I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

I wonder if appetite for Reeves spinoffs dried up real hard when Gunn came aboard - on top of them mostly being intended as streaming fodder which obviously is in a very different place now - then Penguin was a hit and all of a sudden chatter started anew.

I don’t really care either way. Less is more sometimes. I’m mostly just sad that Flanagan couldn’t make it so he got replaced by a middling rando.
You are probably right, there were a lot of rumours about spin-offs until Gunn came on board. Coupled with HBO Max needing content until all that imploded with streaming.

But with the way Penguin made such an impact I could see them looking back into it. At least now there is a script for the sequel so there could be pitches made if he shares the script with some creators. I would be shocked if Lauren Lefranc wasn't offered something else in the batman universe.

I still think shortening Cobblepot to “Cobb” was intentional more than normal.

The head of the court of owls last name is “Cobb” (TALON”)

he is also dick graysons grandfather

I’m hoping for more than a coincidence…

Variety: "We’re hearing there could be a second season. What can you tell me?"

Farrell: "There’s literally not. If there was, and I was told to lie to you, I’d probably have to lie to you. But genuinely, no. Because the show went well, of course, there’s been rumblings about, “Would we do a second season? What would that look like?” There is absolutely nothing in process. There’s “Batman 2,” which I haven’t read the script for yet. And then there’s “Batman 3.” I don’t know if I’m in them or what’s happening, but I’ll hopefully read “Batman 2” soon."

The Penguin series was so phenomenal. We had the chance to see him become the fully formed version of himself. Honestly, I’d stop there with him. Maybe give the next series to a different character and see how they rise then connect it with the third film.

Colin Farrell have you or have you not read Matt Reeves’ new screenplay for The Batman II?

“Not yet” beamed the actor who is celebrating his first Emmy nom today for Batman HBO DC Studios spinoff series, The Penguin.

“But I’m very close to it. I can’t wait. I’m going to have to block out a few hours when that happens and really put the kettle on and put a nice cup of tea on and pay attention,” said Farrell who spoke to us from the Santa Monica, CA set of Apple TV+’s season 2 of Sugar.

“Matt is an extraordinary writer and a highly intelligent artist. I will imagine that the script will be riveting and incredibly deep and he’s taken he’s time with it and that’s because he’s a perfectionist.” “I’ll be excited to read it and I’m going to read it soon,” added the actor.

Then admit you're Lily's son!! ADMIT IT!

Grace and Frankie was a great show!

And Nicholas Hoult, who plays archvillain Lex Luthor, nabbed a $2 million payday. Although Warner Bros. has sequel options on Corenswet and Brosnahan, a sequel announcement does not appear to be imminent. Instead, sources say the studio is fast-tracking a “Wonder Woman” movie. And the studio is thrilled with Matt Reeves’ just-submitted screenplay draft for the sequel to “The Batman.”

Shocker that he cooked.
Yeah, given that Superman is now unlikely to outdo The Batman at the box office, I have a feeling our boy is very safe at WB. Makes a very profitable Batman movie, a hit HBO series nominated for Emmys, and now delivers a killer script for the sequel.

Matt should be untouchable.

Now we know why Reeves confidently tweeted that picture of him and Mattson like bosses before sending it off to WB because he knows they wrote something special lol

When you take into account that the guy probably had something like cancer and also it seems got divorced/separated all at the same time, and then still seemingly knocks out an amazing script, the people around here should be kneeling at the guy's feet.
