This would be fun—Gordon’s forced to deal with Oz & Gotham’s underworld without Batman; while Alfred turns to Leslie Thompkins to help Bruce.

Would be cool to see Batman take down a B-list villain in an opening too, only to encounter them later in Arkham. Like Professor Pyg or Firefly. Or a grounded take on Mr. Freeze... Imagine Bruce & Victor facing their tragic backstories in group session in Arkham. Then, you could get a redemptive arc for him & keep Hugo as the Act III Big Bad in his own Batsuit

Paul Danos Riddler was already a lot like Hush. A masked killer who hates Bruce Wayne and wants to destroy him.

I hope it's not Hush.

This is a very terrible misinterpretation of The Riddler as well as a poor generalization of Hush. Riddler’s main target was Carmine Falcone. Bruce was only a part of Riddler’s hit list and his attitude about not being able to blow him up was “oh well”.

Riddler was everything that Riddler has always been. A masked psychopathic killer who uses death traps and torture devices on his victims. He also leaves cryptic messages with double meanings at the scene of his crimes.

Hush is a bandage psychopathic neurosurgeon that uses methods of psychological warfare and medical torture on his victims. His soul purpose IS to destroy Bruce Wayne and his legacy.

Hush’s origins have already been reimagined and has potential for a lot of creative development.

But it feels like Riddler already tarnished the Wayne legacy by exposing Martha's time in Arkham Asylum and Thomas Wayne's involvement in Elliot's murder.

Another villain going after the Wayne family does feel a bit redundant to me, even if Hush is more emotionally invested in it than Riddler was.

Major Batvillains (according to Wikipedia) who haven't had their film debut yet: Mad Hatter, Ventriliquist and Scarface, Man-Bat, Hush, Strange.

Edit: Clayface too, but he's getting his movie next year. Still Reeves could be talking about him.

Something about that phrasing doesn’t really scream “villain who’s only been around for about 20 years” to me.

Hugo Strange would be cool. I wonder if Reeves would include his Monster Men? It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to make them work.

Regardless, Matt has maintained that the next film will dive deeper into Bruce’s story and that the main villain is connected to him and his past. So, it’s going to involve the Waynes anyway.

We have no clue at all about what Hush would do other than what we know from the comics. I highly doubt his story would just be “Hush goes after the Wayne family”. If people perceive it that way, then it will feel redundant, because it is so simplistic.

He tries to get Bruce to help him defeat the Court and it plays as straight paranoia for the first two acts.

If the movie keeps the basic premise of "Hush manipulating the Rogues into working for him", color me interested.

I feel like Matt has talked way too much about the Rogues Gallery for them to not play a role here too.

Its a shame that Clayface became part of the DCU it was originally a project of Matt Reeves Batverse i hope they revive the Arkham Asylum show i want to meet the Joker and other villains of this world i hope Dick Grayson appears in the sequel i would like to see an adaptation of Dark Victory

I can't wait to see the evolution of Batman 's suit and equipment, too. He strikes me as a tinkerer, so it's gonna be interesting to see how his personal evolution will be portrayed outwards.

I also can't wait to see new locations in Matt Reeves' Gotham City, and how the sequel will compare tonally and stylistically to the first one.

Ugghh... 2027 can't come here soon enough.

Keoghan was also super tight-lipped whenever questions about his involvement in Part II came up. I don't know, but he gave me a clear impression that he's got something to do in this one.

I have a very strong feeling that Arkham Asylum is going to factor into this movie quite heavily, which is why Strange is making more sense to me. Not to mention Matt's comments about Bruce struggling with being Batman. Therapy might do that. :hmm:

I mean I won’t lie, I really wanted to see Reeves dip a little more into the fantastical with Freeze in a flooded wintery Gotham, but I’m sure whatever he has cooked up is good.

Getting Robin done right in live action would be a nice consolation prize though, and obviously fits with Bruce’s arc of letting people in

While Hush is the most likely, I do think we're also missing a possible Lincoln March adaptation. It's not exactly like Matt adapts the villains in a way that's 1:1 with their comic counterpart. A Matt Reeves adaptation of March equally would ring true to Hush, especially with the themes of Thomas Wayne's mistakes from the last movie

I could easily see this happening. Just from a visual standpoint the only reason I don't think it would be Hugo Strange by himself is because he doesn't really have a strong iconography.

Hush and Talon do and from a marketing perspective give a bit more to intrigue people. This is still a Batman film so you need whatever rogue they choose to peak the interest of the general audience.

I think with Hush, the reality is, no one would be too upset if the character was reinterpreted for film. He has a very strong look and is basically a blank canvass to adapt.

Hugo Strange would almost certainly mean a secondary antagonist. He's not the "get hands dirty" type. That's where you could see things open up a bit. Hush, Killer Moth, Azrael, Phantasm, Deadshot. Any number of rogues could work in cooperation with Strange.

Hugo Strange + Secondary Villain is a lot more exciting to me than Court of Owls + Hush.

I still think Blackfire would be an insanely cool villain choice too - totally unexpected and very different for a Batman movie. And you could incorporate Azrael is the secondary villain there quite naturally. But unless the movie delves into Bruce's spirituality, not sure how Blackfire would play into his past.

Most likely villains:
Hush, Court of Owls, Phantasm, Two-Face

That is how I see it especially the villain digging into Bruce. I actually think Phantasm would is interesting.
