I agree. If Marvel can get this sort of deal for X-Men along with FF, then they should definitely go ahead with it. I'm just not sure Fox would be willing to do that.

I'm not so sure. Marvel was willing to work with Sony on the Spidey deal because a) they had a strong incentive to protect their most popular and profitable character and b) Spidey is still a huge BO draw and should provide a big boost to Civil War.

What incentive does Marvel have to cut a similar arrangement with FOX regarding the X-Men? The X-Men don't move merchandise, even during the time that Marvel was pushing it. And the X-Men franchise is frighteningly short of BO draws. With Jackman retiring, Tatum's Gambit an unlikely draw and the recast X-Men kids unproven I don't see how crossovers benefit Marvel in the slightest.

Unless they work out a co-financing arrangement by which Marvel can benefit from the enhanced X-Men franchise, I don't see Marvel agreeing to a Spidey type of arrangement for the X-Men.

I think regardless of the face saving talk at Fox, some sort of agreement will be reached with Marvel to use some of the characters. To what extent that agreement will be, and to what extent it will be like the Sony is anyone's guess, but I think the idea that this film is getting a sequel, is whistling pass the graveyard.

No way. That's not to say they couldn't ( even though they'd be crazy)try to reboot the series again. That could happen.But there will be no F4 2 nor XMEN team up film. Its not gonna happen , and don't care what execs say to save face .

Not a chance in hell. Marvel is not going to use the cast-off crud from another studio. If they get it back, it *will* be rebooted.

Or do you mean base their next film off the Trank version? Which is never going to happen.

It will be a "reboot" in the sense that TIH was. Not an origin story, but not connected to Ang Lee's film, or the same way they're handling Spider-man.

But it's not going to be another FF origin story.

The only way you'd see that, is if they do a Netflix series out of it. They won't do an origin on the big screen.

If Marvel ends up getting the rights back(which I hope they do), I wouldn't mind seeing the FF turn up as supporting characters in some other Marvel movie, before getting their own movie in the Marvel Universe just to generate interest in the brand again after this bomb.

No way. Fox isn't stupid enough to let the property go all together (at least I should hope not). They know, that right now, Marvel is cinematic gold. I think they will hold out on the X-Men tie in show if it means getting a piece of that Marvel pie.

As for Marvel's incentive to cut them in:

1) Fox could always make another movie. It is a risky bet to just hope Fox lets the rights revert.

2) Timing is everything. The comic bubble will burst. 2022 may be too late to cash in on the characters to their fullest potential.

3) From Disney's perspective (and they are calling the shots on this, not Feige), having Fox willing to help finance FF (even just a tiny bit) reduces their risk. The brand is pretty toxic right now. More co-financiers means less risk, which is preferable.

4) It strengthens the relationship between Fox and Disney/Marvel. That can be valuable down the road (translation: when it comes to the X-Men). If they can establish a working relationship/agreement regarding F4, they can do it for X-Men. X-Men/Avengers crossover is the wet dream of both companies as it would be box office gold. It has potential for Titanic-esque numbers. In terms of the long game, this could be a stepping stone.

My point is, Fox isn't without a position to bargain and Disney isn't without incentive to cut them in. Thus, I see a deal similar to Sony's going down.
