IESB: Welling out of the running for JLA Superman

Didnt it premiere 2 weeks ago?

But anyways...no; top 5 for the night usually 11 million or so viewers; Smallvilles never got more then 6 on average even in it prime.

actually in its first two seasons when it was on Tuesdays at 9, it regularly had between 6 and 7 million viewers. The premiere had over 8 million, and for the season I think it averaged 6 something.

Considering now that it airs in the most competitive slot on TV (Thursday night at 8) against heavies like CSI, 24 (in the winter), and Ugly Betty and the CW isnt in as many homes as the Big 4 networks, its got good ratings, especially in the money demos (18-34 males).

Where the show really makes a killing is on DVD.

yea they do but just think what they could do with a bigger budget. Also for being on CW it is the top rated series this season for the network.

NO WELLING!?
That-Is-Great_Horray.jpg

Exactly.

yea from what it is looking it will probably end up being an unknown/semiknown actor for supes.

Its not a dud; but not even breaking top 10 for its night when it is premiering isn't anything to brag about.
Pssst? He said syndicated television, not overall viewership. There's a HUGE difference. Warners makes the coin off of syndication, not CW. When they sold SV to ABC Family back in the THIRD season (we're in the 7th season now), Warners got something like half a million dollars per episode. You do the math. That's 33 million dollars charged to ONE cable network for ONE year of broadcasts. And now they have six seasons to sell, which they can market everywhere since they now have more than 100 episodes, which they didn't have back in S4. More than 100 eps = marketability.

Also, SV is the top rated show on CW. So not only does it garner the most coin per 30 second ad spot ($95,000!), it's also making money for Warner TV in syndication *and* Warner Home Video in sales and rentals. It's total mailbox money for them. They don't have to "work" for it; they just cash the checks. Very few shows have nearly as much corporate synergy as SMALLVILLE. It rakes in TONS of coin for Warner Bros.

yup top show this season, i do know last season it was number two in rating under that crappy top model show but this season smallville has been the best thing in ratings and then wwe smackdown and the wrost ratings for cw are those two new enterntainment shows cw now and online nation not even getting 1million viewers.

I know it's ruining the integrity of Superman and needs to be canceled after this season. As for it being CW's #1 show, that ain't saying much. About 1/1000 people in America watch that terrible channel. And yes, I am pulling these numbers out of my ass.

Such a bold statement.

It's not ruining anything, and all it did was help to get DC characters in the media....

Also yea it is a different take of the mythos, it is mixing different elements and making there own here and there. yea it isnt reached in the same amount of markets as the big 4(abc,cbs,nbc,fox).

That's like Robot Chicken being Adult Swim's #1 "original" show.

Something i noticed....since we found out about the JL auditions early last month, we still haven't heard a thing about the candidates for the role of Clark Kent/Superman besides Welling and Routh.Only Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash auditionees have been revealed so far. Weird or not?

yea i am shocked we didnt hear about any audtions for supes, and i really think with routh doing a movie shortly and welling is most likely not going to be doing it since smallville is still going on and i bet they would not want to lose there lead for like 5 or so episodes on what could be the last season. The role is probably going to go to a third unknown actor. I really wish wb/dc would come out with the cast already if the reports are true and they have it all set already.

Who's auditioned for The Flash?

I doubt it, I think if anything they will go with a known actor around the age of Bale between 35 to 40 years old.

check out what this poster said over at iesb

i read on in touch magazine that ludacris was "very interested" in the role for Green Lantern, why the hell don't we just get David Banner in that role or 50 cent in that role if they're going to stick with stupid rap artists

I really hope we hear who was cast soon.

Well the last thing the craz.....I mean the psyc.....I.....er....mean the CD...............girl said was that she got "word" last Wednesday Oct 3rd that they (WB) would make an "announcement" Friday Oct 5th she says that they could have possibly postponed it for this Friday Oct 12, then she says it may be on Thanksgiving day. She made this post on October 7th BTW. The last we heard from Robert he had said that WB was pissed that he was leaking out information about JL he thinks they are referring to the script leaks and what characters will be in the movie. Please correct me if I'm wrong but aren't some of the recent articles saying that the strike is worse or more hectic than imagined, if that's the case I would think the "silence" is due to that. You never know maybe WB is having second thoughts. (fat chance I know)

Yeah...

Ludacris isn't a bad actor actually but i'd (hope) like to think that Miller and WB are aiming for something better.

Who's auditioned for The Flash?
I dont think anyone had to audition for The Flash. I would think they would have right away signed their main Flash guy Ryan Reynolds.

Posted this in another thread a few weeks ago.Actor Justin Tully tested for an unspecified role in JL. I speculated that it could be for The Flash...he certainly looks the part.

Justice League!

September 11, 2007 on 1:26 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Just got word some actor-friends and I have been requested by Mike Lemon to audition for the new Justice League movie in Philly! It’s pretty much the same guys I keep runnin’ into these days: Dave, Sean, Jayce, Alan and Maxx. We’re carpoolin’ up tomorrow morning and I’m stoked to put my acting chops to the test once again! Good thing I’ve been hittin’ the gym these past six months — maybe I can play a Superhero! We received five sides for the audition and have to pick one and memorize it for Mike. They’re very generic with plenty of room for emotional levels, but not from the actual J.L. script so nothing gets leaked!

Also, still no news about my callback in Pitt with Donna Belajac for “Shannon’s Rainbow.” As of now, we’re shooting for next week, but as with anything in this business, that could change in the next hour!

Speaking of next week, I’m doing a promo on Monday and Tuesday for the Va Pilot commercial I shot last year. All I know is that I get to hold the Will-You-Marry-Me sign again and paint my face red! I’ll also be getting a copy of that Va Pilot commercial soon to toss up on my site, so be on the lookout for that!

Well, until I find out more to share with ya, I need to start memorizing these lines! Thanks for checkin’ me out!

Philly was a HIT!

September 16, 2007 on 2:38 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

The trip to Mike Lemon’s in Philly was a blast and not to mention a complete success! I totally did my thing, nailed the audition and had a great time! It’s so great to read with Mike; he really makes you feel comfortable and gives the actor A LOT when he reads. He really gets into the scene, and that makes all the difference! Now, the tape will get submitted to Warner Brothers and hopefully someone will see me, like me, and book me! Wouldn’t that be nice.

Funny story: I’m just getting back from a weekend vacay in Hatteras with some high school friends, and I walk in the door, bags in hand, and sprawled across the kitchen counter is a newspaper page with my big (red) mug on it! It’s part of a new promo the Virginian-Pilot is doing. I shot a commercial last year for it but I wasn’t aware there’d be pictures as well. Funny seeing that. I’ll try to get a picture of it on here, or at least on my site.

Still waiting for word on “Shannon’s Rainbow.” The work week is starting tomorrow and obviously no one does any work on the weekends, but I look forward to hearing if I’m still in the running! And speaking of tomorrow, classes at FAX are starting up again! I’ve got the Director’s Sampler class on Mondays, Acting 3 on Tuesday and Acting 2 on Thursdays. And my private coaching with Mimi Eisman will be on Wednesdays making my week FULL of acting! Yeehah!

Well I guess that’ll wrap’er up for tonite! Take care, Readers.
