The design evolution is Liberace on the Vegas strip to a game show theme.

Ahhh the good old days.

Variety, I like it!

Eh, the old NWA belt was too small. It looked more like a TV/regional title. Flair's big gold belt was close to perfect.

And looking at Harley Race in brief-style trunks......yikes.

Looking at it more, if they had added the globe background portion that's in the side buckles to the center piece behind the logo, it would look so much better.

I gotta say, I was never too big on the NWA title belt.
Same. I just found the look of it lackluster. And that globe... never was a fan of it.

it would be cool if the side plates get switched out depending on who is champion, since there is no name plate

That is very likely. On the side plates you can see there are screws there to change the centre logo plates.

So if Bryan were to win it, would he get goat faces on the side plates? :hehe:

the title fits with current era imo.
bringing back the winged eagle (revamped or not), the attitude era, or undisputed designs or going with a brand new belt fitting of the legacy those belts laid would be a disservice to the title itself.

How? Those previous belts looked excellent, were well-designed, and gave off a championship feel. The new belt lacks that "big deal" feeling the others had, and the main plate is so plain. There isn't even a globe that emphasizes the "world title" part of the belt.

And it's too bling'd out like the spinner belt. Granted, that is a reflection of the current times we live in, but not in a good way.

The side plates look cool though.

I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong, but I think his point was that today's product is watered down overall compared to previous eras when guys like Hogan, Savage, Bret, Shawn and Austin held the belt, as opposed to today when the Miz is a recent champion. He wouldn't want to see Miz, Cena, Orton, Sheamus, Del Rio, etc. wearing a similar belt to the legends that I mentioned earlier. Doing so, in his opinion, would be a disservice to the legacy of those all-time greats.

Or, perhaps I misinterpreted his statement entirely. :)

The question is, would Roidback have a needle as his symbol should the tragedy of him becoming WWE champion occur?

A needle or some food to imply that Ryback is still hungry.

They are being booked as the team equivalent of Triple H or Brock Lesnar, a heel group that have more in common with the NWO than the Nexus. I think it should take a team of guys with savvy to stop them, brute power of a meathead has already proven useless 3 times.

True, but I'm still worried they will do something in WM that will make The Shield look like jobbers and specifically to the guy they've beaten so many times. Hopefully I'm worried over nothing though.

I gotta say, I was never too big on the NWA title belt. The Big Gold Belt was second favorite belt after the Undisputed title design.

Completely agree here. The pre-big gold NWA belt might as well have been the Western States Heritage title or something. It just didn't scream "Heavyweight Champion of the World!"

My only problem with the new belt is that the WWE "scratch" logo sucks and is horribly dated. It has that mid-90s "We're trying super hard to be edgy you guys!" stench on it.

I bet if Punk was the one to debut the new belt everyone would be tripping over themselves to say awesome it is.

 This design was leaked months ago and people in this thread had the same reaction. I agree that the scratch logo looks awful as well.

The new belt is lame. I find it hilarious that Rock talked up the new belt to a lackluster reveal. However I liked Rock's reasoning behind having a new belt.

This is a future Hall of Fame class

Interesting thought. Does DDP deserve a WWE HoF slot?

I'm guessing Rock vs Punk vs Cena in a triple threat match could still happen depending on next week's show.

I think so. Three time WCW world champion, two time WCW US champion, one time WCW TV champion, five time world tag team champion (4 WCW, 1 WWF), one time WWF Eurpoean champion. It wasn't a lengthy run, but he packed a lot into a brief career.

I'm thinking the match ends on a double pin, or a pin/submission where a winner can't be chosen, thus setting up the triple threat.

Rosa needs to eat something.

Shield is awesome

New belt isn't great, but it's better than the old one. It'd be great if Punk gets in the WM match, wins & debuts his own belt while melting the other 2.

Losing all the time even though you have help makes you look incompetent. Zig needs some big Ws.

Naomi is an amazing athlete. I hope they start using her better, but they won't.

Those new action figures don't wrestle. They hold hands & have seizures together. They suck

I think so. I doubt he gets in though. With the way he was treated during his WWE run I get the feeling that he's not highly regarded there.

I'd say yes based on his WCW credentials. WWE doesn't seem too particular about inducting people who weren't big stars in their company. Unfortunately his run in WWE was mediocre and wouldn't be HOF worthy. At least not much more than Koko B Ware.

That's my hope! I'm not sure I want to see Punk/Taker, especially if Taker is still nursing injuries.
