If The Wrestling Thread Keeps Changing Titles, Thread Manager Gets A Brogue Kick

If the belt eventually does change, I'd expect either a new design or maybe a throwback to the 'WWF Winged Eagle' version similar to what they've done with the IC title.

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE star Curt Hawkins has been the main wrestler that The Rock has been training with to prepare for his match against John Cena at WrestleMania 28.

Interesting, I wonder if this will get him a move to SD post-Mania, as I recall Bourne working with Show to lay out the match for Mayweather at WM24 got him a push.

Haha! That's exactly how I felt when Austin turned heel. :hehe:

Lol, it looks like it's not only Punk you have to convince, but also another host of names including Cena. :hehe:

Heh! I was pissed when Shawn turned heel to face Hogan as well. :lmao:

Oh yeah I'm sure those guys see the marquee match and what it does for them, but I think about the guys like Ziggler, Sheamus, Bryan, Barrett, Rhodes etc...who will have another year pushed out of the spotlight come the big night.

Another year older more mileage more potential injuries....I can understand younger guys getting frustrated when their time to earn and perform is limited in a field with so few opportunities.

If Vince spent more time and effort cultivating the promising talent he has he wouldn't need the Rock or Austin or Taker so much. The same way he got to a point were he didn't need Hogan to survive.

You didn't see Bruno hanging around the main event 10 years after his expiration date. He didn't want to and Vince didn't need him.

Yeah, I saw that.

:D

I agree on that.

I can see the main event to next year's Mania being Austin and Rock vs Punk and Cena.

However, I'd much rather Punk go up against Taker and win.

So what was it that happen years ago that McMahon "burning" Rock from the business?

Brother! BROTHERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! AWWW BROTHER BROTHERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

The only thing I'd rather see Taker doing...is putting over Cena or Punk. The only thing I'd like to see Austin doing...is putting over Cena or Punk. Its sad that Cena and Punk are two of the few that have even been built to that level. Even then there are problems with the fact that their challengers in the main event would be two men whose best years are behind them. But otherwise...let them retire or stay retired.

I'd love to see HBK wrestle Punk but the time has passed. No need to unsettle a good ending. Let it stay pure.

Rock vs Cena II or Rock vs Austin IV are just huge wastes of time at this point. Taker almost at the finish line of his career. Hunter Rider is right. Anything these guys do should be to solidify the future the same way it was done for them. Do so many veterans need to be hogging spots at once? I can understand one nostalgia star next year but three?

WWE has quite literally run out of time on their deadline to make new stars. Its now or never.

Relying on nostalgia acts, the veterans, and the past TOO MUCH is what has put the business in the shape its in now. Its basically trying to rebuild itself from scraps of untempered untreated materials.

Wrestling keeps doing that and its dead.

It was McMahon that "burned" the Rock not the business or the fans.

Yeah I love to see Cena vs. Taker at Wrestle Mania next year. Really the only person left that Taker could face at WM that people would think have a real shot at ending the streak.

I can see the main event to next year's Mania being Austin and Rock vs Punk and Cena.

that would be awesome!..... maybe they could call them selves the baldy goatee brigade

Rumours going around that the main events for WrestleMania 29 are going to focus on/be based around The Rock, John Cena, The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

That could be amazing depending on how they use them. Although it doesn't bode well for the WWE if they all wrestle each other. Aside from Cena facing the Undertaker or Stone Cold.

cena has to take on taker at mania imo

he is the only guy who fans can foresee having a shot of beating
him

not to mention they haven't feuded since cena was a heel in 03

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is starting to focus on what the WWE landscape will be after WrestleMania, and he's got his thought process on the annual draft, WrestleZone has learned exclusively.

"Vince knows he can keep Raw and Smackdown talent on both shows, since Raw is a Super Show now," a key WWE insider told us, "so in order to bring up the Smackdown house shows, how could it hurt to have (John) Cena or (Chris) Jericho on Smackdown, and have them appear on Raw and shoot the major angles there?"

Vince has noticed that even though the ratings have remained stagnant on Raw throughout the Rock vs Cena program (and Undertaker vs HHH program as well), the live events for Monday Night Raw have been selling out. "The brand split is pretty much over," we were told, "everyone appears on Monday nights. Vince wants the wealth spread around a little bit more to improve the bottom line."

TNA Impact Wrestling star AJ Styles was recently interviewed by Dan Cannon of AllWrestling.com and spoke on a number subjects in a nearly 80 minute interview. Below is a quick recap of a portion of the show.

On his match with Ken Anderson against Daniels and Kazarian:
I haven't been this happy about a match in a long time. I think it was outstanding. I think it was one of the better matches of the night. I'm so proud of Ken. We wrestle such a different style than Ken and for Ken to be right there toe to toe with us right along, right on time is super impressive.

On the Sting/Roode PPV finish and storylines in wrestling:
You have to admire how it was done. It was pretty unique and I haven't seen anything like that before. Storylines need to continue you know. Bobby Roode is one of the best champions in a long time. He has it all.

