The effects look nice, but it does look very generic. The original itself was also pretty generic though (which even Roger Ebert pointed out) and what made it stand out was the destruction of famous places, it also had a great marketing campaign. While the trailer doesn't look bad at all, it doesn't seem like they'll have as good a marketing campaign, kind of a shame imao, a lot they could do to create the sense of anticipation the original got with new technologies.

there is a companion site Warof1996.com that has some cool stuff that fills in the blanks, I think the marketing campaign is going to be pretty decent

I always enjoyed the movie as an ensemble type thing

it was Smiths first big film, but Bad Boys was the movie that made him a MOVIE STAR

No Smith is a slight downer & I'd have preferred it if he'd gone missing in a test flight rather than blown to bits... Though it's still possible if this does well enough they can Sci-fi him back in somehow...
