IC - Favorite Moments

The recreated panel of Mongul from "For the Man Who Has Everything" in IC #1.

The re-telling of SBP vs the Teen Titans in a special IC crossover issue was pretty cool as well. Especially the added part where the new Speedy shoots an arrow at SBP in which transports SBP into the Phantom Zone, but only temporarily stops him as SBP breaks out soonafter.

WWHHHAAATTT!!!!??????

Can you post the pics??? I thought the battle happened in IC # 4?

I guess we can start with Blue Beetle in Countdown...

"My name is Ted Kord. I am the second man to call himself the Blue Beetle. I tell myself there will be a third."

One of the great comic book deaths. Also WW killing Max Lord, because I saw it coming at the end of the previous issue. I remembered the foreshadowing from a Rucka AOS where WW tells Superman that when you cannot tame the monster, you must kill it. When I realized that was where he was going with Sacrifice, I was floored.

A coda to the first one in OMAC Special when Hal says that the gathering of heroes isn't for Batman..."It's for the Blue Beetle." A nice moment, remembering how this all started.

That's it for ones people haven't said, I think.

Some of the Tie-Ins for IC were just elongated scenes from the Mini itself. The Teen Titans tie-in was the SBP vs Titans fight.

Speedy had an arrow that Arsenal had stolen from the fortress of solitude. It was for emergancies only. When it hit SBP, it sent him into a Phantom Zone pane (like in Superman 2), but SBP was too strong and pummled his way out.

The art wasn't that great, it was kinda a let down in that department. Cool idea though.

Oh, the battle did take place in IC #4, but it was also re-told in Teen Titans #32 where a few added scenes were included as well. I suppose Johns couldnt squeeze these scenes into IC #4, which explains the issue, but thats just me speculating since Johns also wrote Teen Titans #32 as well.

Much of the battle is from Conner Kent's POV, and another added scene is the Flash's first attempt to grab SBP. Who quickly defends himself by throwing punches at all three flash's, while stating that he's quick too.

Honestly, theres not a whole lot that is changed from what happened in IC #4, but there are some added stuff that I suppose Johns was unable to include in the original depiction of the fight. But by showing that even the Phantom Zone couldnt hold SBP, Johns clearly conveyed what a threat SBP was to not only the Teen Titans, but to the DCU itself.

Once I get my post count up, I'll scan some pages and post them. Unfortunately, I dont think I am able to post attachments at this time. Sorry about that.

Its cool....thanks though....

I was afraid there was a sneaky little IC # 0 type issue going on that wasn't formally announced.

Seeing MOGO the planetary Green Lantern after S1 and S2 crash S Prime on his surface... (just wondered where he went in the continuity...)

The ominous epilogue of Superboy carving the S on his chest inside the GL prison.

Woah....thanks anubis.....
Its scary how DC does that 'flash to the past thing' with the original titans scene just to explain how Speedy got the arrow...(pretty convienient) when its conceived in the future....

Kind of how Enterprise series is supposed to be the series BEFORE the Kirk saga, but when you watch the film...the ship looks more sophistocated then Kirks, and the Klingons are even bigger then the original series....

I think that's why I hate it when DC and other publishers try that approach: where its supposed to be based on the past but their designs and everything are out of sych compared to the series its supposed to be based on.

Still I'm trying to keep things in perspective.....

They had that whole plot point for the Phantom Zone Arrow set up back when she joined the team. i thought it was kinda cool how they did it. Though it proved to be rather ineffective.

Yeah, I remember....still bugs me though....but oh well...how many more surprise flashbacks are going to be incorporated to a person? Oh well....

* Wonder Woman snapping Lord's neck on worldwide TV.
* Joker squirting acid on Alexander Luthor, then shooting him in the face with an oversized gun.
* "The last time you inspired anyone was when you were dead."
* "Round two!"

Batman crying was the hot s***.

That "last time you inspired anyone" was easily the worst part, besides that s***ty un-inked page in #7.

No wonder Superboy broke it. The movie's Phantom Zone is like the made-in-Taiwan version of the actual canon PZ from the comics.

Hell, I could probably break that fragile POS.

Which page was that?

I wanna say it was either four or five, when he's f***ing up Brother Eye and Eye is talking about how Nightwing looks like he's going to die.

I like how they build up the blue arrow to do something great and win the day but instead it gets completely wasted.

No wai, Arkham is the worst.

Roy stole from superman!

He just went up a notch in my book.

Whats even better is that he didnt try and sell it for smack.

Although I hate it when they have these special weapons to only use in case of emergency. How about when their getting their asses kicked by deathstroke or somebody and he's gonna kill someone but they dont use the phantom zone arrow because 'its not that serious, were just gonna die'

Yeah. Honestly, the Teen Titans were not expecting SBP to escape, and even if they did, I doubt they thought it would have been as quick. Probably wasnt too bright to throw an insult at him directly after seeing him punch his way out of the Phantom Zone, but we all saw what happened after that...

Why would Kryptonians have an arrow to Richard Donner's Phantom Zone, anyway? Was there also an arrow to Tim Burton's Saturn where the sandworms burrow?

I hate these needless movie tie-ins that just pop up randomly. At least this one didn't end up saving the day.

This issue isnt the only one that has some very Donner-esque moments. Hell, there has been quite a bit of stuff to come out to the Superman comics as of late that seems very S:TM influenced. And I expect this to continue with the Johns/Donner team up thats coming up.
