ICC Cricket World Cup 2007

yeah who knows what they are thinking :shrugs: . I just think that they are hoping to rely on their depth in batting .

hope it doesnt backfire on them

omg i just read that the proteas nearly lost to Ireland of all teams :(
Looks like Ireland might have been very underrated. If they can survive without humiliation against SA, draw with ZImbabwe (which is not quite as hard) and beat Pakistan relatively easily, they are obviously not the joke team whipping boys we were all expecting. They have a great chance of making the Super Eights now.

yip , Kevin Pieterson used to play at my highschool :)
Oh wow! :wow:

My only worry for south africa is they have this natural ability to choke when it comes to big games and also the captain graham smith is out of form, and he shouldnt be opening the batting
I'll never forget that run-out!

Kaleb said:
players to watch during the tournament are
Ricky Ponting (aus )
Brian lara (windies )
jaques kallis (sa)
kevin pietersön (england )
sachin tendulker (india )
All really great players.

I think Tendulkar might be past his best now though. Would love to see Lara turn it on on home territory. He was the first "big" player I got to see live.

I would say that is the biggest upset in the history of cricket.
Australia will win. South Africa will choke. But the Windies will be a good chance.
Certainly one of the biggest of all time

I'm hoping Australia are affected by their recent poor form and injuries. A few months before the World Cup they were such big favourites that the tournament could have become boring. Now I think it's quite open although Australia and SA are still the favourites.

Isnt a Spinner a MUST in these conditions?... that would be very stupid to not take one IMO
I thought a spinner was a must in nearly any conditions, if only as a back up to change the pace of the game if all your seamers are getting smacked around.

Never heard of a team not having any in their squad! Maybe some of the batsmen can bowl a few overs (Pietersen style).

yeah, same here, i thought it was a must to have a spinner, but like Kaleb said, if they dont have a good one, why bother bringing in a crap one and taking out a good seamer.

India lost to Bangladesh :csad: :cmad:

and Pakistan are out of the WC after losing to Ireland :wow:

I left my grans house and australia were 113-3 lol agaisnt netherlands :D

South African Capt Graham smith is a spin bowler but he isnt a specialist .

...& England just lost Pietersen for 5 against Canada :cmad:

161-4 after 36 overs.

Flintoff was dropped for indiscipline. Apparently he was drinking till 4am and fell of a pedallo!!! :woot: :woot:

Yeah you don't necessarily need a specialist, especially if your specialists aren't too hot. As long as someone who's bowled a fair bit before can contribute with a few overs to change the pace of the game when you're conceding too many runs you should be ok

I think England should be able to get at least 220

Yeah but that's rubbish against Canada. :woot: :csad: :csad:

All the commentators were talking at least 280 before those two quick wickets.

...202-4 with 7 overs to go!

237-4 with 4 overs to go.

22 runs of the last over!!

One Canadian bowler taken out of the attack for waist high full tosses down the leg side! after conceding 11 of one ball (and one no ball) - damn would have liked him to bowl some more.. :woot:

lol... why are all the big teams struggling against the small ones?...

No idea.

Probably not taking them seriously enough.

We finished on 279-6 so good recovery.

Collingwood rescued us - 62 off 48 balls.
