I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

Correct me if I am wrong , but The Batman still has the highest critic score of any live action CBM since 2022 on Rotten Tomatoes? Lol

Thoughts?
Zodiac famously sent a greeting card whose front cover read, “Your secret pal.” In the movie, Reeves modified the card to read, “Your secret friend.” Here’s a Reddit thread comparing the real card to the movie card.

I think the Riddler's presence will be felt a bit in the series. Sure, the “ratalada” website is up and running again, but in the trailer, we also see protesters sporting his symbol on signs (and it's nice if the series exploits his influence on the Gothamites a bit more, because to my taste, the film was a tad too shy on this before cranking it up to 11 with the finale).

Yet I still think the letter is from Sofia Falcone... But if so, her handwriting looks like a man's... :o

Shooting Part II and III back-to-back.
James already shut that down that idea.

Honestly I was thinking of it and a new title for this film would sound reasonable. Not only does it make sense to me that after two years Matt might've thought of a title more emblematic of the themes of the movie, but also, when The Penguin is already supposed to be the second chapter of The Batman Saga, having this film called The Batman Part 2 feels... bizarre?

You've got the first chapter on The Batman, the second chapter on The Penguin, and the third chapter called The Batman Part 2.

Wouldn't be surprised if they kept it the same but new title feels reasonable, something they can announce at SDCC even if there's no script done just yet, and would get people buzzing.

I have a strong feeling they will keep the title as “the batman part II” since they are going for a godfather sort of thing, but The Batman: Heart of Ice has a nice ring to it 😉

I would genuinely lose my mind if they announced mr freeze as the villain, as unlikely as i know it is. I really do hope we get something this weekend though!

Mr. Freeze has been of particular interest to me ever since Reeves specifically mentioned him. I'm not sure how he'd tie into the whole "epic crime saga" concept, but trying to envision a more realistic take on Freeze has been one of the more engaging creative exercises I've had.

Dear WB,

Can we get the proper sequel written before we start pumping out more spin-offs, please? We're 2.5 years removed from the first film, and we've not heard a peep on the second proper film. This is ridiculous.

Thanks!

Dear OnLeatherWings,

Well, they're gonna have a Part II script before a 2nd show comes out so I wouldn't worry.

Reeves too distracted with spinoff ideas and treatments to write the Part 2 script. :(

I think so. Something is tomorrow too, but I think it's just for those at the convention.

Would honestly have much preferred Austin Butler as Joker compared to Barry.
I can't tell for sure if Butler would've worked for this more overtly weird, borderline childish Joker though. He'd fit a more overtly charismatic version better.

I'd love love love to see him here but I feel like that ship has pretty much sailed now that we know Clayface exists, and Part III if it happens is inevitably gonna be a Joker thing.

But is that not just how Keoghan is playing him? From what little we have, I’m not sure that the writing itself is childlike.

You're probably right, but I'll go one step further:

I guess Butler would work for this Joker on the page, the way the script describes him. But knowing the Reevesverse Joker the way we know him now.......I can't say I'd rather have someone else. Especially the way Barry plays him i.e. hyperactive, childlike, possibly mischievous, etc.

You’re aware the spin off production is heavily delegated, right lol.

Weren't there two trailers already been released? lol
Anyway, looking foward to it!
