Honestly, both of Fincher’s Netflix movies have left me cold story-wise, but they sure look great. This is a good hire.

Pretty disappointing choice. He’s lensed the weakest looking Fincher movies, and Mank and Ferrari both looked genuinely ugly.

I wouldn’t, it’s insanely unlikely he’s gonna be back. It’s more or less a logistical impossibility.

Reeves just confirmed the new hire on X. Sad Fraser isn't coming back, but excited to see what EM can bring to the table.

couple thoughts

1. This erases any hope I had that Reeve's would shoot portions of the movie in IMAX 15 perf film. An aspect I truly miss from the Nolan Batman era. Thinking about how larger than life and 'eventy' movies that utilize it are... DUNE and THE ODYSSEY, for example. Would love for Batman to be a part of that again but Reeve's just can't shake his anamorphic love. I get it.

2. Eril's work is handsome. I truly hope they do the process Fraser did for The Batman and scan it back on film stock to get a bit of grit on the image. His Fincher work is very modern, low lit and has a sheen to it i don't particularly thinks works for Batman but i'm happy to see how he adapts to the material.

The Killer, oddly, is like my dream completely unmarketable Bond movie. Fassbender’s fussy sociopathy is so Fleming-Bond.

Felt like it was a good looking but pretty flat and hollow revenge movie..
Maybe I'm missing something... (Who said “good taste”?! )

I like how much you can tell Fincher is a little embarrassed by the edgy 90s quality of his early movies. There’s a great sense of that in Mindhunter’s more grounded portrayal of murderers and The Killer’s borderline satirical quality.
