Incredible! Ang Lee's Hulk better than Superman Returns!

^ Have to disagree majorly with your first paragraph, i have seen SR twice, once with a bad hang over, and both times the movie flew by, i never once checked my watch during both viewings.

IMHO, I think Ang Lee's HULK was much more superior than Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN RETURNS. No contest. Thankfully, I went into SR with extremely low expectations, and thank god I did. As I found that film to be one of the most underwhelming experiences in my life, and I felt like I was sitting there for 3 hours. Being a Superman fan, I found it very unfortunate that I was checking my watch to see when the movie might end. Despite having a similar structure to the original Donner film, SR was extremely lacking. Great special effects, but thats where the positives end for me.

Hulk was much better. As I thought Bana & Connelly had much more chemistry than Routh & Bosworth. HULK was a different type of superhero movie, as the approach was very much not what the general public was expecting, but ultimately I believe Ang Lee achieved in making a much more satisfying, and in-depth movie than SR could ever hope to be.

HULK 8/10
SR 5/10

Yes and singer stole Hulk's drop from the sky . I was watching superman drop hulk style and just smacked my forehead in dissapointment. At least hulk was trying to do its own thing for the sake of breaking new ground with the first all cgi comic superhero and such using comic style split screen. Returns rips off superman the movie so much, it's ridiculous. I loved the new character, Jason, but everything else just falls flat out of the gate with that stupid girl screaming at a wig. What a waste of 200+ million dollars to see a girl scream at a wig.

You know, I really wish I could have enjoyed SR enough to see it twice. I mean, to be perfectly honest with you, SR was a movie I really wanted to like. I had been following the saga of a Superman movie ever since Bret Ratner was attached to direct, and I have to say that a Superman movie was definately one of my most anticipated movies ever. Unfortunately, that Superman movie turned out to be SR. And as much as I would have liked to have enjoyed it, I simply did not. Honestly, I found it very unfortunate that I was actually checking my watch during the movie, but what can I say? I just felt it was extremely disappointed, and a perfect example of completely wasted potential. If you enjoyed the movie, that is great. In some ways I am envious I guess. I really wish I could have liked it, but that just wasnt the case.

Well and also X3 at the beginning, after Warren is shaving his wings-Kavita is creating the cure...it has exactly the same intention as Hulk's presentation...

To me the best of the superhero movies will be Hulk... the others would be Batman (TB) and X2. IMO it's impossible to compare it with SR. Hulk has much, much more creativity, more drama... as for the action, SR has its style and Hulk has its own.

I think they should officially change the name of the movie to "Ang Lee's Hulk." That's really what it is.

:hulk:

LMAO :)
SR " You Know You Stole that SH*% "
Quote from X-Play review of Madden football ripping off ESPN's 2K series.

The hulk was 100 times better than superman returns. Everything about the Hulk is just better. Superman was a waste of $200,000,000.

Are these just Hulk fans saying Superman was bad or is it people who really think Hulk was better?

I'm sorry you didnt like it, i may be going to see it for a third time myself, but i have never been an avid Superman fan, so maybe that helps my enjoyment.

I loved the movies as a kid, and watched the Teri Hatcher show, and have watched his various cartoons, but i have never been an avid fan, but i loved SR.

Just letting you know that you aren't alone in your convictions of this extremely sad version of Superman.
(*personally, I think "my" watch stopped.. *)You know, I was recently watching Superman 3. And although it was considered one of the worst Superman adaptions of all time, I will give it this. They did give us the Superman from the comics!! What Singer did was go into Superman 3 and give us the "evil" Superman and that's what we got in SR! (*Dark costume, drinking in bars, stalking/peeping tom, home wrecker, ect.*) Where was that bright costume?? Where was that great big proud emblem?? Where was that Superman who promised our President from Superman 2 that he would never leave us/ let us down again???
I won't tell you that I found dissapointments in "The Hulk" film as well. (*Banner confessing that he actually "likes" turning into The Hulk??? And that whole Nick Nolte/Dad subplot>>"YAWN"!!*) However, if I were to pick one film over the other, then "HULK SMASH THIS PUNY SUPERMAN"!!!
Also, in closing, another thing that really detroyed this SR film, for me, was rehashing the same old things. We needed to start over fresh. A new villian, a new plot (*enough of the land deals already*), let Brando rest in piece, and get rid of the brat! (*er...that could be Superman's kid or Singer. Take your pick*) So until the "real" MAN OF STEEL flies again, that's all folks! :supes:

While I found both "Ang Lee's Hulk"(that's what it is) and Superman Returns to be severely flawed movies that only rate in the "C range" on the A-F scale, I admit that Ang Lee's Hulk was the superior of the two due to better acting and the centerpiece action sequence(Hulk vs. Army) being far more entertaining.

I still don't think either of them comes close to Superman1 & 2, Spiderman 2, Batman Begins, or X2. Those are the top 5, IMO.

Well Hulk is in my top 5 and SR is just outside it, as you can see in my sig, i thought both were superb.

Hulk was good in places, as was Superman Returns, neither were great movies though. However, the more i think about SR, the more i warm to it. Hulk could have been so ***** hot! But gamma dogs? That was bad. I think that is the difference really.

Nope, I don't think it's better than Superman Returns. One of the main problems of Hulk was that it took itself too seriously, was too long, the CGI was too obvious and the finale was just horrible. I give it credit for mimicking the look of a comic book movie and the solid performances by Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly.

By constrast, Superman Returns was longer. But despite its seriousness, it was funny in places, was exciting, well-acted, romantic, had flawless CGI, and the time seemed to fly by. At least that's what I think. (I really don't get the hate for Superman Returns here, I really don't.)

I think SR is at the top tier of superhero films, Hulk is in the middle. Hulk was glacially paced and was much too talky for me. But it does have its moments, I'll give it that.

CGI better be good on SR than Hulk, cuase SR cost TWICE as much

^Well lets face it, the CGI in SR was some of the best so far, i thought it was VERY realistic in 98% of the scene's

again, 270mill ... it better be
