The Dark Knight Rises Improving Fight Scenes

If Bane knows Batman is Bruce Wayne in this film, I wouldn't mind seeing Bruce fighting out of costume for one fight.

It would allow a good choreographer to not have to worry about the limitations/constrictions of the bat suit.... and then we can have a crazy good martial arts match between Bale/Hardy.

and it would again show that Bruce is a bada**...

Say what you want, but there's no denying the fight choreography and the stunt men were terrible in TDK. Which is a real shame, because the camera work was excellent. I loved the revolving shot during the SWAT team fight.

I loved TDK fight scenes and they were an improvement over BB's. I actually like the fight between Batman and Joker's thugs in his penthouse because they kept it creative how each move sends Batman to another thug instead of just him preparing after each take down. Plus it actually feels like Batman is trying to keep up instead of easily going through them.

Worst on film "knockout" of all time? I think so. XD

Not even a contender. I love that fight scene.

I concur

Or how about Batman giving The Joker a jab in the stomach, which somehow sends The Joker flying across the room?

I assume you're either talking about the one at the beginning of the video or the one at around :28.

Either way, neither of Batman's hits were "jabs" that sent "Joker flying across the room."

The first one is a major kick to the chest/stomach that had enough force to knock Joker back a few steps, and the second was two fists with what looked like quite a bit of momentum going right into Joker's chest/stomach that knocked him down.

So yeah, no idea what you're talking about.

Please, guys, watch the fight again. I can see how you'd like the movie... but that fight (and the rest of them too) are pathetic.

Some of those thugs look over 200+lbs.... oooooh snaaaaap... now Bane needs to be 3000lbs because Batman already fought some 200+ guys, so Bane just has to be bigger than the rest of them.... snap crackle pop!

I have seen that scene more times than I can count. Your assertions are not going to convince me otherwise three years later :cwink:

I've seen the movie plenty of times, Elite. I'm sorry you don't like it, but it's not my job to convince you. I just give my reasons, which should be sufficient enough.

Well, the hit at 0:07 is a jab and the hit at 0:28 is ridiculous. I mean, seriously, stand up and try doing that. It's not practical at all. It would have done more damage to just mega punch Joker in the face.

He knocked the one guy's head into the gun, and then dropped him.

That didn't knock out either one.

Did you people even WATCH this movie?

Did you?

He walks a guy into another guy... and somehow he hits the deck. What the **** is that?

Oh come on, people are defending the fight scenes in TDK? Seriously?

I guess so... haha.

Well, to each his own. ;)

The goon at 0:10 should not have fallen. Batman slowly walked someone into him...

Regardless its not really the ridiculous hits that are the problem, there a ridiculous hits in much better fight scenes. Its just how bad the fighting style looks on film, coupled with the mooks just up and waiting for Batman to hit them. It's basically - Elbow, push, grab mook, elbow, elbow, grad mook THEN elbow, push mook WITH an elbow.

The sad part is there is some great stuff in there, but its mired in lacklustre choreography and a poor choice of fighting style to look good on film.

It doesn't look as slow as you claim it does. Hell, the good could just be tripping over his own feet.

EDIT: Just rewatched it and Batman kicks the guy behind down. That's why he falls. It's fast.

TheBatman072,

When Batman enters the scene, the first thing he does is punch The Joker with one fist. Same thing happens again when The Joker's about to kick him a second time. One punch sends him flying.

Both times, Batman was not in momentum. Watch the clip. The very first frame we see Batman, he's just standing there. The second time, when he punches The Joker in the gut, he is again standing still.

Not once did he kick The Joker.

Okay, the one at :10. When he's got the guy in the white mask by the head, and walks into the other guy, he kicks him. You can hear it.

Then I see Batman taking one guy, we'll call him white mask, knocking him into the one guy's gun on the forehead and dropping him.

He goes after the guy with the gun. Punches him down, goes after white mask again, back hands the guy with the gun and knocks him out, and then knocks out white mask when Joker sends the one homeless clown mask guy after Batman right before the shoe knife.

Yeah, there's no problems here.

Yeah, I just saw the kick. It's really fast and the video quality sucks to find it.
