I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

Also... lets not do this again where we overreact to set photos. :o

It's funny, when the red first look/camera test came out, I loved its atmosphere and music, but I wasn't sold on the suit, which looked too much like bulky armor to me, which I usually hate on Batman.

But when the set pictures from England came out the next month and everyone panicked, well, I was quite enjoying them! :funny:
I was aware that the version we were seeing was a slightly cheaper one for the stunts, so I was able to project what the final render could be and was totally fine with it. But above all, I was just pleased to see that we weren't dealing with a full armor.
At that moment, I even found something a little medieval samurai-esque about that top part, which was interesting but which, in my opinion, didn't completely translate into the film in the end.

I mean, I thought the cowl looked like ****, but it was clearly a stuntman under there, so I gave it a pass.

I liked it personally but I also hated the cowl in TDKT so...

The tiny round mouth opening always threw me off...

BUT, there is one scene where I really like how Batman looked, and that's in the final scene of TDK, when he tries to reason with Dent. I think that's largely because it's a scene where darkness complements the look, as it always should, really.

This is actually one of the aspects of Nolan's films that I regret: they progressively tended to somewhat “neglect” the lighting on the costume or at least not always take full advantage of it. This sometimes led to... well...

One thing that I've always notices is that they've learnt from their mistakes: in The Dark Knight Rises they either slightly redesigned the cowl (by working out small details from different angles) , or they learnt how to light the suit, because he looks great in that!

Interesting. I always felt he looks much worse in rises than either of the first 2 movies. The cowl looks identical to me but imo they put even less effort into shooting/lighting it well. The only time i think it looks great is when he’s on the catwalk confronting bane in the sewers. I still really wish they brought back the begins suit for the second half of rises once he becomes batman again.

Its amazing they still print the script out on paper and have them read it, instead of just sending them a digital file over an email or link to a secure server or something high tech like that.

Reeves specifically said end of April or early May.

Feels like a lifetime from now.

And apparently Reeves said that Cristin Milioti will not be in The Batman Part II, as the team was so deep into the film's story by the time The Penguin aired. Not surprising, and while I'd love to see Milioti cross into the films, the story is a lot bigger and extends beyond The Penguin. The sequel will be more of a sequel to the first film than a sequel to The Penguin, though of course Penguin's ending sets up Battinson getting back involved.

Is it unfortunate? A bit, if just because I had my own expectation of seeing her, but at the same time, there was never an expectation that she would show up in this film. Still, I'm certain that she'll pop up elsewhere at some point in this universe.

I’m assuming that the most connection to The Penguin that we’re getting is that the next time Batman encounters Cobb, he’s running the criminal empire.

Maybe we get a glimpse of his new penthouse, maybe we don’t. Just a fancier Oz Cobb than the second-in-command we saw in Part I.

Sofia is still locked up in Arkham, so its not like Batman would need to deal with her in the immediate future anyway unless she escaped.

Farrell is very, very good and a much louder showier role but Graham is a better performance in a much better, more important show. Not denigrating Colin, but Graham's performance is painfully real and beautiful.

Yeah it’s really Adolescence and The Studio at the Emmys tonight; but Farrell’s gotten plenty of love for his performance throughout the rest of the circuit.

At least Reeves officially confirmed they are in pre-production now and the April/May filming dates. Based on the timeline of the first movie, I think we started hearing casting for most of the roles 4 months before filming. So maybe around December we get casting. Hoping sooner, but that also means we will get plenty of rumours as more people start getting involved for production.

I'm not surprised with Sofia not showing up, but, maybe that tells us that Arkham won't be featured all that much.

Wouldn't say it means anything about Arkham especially because one suspects any scenes would be focused on the male population given we have multiple established characters there.

The other great tidbit we got is that they are talking about other tv series.

I feel like that will really depend on the sequel with respect to a new villain, but a Catwoman series seems like a no brainer since she's not appearing in the sequel.

Yes, his performance was insane. Yes, this show is important. But better than Penguin? NO!

Do we even know for sure that Selina won’t be in Part II? I kind of have a hard time believing that an off-limits question at the press tour for another movie is how we find out one way or the other.