His opinion on James Storm:
Looks like he is going all the way to the top. I can see he is doing what James Storm does best. Guess we will find out where it all leads.

On Being held down:
I think if you ever give me the ball, I'll score. But you have to give it to me. I have to play my part as well, I am a company guy. We all wrestle together, we entertain together and we all make money together.

On TNA's Twitter push:
I like to get on there and associate and connect with my fans. See what they want. If they don't like the fact that I wore gloves on the PPV then let me know. I'm trying something new. I see nothing wrong with that, I think it's something new.

His Opinion On The Internet Wrestling Community:
I was one of those guys that used to have the Torch or whatever as an app on my iphone but it's just so negative and so biased. I just stopped reading it because no matter what we do, it's never going to be good enough for biased writers. It is what it is man. We aren't going to have all the money that the other company has but I can tell you, we have better wrestling than they do.
I'm done listening to the fact that you think you are a genius because you write about a show at your desk and say you can write a show better than our writers can. Yet, you sit at your desk and write about a show that happened. There are so many critics that say so many things and don't get me wrong, some things I agree on but a lot of it I can't. They aren't there, they have no idea. It's like someone who writes for US magazine about a celebrity that's totally not true but they got it from a source who got it from a third hand. It's just ridiculous.

On his time with Ric Flair and his mic skills:
I did learn some tricks of the trade from Flair. The fact that I got a mic in my hand, the more you do something the better you are going to be at it. I think I can do better with the mic, just have to give me the time and the right story to tell. I can make it as entertaining as anyone else but you have to give me a chance. Just like wrestling, you have to give me the ball.
Ric is so spontaneous and quick witted when it comes to stuff like that. Everybody loves to hear him. Almost doesn't get any better than Flair. He is Ric Flair. As long as he can still woo, everyone will want to get with that.

On his promo to Jeff Hardy following Jeff's return from the Victory Road 2011 debacle:
You know I spoke to Jeff about that. To be honest, I was pretty upset over that. I take a lot of pride in this company. I've put my body, my life, my livelihood for this company. But that has been totally squashed and he is kicking major butt right now. He is in great shape and he is in mentally great shape.

On slowing down with age:
Well, things hurt a little bit longer than they used to. As long as I can get in there and go to work. I know some guys have said that I've slowed down since I was in Ring Of Honor or whatever other indy I was in. That's just working smarter, psychology. It's about finding the right time to do something and making it special.

On seeing more submission wrestling lately:
Ever so slightly there are some guys throwing in some submissions. I threw in a flying armbar ever once in a blue moon. I wish I could do that more but it doesn't seem to be the case in some of my matches.

On the creative changes, who was his favorite and who was his least favorite:
I can tell you it was Dusty Rhodes who put me and Daniels in the first 30 minute Iron Man match in TNA. I think it was Jeff Jarrett that put me, Daniels and Samoa Joe in the main event for the X-Division title. Vince Russo also put us in great storylines, like with Christian, Tomko and the like.

I can tell you this. I've seen a lot of things like 'Fire Vince Russo'. Russo didn't come up with all of these ideas. Sure he came up with a few things that weren't that good and weren't pleasing to the ears or to the eyes but no one does. Vince wasn't all that people thought he was as far as this 'terrible writer'. Vince was a great friend of mine and I'm going to miss him not being here. But for people to say all these terrible things about him and it's just not all true.

They have no idea, even I have no idea of all the things that went on backstage when they are writing the show. You have to think, I don't know how many writers the other company has, I'm sure its a butt load of them. We have 2 or 3 writers, that's it. Even if he did, you have to give him credit for putting in so much. Honestly, I hope Vince is enjoying the time off and not have to focus on wrestling. If I had to go through that much in my time in wrestling, I know I would have gone crazy. I just hope he is enjoying himself and his time in Colorado.

On the new creative team of Bruce Prichard, Dave Lagana and Matt Conway:
Well, Matt Conway, I've been working with him. Lagana, I've actually got to communicate with him a lot and Bruce as well. I think the fact that we have been able to communicate is a plus. The lack of communication is what screws things up. Without that you can't see their vision for what they want. You end up with two different pictures for the same thing.

On Hulk Hogan changing AJ's preconceived notions of Hulk Hogan prior to him coming in to TNA:
Sure he has. He is another guy who if I needed to talk to, I can.

On the removal of the six sided ring:
I liked the six sided ring because it was different. It was who we were. We didn't look like anyone else. Maybe AAA or whoever was using the six sided ring for a second but we had our own thing and it was different from anyone else. When I took the first bump (in the standard ring) I was relived that my back wasn't breaking in half because the six sided ring is a lot rougher on your body. The squared ring is a lot safer to bump in and so it changed my mind pretty quickly.

On being offered a WWE developmental contract for $500 a week and turning it down:
I could tell you what would have happened. Literally 3 months later, WWE pulled their developmental. I'm sure they would have just dumped my contract.

