IESB: Welling out of the running for JLA Superman

yea we can all have the animated ones running around at the same time but they think we can tell the difference with multiple live action superman running around at the same time. like that is one of the reasons why we cant see batman in smallville cause they think the idiot general audience cant tell the difference between movies live action batman and a smallville one.

One of the problem with having Welling in JLA is that it could be a connection to SV, since that is Welling's role on the show. Plus, Aquaman & Bart Allen were on the show as somewhat of a junior JLA with Clark last season. Now if Welling is Supes in JLA, are they even going to bother with using the same Aquaman or actor from the show in JLA? Not to mention Flash in JLA will be Barry & not Bart. I wonder if Barry will talk to Supes about working with his grandson. Honestly, I don't think this is a good idea. You can make the movie ignore it, but the folks who know about SV won't & it would seem weird. At least to me.

Yea i have the same feeling yea it would be cool to see welling as supes i do not want him as supes for jla film while smallville show is still filming and all that. The best thing to do is let routh return he was good in SR it was just the story, suit and they way singer was making routh play supes that did not go over well with the fans. I would rather like to see routh take a second stab at supes or if that didnt have then go with someone else.

I thought Routh did a great job. But the problem is some dismiss him because they like Welling or like SV or hate the suit too much to pay attention to Routh's acting, the kid, etc. I think Routh get unfair bashing from some who likely paying attention to something more than his acting that they think he suck.

yea his acting was one of the things i did like in the film his issue was singer was making him play superman like he was reeves and not on his own like tom is doing with clark on smallville. I would rather have routh return as supes and this time with a new director, different story and not set in the singer/donnor verse maybe people will like him better and all that.

Smallville fanboys will be just that, hardcore fanboys who see only what they want to see. That Tom Welling is one of the best actors out there, to portray a complex character with many dimensions such as Superman.

Exactly, Routh gets a lot of bashing but it is mostly from SV/Welling fanboys that were upset that Routh got to play Superman on the big screen and not Welling, so therefore they automatically hate Routh. (or maybe jealous would be a better word)

Routh had somewhat charisma, but you should blame Singer, look at the directing the movie was brought and steered. The only macho character Singer has ever directed well is Wolverine...even that sometimes...

Yeah, I though that too, but thats the problem. A Superman film should be an event, not just 'good' or 'ok'. It certainly wasn't a bad film, but it could and should have been much more.

while most of us wanted to see Welling in a Superman film back in 2004, any dislike for Routh quickly turned to pity once we saw how Superman Returns turned out...
