Fant4stic I think this deserves its own thread...Josh Trank denounces Fantastic Four

Oh my God, just read the thing about telling the actors when to breathe and blink. Why hire actors if you won't let them act? I wonder how flat their performances truly are now. That sounds insane.

And by the way, are the deniers here yet? I am sure they are ready to admit they were wrong.

Some of them are still defending Fox idiots and that turd movie.
'Those greedy bastards at Disney! GRRRRRRR'. Something like that.

Why when you can convince the fans and non-fans alike that it was all one man's fault. :gngl::sly:
I haven't seen one person on this board not blame Fox. If you don't want us to give Trank any blame then you are **** out of luck because he does deserve his share.

He definitely understood Doom from some of the things he said and it's a shame he wasn't able to play him.

I think he could make a great Doom if allowed to do it right, and if Marvel brought him on to play Doom in the MCU, I'd be behind that 100%.

That'd be too weird. I wouldn't mind if he got some other villanous role though. He's a hell of an actor.

Lol. They apparently can't fathom that removing three scenes from a movie days before filming means major rewrites while filming.

Fox's whole summer has done terrible. Even Spy stumbled.

That poster is taking any contrarian position they can. Sometimes they'll believe in the magic good version Trank would have pulled from a unicorn's daffodil scented rear end, sometimes Fox is to blame (but they'll get it right next time!), etc.

Anything to play contrarian.

Has he admitted that the naysayers were right?

Yeah, Trank is misunderstood; not a destructive addict who managed to piss off EVERYONE in the process including a rival studio (Lucasfilm). It was all the big bad corporation. :whatever:

Denial is still running strong.

Real talk: Fox probably slashed the budget because Tranq was already wasting money.

It's pretty obvious what happened. Disney paid off Trank to tank this thing. Only plausible answer.

Because Fox could claim his little tweet cost them millions at the box office.

What if this film suddenly starting getting rave reviews after a number of years when people have had time to reassess the movie? Then would Trank say that this was his cut after all? And would he retract his denouncement?

Trank's also got that civil suit thing in Louisiana, and if he claims he is being mistreated he could try filing a civil suit as well.

I wonder what he's going to do with his life now. He's become a complete laughing stock. Will he even be able to get any kind of job even not in directing when people find out what he was like with all his antics? He might end up a homeless hobo who clothes himself in tin foil and wraps himself in a green cape to keep warm. :o
I hear Baskin Robbins is hiring... :sly:

What is this?

His opinion written in a jpeg file.

Not quite... More of a humorous take on what seems to be the consensus opinion, taken from...

Looks to be from the start of Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the Fan4stic logo stuck in.

Yay! Somebody "got that reference!"

This is what people did for credits jokes before shawarma was invented. :o

"Those reshoots have been blamed for the poor quality of Fantastic Four, but the movie apparently didn't even have an ending when shooting concluded. Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker scrambled to come up with something, but the former's busy schedule and the fact that much of the cast was unavailable led to "a lot of material was shot with doubles and the production moved to Los Angeles to film scenes with Teller against a green screen."

I have been intrigued by what the original film was - not because I believe Trank had something great, but I'm curious how different it could have been.

I mean we saw the shots of Doom with his blankie in the leaked photos, so that was always part of it and presumably there was always some sort of show-down on "Planet Zero" from the start. So it's not like that's what they added.

The original script must have had some sort of story and ending, right? I mean why would they have green-lit it if it didn't? You don't need to film the whole thing before realizing it doesn't have a story or ending. You should be able to tell that by reading the script and you shouldn't start shooting until the script provides a story that would have to be better than what this film gave.

As bad as this was, it seems at one time there was something worse, and I can't help but be curious about what could have possibly been worse.

Keep in mind there were deadlines to start filming or else the rights would revert. You can always write as you go and film what's been written.

That being said, I tend to also believe the reports that three set pieces were cut to make it cheaper. Maybe one of the things cut was the ending. Of course, it seems Trank went into a shell when the studios interfered so he seems to have been no help in fixing it after that.

Were Trank's original 3 action scenes ever even filmed though? I thought I read that Fox slashed them during the scripting process.

The Thing being used as a weapon may or may not have not been one of those original action sets.

Major CGI set-pieces are almost always started from the beginning - sometimes even before filming starts. It's possible they started work on it and got that far before Fox nixed the idea. That would leave them with a partially-finished scene with enough footage to put in a trailer (it's possible they hoped to find some way to salvage the scene and weren't intentionally misleading people with the trailer, but it ultimately proved not enough).

Thank you Fox and Josh Trank for making this movie. I have yet to see it but the behind the scenes drama has been very entertaining so far :hehe:

Probably the only thing entertaining to come out of this fiasco.

Exactly. Fox is to blame for letting it get that far and hiring Trank in the first place but once this fiasco started, I can't fault Fox at all.

Trank is a loon and some spineless producers let this thing get out of hand as well.

Did you actually read my post?

No.

I'm saying Fox isn't even fighting about this movie. They are playing about the sequel.

They are trying to make it about the circumstances surrounding this movie that made it bad. "i.e." give me another chance in a new relationship and things will be different. They literally can't admit that they are the problem. The other two FF's happened under their studio, too.

ok

Whoever sent that e-mail reply to Trank desrves a pat on the back. From interviews I could imagine it could of been Kebbel. He seemed reasonably self aware in interviews that this wouldn't be taken well.

I think it was probably Teller but I wouldn't blame Kebbel. Dude wanted to play Dr. Doom and got saddled with Dumbashev instead.

Why when you can convince the fans and non-fans alike that it was all one man's fault. :gngl::sly:

No one thinks that and you know it. Please stop trolling these threads.

Yup.

I knew immediately what it was but since it has already been revealed it is doubtful anyone will believe me.

Mynd you, møøse bites Kan be pretti nasti...

This probably was already posted, but lawd.

Days before Fantastic Four opened, director Josh Trank sent an email to some members of the cast and crew to say he was proud of the film, which, he wrote, was "better than 99 percent of the comic-book movies ever made.""I don't think so," responded one castmember.

I bet my money on that cast member being Teller. :oldrazz:

:funny: Now that I understand the reference, that was actually quite clever.

Apparently that response was sent by email.
So, we will never know who sent it .