On his Christian beliefs:
I have no problem letting everyone know that I'm a Christian. I believe Jesus died for my sins. I don't deny that. In fact, I'll tell everyone that asks. I think that because I put GOD first that I'm blessed because of that.

During a recent interview conducted for The Poughkeepsie Journal, former WWE star John "Morrison" Hennigan spoke on a number of topics including Tough Enough resentment, his improv career after WWE and much more. On the subject of a potential WWE return, Morrison had the following to say:

"The door is open to go back. I left on really good terms with everybody and what I wanted to do was take time off to heal, get refreshed and take a little vacation.

I was working a 250-plus day a year schedule and I wanted to be refreshed. Right before I left, I felt like I was going to work. I wasn’t enjoying it as much as when I started."

It would feel unique. I think they've only been in the same ring for a handful of tag matches in the last few years.

Thank god the brand split is officially over. Now it makes sense for the RAW Supershow and Smackdown Supershow.

Tyson Kidd vs Michael McGillicutty - WWE NXT 3/21/12

Decent match, hopefully Kidd gets back on SD post-Mania.

This is what has made AJ a much better worker over the last few years.

The brand split as we knew it has effectively been over for years. There has been talent cross pollination on he shows for a long time. The only reason Raw is a Supershow is because its seen as the A show so it gets most of the stars while Smackdown has been looked at as the B show for a long time. Its probably always going to be that way on some level brand split or no brand split.

Raws been on longer, its not on friday, and its on a better network thus its the "A" show. Even if they try to build up Smackdown a lot of young people simply aren't going to stay home Friday night the way they do on Monday because they want to party. Even with people DVRing SD it doesn't seem to be as popular as Raw. WWE also likes touring with two separate brands. Thats one reason you have two sets of singles champions. Two touring brands will make them more money than one.

They've always had the draft to move top level talent around but they usually used that in favor of Raw while fleecing Smackdown. Even when Smackdown spent time building up new talent as soon as they were seen as viable stars they were sent over to Raw.

But like I said...Vince could have done what he's doing now from a long time. The brand split has been a non issue for a long time in regard to that.

I can no longer play SVR 2011 as everytime I try to play the game, it freezes. And yet when I play Madden 2012, it does not freeze.

WWE 12 freezes sometimes.

Agreed; heck I remember the glory days of the actual Brand Split, well for me they were the glory days, I'm talking about 2003-05 where each show had it's fair share of rising stars/Big Names and even it's fair share of Tag Teams to go with it.

I seriously hope that sooner or later, they decide to drop the whole "Two World Titles" gimmick as well and just have one world champion since with both slows likely to be controlled by one on screen general manager and with the brand split being essentially over, there's no point to have two world champions

Speaking of WWE games..

It seems DDP&New Age Outlaws may make it in WWE'13,There's a recent interview with DDP on ESPN.com and it says he's open to return to WWE one day and has reached an agreement with them&THQ to be in a new WWE game

A fan asked Road Dogg on Twitter IF he&other Attitude Era guys besides Austin&Rock will be in and he replied"finished voice overs" and when asked about Billy Gunn he said"yeah he's involved"

Them possibly being in,Rumors of an Attitude Era theme in the game and JR confirmed to do commentating with Lawler..Sounds interesting!

By having one world champ it makes the title mean something even more.

Two world titles gives guys a chance who possibly never would have gotten one. I seriously doubt Christian and Mark Henry would have become world champs if there was only one title.

Even before that there was a long list of guys...we all know some of them wouldn't have gotten to have a title run if there was only one belt. Some deserved it and some didn't.

It also allows two brands to tour instead of one because most people will want to go the the show the champion is wrestling on. Even if the brand split completely ends we're probably always going to have the two shows doing the house show tour separately and the champion can't be in two places at once.

It also gives the top guys more rest. They don't have to work as hard. In this age of higher impact higher risk wrestling they'd get even more wear and tear if they had to do TWO shows a week instead of one.

As far as I'm concerned the World Heavyweight championship is just a continuation of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship....which has a lineage just as impressive as the WWE titles. WWE owns the rights to it. Thats one reason why I don't mind there being two world titles. I didn't mind it 15 years ago.

Its the booking and the quality of the wrestlers that makes the titles matter more than anything.

Theres only one womens title and it means nothing right now. There is only one set of tag titles and they mean nothing right now.

True it sounds better when a guy can say he is THE world champion but even a boxer can hold TWO world titles.

I remember when WWF (yes F) had more midcard titles than they do right now and they ALL meant more than the two midcard titles in WWF today.

I remember when WWF (yes F) had more midcard titles than they do right now and they ALL meant more than the two midcard titles in WWF today.

Agreed. On everything.

On the subject of midcard titles, do you guys remember this..

Rock got him back by throwing HIM over a bridge?

Awesome stuff, lol. I swear that's one the last times the IC Title felt important.
