The Dark Knight Rises Improving Fight Scenes

Yea, and hopefully hires better stunt actors. Some of those guys in TDK were overselling worse than WWE wrestlers.

That's...a good thing.

Joker isn't supposed to be a thread to Batman physically.

In a one on one fight, Batman beats Joker every single time.

It's Joker's unpredictability that caught and catches Batman off guard.

I know, and it's not a bad thing. I enjoyed that The Joker possessed the ability to hurt Batman psychologically... BUT I also wanted to witness a messy toe to toe battle.

Some teeth knocked out, broken eye socket few cracked ribs and a shattered right hand for batman

Bane he can have a splinter from punching through a door

Honestly though my biggest wish for this movie is that my favorite villain ( two-face ) gets his trademark suit

He was confirmed right?

Well with a movie about Joker and Two-Face, neither of whom present much of a challenge to Batman physically, you were setting yourself up for disappointment.

Since Bale and Hardy are both committed method actors, I say let them beat the **** out of each other for real. Just sit back and film it.

My problems with the KFM aside, probably my biggest gripe regarding the fight sequences is the fact that they look so blatantly staged. I never feel the contact of the blows, and everybody appears to moving at 1/2 speed. But my favorite is how people don't even put up a fight. Once Batman gets a hold of them, they act like they're paralyzed. They just give into it, while Batman goes through the motions.

Case in point: the scene in Lau's office, when Lau is in the process of falling before Batman even touches him.

This film desperately need a new fight choreographer, and stuntmen that actually know how to sell being hit.

I wouldn't even mind if they made him match Bale's height. An inch or so taller would do as well. I don't want him to be too tall. Nor do I want him to be shorter than Bale.

I knew what I was getting from the get go. Both The Joker and Two-Face were never a threat to Batman physically but I was still hoping for something.

They can learn a thing or two from the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.

I'm telling you right now that if I saw Batman approaching me, I'd fall directly to my knees, ready to do some begging. Him hitting me before I got there would be a coincidence, or his way of telling me that what I was about to do is useless. :o

Batman didn't even approach him. Lau is the one who comes into frame.

If I were Lau, I would've... you know, run away from the get-go.

There was also a guy standing there with a shotgun, just... standing there. Then Batman took his shotgun and hit him with it.

Say what you want, but there's no denying the fight choreography and the stunt men were terrible in TDK. Which is a real shame, because the camera work was excellent. I loved the revolving shot during the SWAT team fight.

Yea the actual camera work was an improvement from Begins.

But it's like they went too far and made it so easy to follow, it looked too fake.

So we're all in agreement... the fight scenes in TDK sucked major ass :ikyn

I agree the fight scenes needs improvement. Hopefully they nail it with the third and final entry.

I still think Blade 2 has some of the best fight scenes for a comic book movie. All the martial arts mayhem is excellent.

I wish they would show Batman fighting like Blade.... minus the superhuman moves he does... but when Wesley Snipes is just straight up doing some martial arts stuff it's terrific.... like the scene where he fights the masked ninja vampires inside his secret lair.

The worst fight scenes still goes to the X-Men trilogy. Remember X-Men 1? Wolverine vs. Mystique? Geeze, Wolverine fights no better than me in that scene... he just throws his claws around and prays he hits something.

lol

Oh yes. How could I forget that guy? :lmao:

That's exactly right.

The problem wasn't the fights being too easy to follow. The problem was you can clearly see Bale take his sweet time moving around while everyone waits to be hit. And the fight choreography itself was ridiculous. Throwing someone into another won't hurt anyone.

THE PROBLEM IS KEYSI! That fighting method needs to go.

Well to be fair, Wolverine lost his memory at that point. So all his martial arts training is out the window. He just swings his arms around like an animal.

But yea the fights in the Blade movies are bad ass. The blood rave in the first Blade is still one of my favourite action scenes ever.

X2 Wasn't bad though, i like those Fight scenes. Mystique versus Strykers Guards was interesting, complete with her flipping the bird

What if bane had a boxer style fighting a boxers biggest weakness is that his legs are vulnerable but if bane feels no pain as some of you think he will that will not be a worry and he can just punch away like a friggn sledgehammer

It is pretty hilarious if you think about it. :funny:

Well yea, it just wasn't fluid at all.

In Begins, although the editing was more chopping and the camera work was all over the place, the fights still felt bone crunching and fluid and quick.

TDK it was like Nolan took on board the criticisms of Begins fights being hard to follow, then slowed everything down too much. So it all looked fake and you could see guys standing around waiting to be hit.

Or how about Batman giving The Joker a jab in the stomach, which somehow sends The Joker flying across the room?

Even though I love the Batman VS Ra's fight in the end of BB, I think if it were to have camera work similar to TDK, the fights in BB would be crap. The biggest issue is the fighting method. It looks bad on film.

Or how about Batman hitting a thug into another thug's hand, causing both thugs to be knocked out cold? XD
