Lucky it's on the CW. It would have been cancelled on an actual network I watch SV but it gets frustrating Think about it. Lois and Clark had 20.8 mil viewers for an episode and lasted 4 seasons being on a major network. SV is considered getting good ratings with 5 mil viewers

Glad it is not required to get big ratings cause at least it can continue

Facts or Welling is signed sealed and delivered For JL and a Movie to be named later. Everyone has been cast and Gough is just playing Damage control for the sake of hype. Smallville has to be protected too, and working out a schedule and changing the storyline to the final episodes is what Gough is taking care of right now. I love how you keep on bringing into conversation your favorite Superman TV Show saying that it reached 20.8 mil viewers, how about now? I'd say it wouldn't have a very good chance of survival.

On an actual network it would have been given a bigger budget to play with & it would have more possibilities to reach a wider audience.

Your argument would work except that the SR forum at its peak had about 70-80 people t a given time; about 20-30 of which were actual members who could vote in the poll. When the poll has 320 votes for Routh alone (and 376 overall) it is rather clear people who arent just regular "superman returns lovers" are voting in th the poll; there the certain "skew" that would come with the polls origin doesnt mean a thing.

Where's Pat's MSN, AOL and EW polls that favor Welling over BJ? Not to mention major international publications and mainstream websites (like EW, MTV, Empire, Wizard and others) who have mentioned Tom Welling on their Superman wish lists at one time or another? Not to mention articles in Variety that discuss Smallville's enduring popularity and cash cow status at Warner.

Bringing some article or poll thats from pre-2006 is meaningless. Yeah maybe in 2002 when the film looked good for release in friggin summer 2004 he was a popular choice because he was still hot ****. Since then hes starred in 2 films as a friggin teenager and another that was a crap remake and box office dude. Most people who even have heard of the tv show Smallville more than likely dont know its still on; mainly because its press has died down times 10. Smallville (and Welling) were tv sensations circa late 2001 and 2002; so yeah I would buy he won polls to be cast as Superman up until even 2004. BUT when Routh was cast; his name stop being mentioned. And since Returns; the only people mentioning his name are Smallville fans up until rumors he was up for it., There were no articles about wether or not Welling should get it; there have been no polls about if he should get for years; simply because the role is Routh and the majority of people bought it. You guys can continue living in fantasyland if you want; but dont expect to be taken seriously.

But now we are talking about film due out in 2009. Show me a poll saying peoplwe want Welling in Justice League and your argument works. Show me a poll saying people still think he would make a great superman and the argument works.

That was my point. Even reaching 20.8 mil it only lasted 4 seasons on a major network. SV is lucky to do 5 mil on the CW so if SV was on a major network and the writing stayed where it is, I couldn't see it lasting half as long as it has with the kind of ratings demand it would have to reach. I actually watch the show and enjoy for what it is regardless of how ridiculous it gets at times. Meh.

This poll was posted on EW's popwatch on Oct 19, 2006, one week *before* SR ended its domestic run. In case people missed it, there were almost 23 THOUSAND votes logged on that poll.

Here's another one, started on Sept 8, 2006 and closed on March 2, 2007, so there was plenty of time to vote. That one only had 2899 votes, so it aint as impressive. But look at the pictures they used. Welling isn't even manipped in the costume.



Whatever guys. Like I said the other day, the evidence is there. You can choose to see it or not. And not fer nuthin', but the cast hasn't been announced yet. So buckle up; the ride aint over.

Took him two years to get another role, its called damaged goods,. Didn't take Hugh Jackman that long Didn't take Tobey thhat long. Yes i never liked him, and yes his acting was ok at best. Seriously you tink if he had knocked it out of the pack. Routh would be superman in JLA, but alas he will not be and may ultimately never wear red and blue again.

I dont want this to be a routh vs. welling more; my stance isnt pro routh (pro-Duhamel!); it is anti welling. He is a downgrade from Routh who not perfect in just about every way. He looks like a girl and has a teenage face; he dont like a grown man. He's not big enough; he is a famous tv star; not a Hollywood leading. If your going to replace the currect film Superman; you damn better get a famous and respected nam,e; and TW aint that for sure. His acting sucks; his delivery is off and he makes every scene he is in awkward as if hes trying to play a depressed puppy instead of angst teenager. Hearing him trade one liners with a Hollywood heavyweight would be a joke and make you route against Superman. Hed be the Hayden Christensen of the superman franchise; all yall wellingites yes brought it back wouldnt be able to show your faces around here.
