^ I watched the interview and I recommend people do, it gives further context to the quote about adding Reeves' batman to the dcu.

To me it sounds like the situation is still fluid and a decision hasn't been made because they don't actually need to make one right now. Gunn sidesteps the question a bit.

I've watched the entire interview and don't know where you've got that from.

While he says that he has contemplated the possibility (even just because that's his job and it's simply what you do in that situation), he nowhere suggests that the situation is still fluid.

He also mentions Brave and the Bold and it not being quite there yet, script-wise.

Thats why I said "to me it sounds like" not that he said it is. Sorry for the confusion.

Move Pattinson into the DCU.

Like Gunn had in MCU, give Reeves (and team) creative control of Gotham City stories. By the time the trilogy wraps, Pattinson can continue in the role (perhaps mirroring a bit of Batman's character arc in New Frontier--i.e. "I want to scare criminals, not children") or they can recast & treat the Reeves saga as a loose continuity-- again, like in the MCU, as it relates to the recently-canon Netflix series.
 
Sure, that works. Who even knows where this story leads, right? It doesn’t seem this Bruce Wayne ever encountered the Al Ghuls, etc. so it wouldn’t even work with the Brave and the Bold film in its current form. But who knows what the future holds?

I’m still of the opinion that nothing in The Batman nor The Penguin precludes this universe from introducing a Superman; had TDKR ended differently, I wouldn’t have batted an eye if Bale’s Batman met Cavill’s Superman. And MOS had its fair share of off-the-wall sci-fi concepts.

Hey, I totally headcanon that a Superman exists in any Batman continuity even if he’s not mentioned. So I feel that.

But ultimately it’s not about that. It’s about making sure Reeves and co aren’t locked into any kind of status quo - I don’t want those limitations on these or any other CBM. He should be able to kill major characters if he wants to, have events happen that keep any sort of traditional Batman set up from being possible (Bruce’s identity being exposed as a random example) and all of the other things you’d want to be able to potentially do when telling a complete, finite story.

The worst thing that can happen on film is recreating the perpetual, stagnant status quo of the comics. It’s my least favourite part of the superhero genre by a landslide.

I want to go on a journey with this version of the character that feels complete and satisfying then let someone else do something totally and utterly different afterwards.
 
U2 dropped the FULL theme from 2004's The Batman. I need Reeves and Giacchino to sneak this on into the sequel.
