Independence Day 2? - Part 1

Without Will Smith, who's gonna welcome the aliens to Earth? :(

I feel this movie is really stressing on us please having nostalgia. Which isn't the strongest attempt at selling a flick.

In the trailer, it seems the "fathership" is just straight up harvesting and not even caring to cull the humans and get into fights, a la Galacuts. But I could be wrong. I wonder if they'll have a queen, a la Aliens. There is no chance for peace. They made that clear in the first one. So I wonder how it'll be different without being redundant. Which is the problem for me. I just can't not see it ending in an grand explosion where we rejoice and then roll credits.

Wow. So his character did die. Unbelievable. Thats kind of depressing man. I guess there was no other way to explain his characters absence in the film. Ughhhh.

That's just not gonna be good for the success of the film. Say what you want about Smith's career now, but when people think of Independence Day, they mainly think of Smith being in the movie. He would have at least helped sell it because that's a recognizable aspect of the original. This is just a stupid idea because if we are in the age of recognizable properties to sell a product, you can't sell it as well if the main star from it isn't in the sequel to begin with.

TBH, the way it appears he's killed.... They can easily recon it into him being transported across the galaxy or something to another alien ship, then in the third movie, he can swoop out of nowhere with a warning of doom or even with a splinter faction that don't want to fight earth anymore... Or something equally as cheesy...

Remember, it's Sci-Fi... You aren't dead unless you are seen to be killed and there's a body... And in Brett Spiner's case... Even that doesn't mean you're dead.

Not their fault, Will Smith was the one who decided to leave, it even seems like it was partly due to After Earth.

Will who? :o

Humanity is so ****ed....

DAAAMN, THOSE SHIPS! DEFINITELY not the gigantic lasers like last time! Good LORD, all that carnage!

I'm interested in seeing a world post disclosure and how it evolves. This will be interesting.

I'm convinced that this is really a Votron movie in disguise because I honestly have no idea how the humans plan on fighting these aliens without a giant mecha. The destruction in this movie looks...wow...damn...

The first time it was a Computer Virus that saved the world. The second time it will be a Sharknado that saves the world

Will there even be a world left after this?

The beams they use this time are like causing extinction level damage, so yeah.

The only problem with this is there really isn't anywhere more you can go after this. It's like Jurassic World, there's not clear path after this.

Isn't half the appeal to this film seeing cities get destroyed?
