I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

I said in the other thread that I'm surprised they dropped this trailer now, it's kind of random, but great for us to see some new footage.

Interestingly enough, deadline has an article with the actors names along with the characters they are playing.

Theo Rossi is listed as Dr. Julian Rush. Carmen Ejogo is listed as Eve Karlo which makes me wonder if there will be a connection with clayface.

It's pathetic how pumped up I got seeing a new Matt Reeves tweet.

The thirst is very real.

I know James Gunn is the CEO or whatever for DC but it’s great to see him promoting Matt Reeves’s universe on his social media.

This looks so unbelievably good! I’m loving the intensity. I love how gritty and nasty Gotham looks. It’s really giving me more of an idea of who I want to show up in this saga.

I've always had this idea that this Batman thinks he's grunge or emo, but doesn't realize he's actually nu-metal/butt rock. :funny:

I unironically wish they would use a Breaking Benjamin song for the next movie.
Batman Begins and Breaking Benjamin made up my entire identity at one point lmao. Great pull.

There is something Jeff said today about The Batman Part ll that kinda made me raise my eyebrow a bit.
Remember this tweet?

Someone asked him on his podcast what's going on with the film behind the scenes and he said:

"I'm not gonna tell you other than to say stuff that you don't know about that I know and be patient and don't panic."

And it kinda my attention, both the initial tweet and this because I've been watching Jeff's podcast for over a year now and following him and his tone when talking about The Batman on those two things seems... odd? It seems odd that in the tweet he got kinda defensive about Matt Reeves, especially considering he said the first film kinda disappointed him, and it also seems odd that he doesn't even want to hint at what is going on/went on behind the scenes, he usually at least tries to give /something/. If it was just a thing about writing, development or something I kinda feel he'd say it? It's something that he's keeping both really close to the chest and also making him go "Be patient with Matt, all of you are full of **** and don't know anything."

All this to say: I hope that whatever it is that's going on is not Matt Reeves having some sort of personal issue and is just him really perfecting the story. For all I've said about him being a slow writer or whatever I hope it's just that.

I still think the seeds are being planted for Clayface in The Batman part II

Dude, Phobia brings me straight back to the summer of 2006, reading rumors about the Begins sequel, getting the Heath Ledger casting news, etc. It was the soundtrack of that summer for me. Incredibly underrated band imo.

They still make up a huge part of my personality haha, my wife and I see them live every time they come around. Ben is a huge nerd too. We did a VIP meet and greet once and he instantly complimented the Batman shirt I was wearing when I walked up to him for our photo.

Big missed opportunity for one of the tv spots for The Batman... they could have played Breaking Benjamin's Evil Angel or Breath. :o

Nickelback still works better than it should LOL.

I actually do think Deftones would actually be an inspired choice for this series though. They are already on Warner Records. Chino's other project Crosses has already been featured on the Arkham City soundtrack. And nu-metal is having a huge resurgence with younger people with Deftones songs in particular often going viral in TikTok videos.

I'm not sure Reeves as a Gen X'er would do it though, I'm guessing he's gonna be more inclined to stick with grunge and/or Nirvana.

Yeah Reeves is gonna stick with the 90s for the sequels.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Soundgarden, NIN, Pearl Jam, or even The Smashing Pumpkins.

I could see him bringing back The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning from the Batman & Robin soundtrack like they did with Watchmen.

It's a fantastic song (both versions), but I suspect Reeves wouldn't want to use something that's already been associated with a previous Batman movie + a strong association with Watchmen on top of that.

Another Pumpkins song that I think could fit thematically though is Bullet with Butterfly Wings.

I think 98% of my "online" time would have been on here for TDK and The Shallow Bay. Phobia is an all-timer for me for sure. I don't follow them as closely as I used to, but I'm pretty on top of any new releases (although they make it hard when they release albums every 4+ years lol).

That's awesome!

This is a really good point and hopefully there is nothing health/personal related. But I have noticed this as well with his comments about the sequel.

Pearl Jam's sound is too overly rocky, and I think it would be wise for them to veer away from something overtly rock-ish in general unless they decide to play something during a fight scene or something like that.

Pearl Jam or Soundgarden feel like the most obvious (and maybe best) choices. I wouldn't be shocked if it was more Nirvana, though.
