because I am a fan. That's just silly. The movie may or may not suck but I wouldn't bury my head in the sand and ignore reality just to make myself feel better.

We all have our moments like that. But you're right, there were just so many undeniable things piling up against this movie that it became unprecedented.

I suspect Trank is one of those BS'ers and it comes naturally to him. Hearing his interview with KS, it sounds like a pretty good film. Lawd. Fox and Disney both tried to save face for him and he kicked them in the balls.

All the actresses who didn't get put in this film should be breathing a sigh of relief. They should also think twice before they say yes, despite all the potential comfort and wealth it could bring them.
