Another thing is... it's easy for women to make generalizations about men's taste in women. The generalization is that men want skinny women with big boobs - which really doesn't happen in nature. This isn't necessarily true but that's the generalization. It's a cultural stereotype.

I don't think it's necessarily a cultural stereotype. I think it's wpmen's perception of the culture. Men are not defining what women should look like. Women are defining what they think men want women to look like based on a minority of women in the media.

While some men are attracted to skinny, large breasted women (and almost all would **** them given the chance) most guys find curvier women to be the most attractive. If I remember correctly the waist:hip ratio shown to be preferred by men in most sociological studies is about 1:1.3. Which is pretty much a curvy women. And that's held true for several generations.

Popular culture might seem to indicate that men want skinny, busty women. But the actual culture shows otherwise.

I think you're absolutely right. It's a false idea that many women have based on what is shown in the media.

How have I seen this LL debacle covered in the media? The one time I saw her on ET (I don't want TV that much) they said, "blah blah... check out Lindsay Lohan's new slimmed down bod... blah blah." They made that drastic, unhealthy transformation seem glamorous to those who are easily influenced by mass media.

I think the views of skinny and normal have been ridiculously skewed which is why a lot of these girls end up in rehab... for drugs and anorexia etc.

IMO Lohan looked much better when she had a fuller body but looking at those current bikini pictures.. she looks normal. It's just people aren't (especially me) aren't used to seeing her that thin, which is why she's getting such a negative reaction.

But I look at all of this as a positive... those days of stick figure Kate Moss' being the standard are long dead...

I always wonder about the guys who criticize women like that on here. Mostly, do they have a gf now? Have they ever? I'm honestly not trying to belittle them or their opinions but I wonder if they do it because it's what's cool and trendy now.
