I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

Alright what do we say to another round of "Guess the villain?"

Hush makes the most sense.

Villain who has personal connections to Bruce Wayne, who debuted as the "big bad" in a large ensemble Batman comic book story written by Jeph Loeb, has a cool film-noir look, etc. Just makes the most sense as a sequel for The Batman.

"Metahuman" characters like Mr. Freeze are very unlikely. I think its probably time for you guys to let that dream die (unless the Reeveverse gets folded into the DCU, which is unlikely to happen).

I think Hush most likely, if the Clayface movie wasn’t happening I’d think Clayface too but I think it’s unlikely now.

I know she’s a little younger than usually portrayed but I’d really love Rosario’s energy for Leslie. Similar to how she played Claire in Daredevil but that might be too similar.

I’ve been back and forth on Robin but with this film taking place in the winter I wouldn’t hesitate to see Bruce and Dick together on Christmas as the film ends, I’ve also stayed by the fact forever that Cassandra Cain would be great in this universe

Maxwell Cort / Night Scourge & Dr. Jeremiah Arkham, with Penguin & Catwoman returning too (and additional cameos by Riddler & Sofia Gigante as Arkham inmates).

Freeze, genuinely, doesn’t take that much grounding - he just needs a gun that freezes people to death and that isn’t a thing that’s horrendously hard to turn into a piece of mild sci-fi tech like what Bruce uses in the first movie. Liquid nitrogen based or whatever.

We’d have to cringe through a silly new name that isn’t Fries but it’d be worth it. We survived Oz Cobb.

My wishlist/predictions for part II would be Mr freeze as the villain, a winter setting obviously, harvey dent introduced as a close friend of bruce’s, selina returning towards the end of the film, and dick grayson being introduced right at the end to set up part III. Will be happy to get any of these honestly. So hyped to get some casting news soon

If Freeze can work in Gotham Central then he can work here.

No clue who the main villain will be, but definitely could see dent and crane being involved somehow. I think hush is an opportunity for Reeves to reinvent a villain that many people wouldn't be too upset with it being done.

Honestly, there are so many ways this could go so it'll be interesting to see what direction he goes in. He does like the 60s series so I feel like freeze is a possibility.

Either way, we've seen the quality of a Batman movie helmed by Matt Reeves where he has to focus on establishing his entire world and now we're getting one where he doesn't have to. The last time we were in this situation with a masterful filmmaker? We got The Dark Knight.

As I said before, it's not hyperbole when I say this has the potential to be the best ****ing Batman movie ever made

Just go with "Schivel", that's what they went with in the '66 show.

Realistically: Hush, The Court, or someone like Sionis. Hugo Strange and Crane both feel a bit too centralized for what Reeves has said so far.

Yup. Freeze has been my #1 choice since forever.

I'm honestly hoping it's not Hush. So many other characters deserve the spotlight more than him.

If I recall correctly, we knew fairly early on in the Batman's process who the villains were when he posted that picture of the 60s villains. Then he confirmed the characters with the Twitter casting confirmations if I'm not mistaken. I can also see a larger cameo from the joker this time around.

This time around I could see them being more secretive only because they don't have to build up the hype unlike the last time with the dceu debacle.

Truthfully, I would love to see Reeves take on the majority of his rogues gallery. So hopefully he also has another HBO series in the world too.

Be that as it may, Hush is a character Reeves gets to claim as his own. Freeze has technically been done before.

Can someone sum up all of Reeves and Pattinson’s comments on sequel villains. They were asked about a lot of villains but I recall them commenting on Robin, Freeze, Hush, and possibly Court of Owls? Would appreciate if someone can compile the quotes because that could give us a good idea of what II will look like

I definitely feel like Hush and Harvey are involved, but neither of them are the main villain. Idk. It just depends on how the guys want to swing this saga. 4 full notebooks can contain so many details.

Hatter has so much potential to me and would be a lot of fun. He’s never been on the big screen, he’s theatrical, his theme is very adaptable, could give us some trippy psychedelic sequences and has many stories to draw inspiration from.

Other villains I could see showing up at some point are Pyg, Black Mask, Ivy, Scarecrow, Deadshot, Zsasz, Firefly, Hugo or Croc (if he has a skin condition and wears a gator skin vest or jacket).

Ozz Cob was interesting though considering William Cobb is Talon (leader of the court of Owls) may be a connection or may be nothing.
