Indy 5

No way do I want an Indy replacement! When Harry is done, Indy is done.

The 'hide in a refridgerator to survive a nuclear bomb' part had me rolling my eyes...but Shia Lebeouf swinging through trees with monkeys was beyond stupid and ridiculous.
That I agree with. The vine swinging scene was easily the worst moment of the film; completely unnecessary and dumb.

I don't hate KOTCS. The last time I watched it, which was with my dad, I actually kind of liked it. But it does have a boatload of flaws that are hard to ignore. It is true that the previous films had their share of ridiculous moments, some even that are comparable to the notorious moments in IV, but the way in which the older films were made made it easier for me to suspend my disbelief. For one thing those moments were rarely ever lingered on, the bit in TOD with the raft falling was apart of a larger action sequence whereas the fridge and the three waterfalls were the action sequence. It also seemed a little like those scenes were almost played for laughs while the older ones, for example the bridge scene in TOD, were creating suspense and tension.

The nuclear bomb part would be much, much better if it was used just to shield him from the radiation, rather than the actual explosion. It would have fit much better together that way.

KOTC felt far more polished in its cinematopgrahy than the other ones. Kaminski always films like that.

It was bcause it moved to a different decade in the time period. The Cold War. Everything isn't going to feel and look the same than the 30's. I watched all four back to back, and the fourth still felt consistant in how it was shot.

I, for one, would have loved that.

Absolutely damn right.

Nope, sorry, doesn't work. Not up to date. it would have looked terrible in the context of this. It's the 21st century. IO'm not saying go hogwild with CG, use it wisley, and as I said, it could have been used more wisely in the finale in the fourth film.

Like I said, if the first three Indy films were made today, the scene with the powers of God coming out of the Ark would have been CG no doubt. People getting electrocuted? Heads exploding? Faces melting? The prosthetics would be better or they would use a different means to achieve the effect. It's the evolution of special effects. They evolve over the years. If LC was made in 1981, the scene where Donovan transforms would have been done differently. You don't use the techology you had 10 years ago. You use the latest kind. Like any special effect during any time period.

The shot where Mola Ram falls off the cliffside and into the river could not have been done in '81. New technology.

Oh, and no replacement for Indy. Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. No one else can play him.

Oh please. Indy was created when Spielberg wanted to do a franchise like Bond. He thought about doing Bond and Lucas said, "Wait".

It's the perfect time to get a new Indy in here. If River Phoenix were alive nobody would have any problem with it. We just need a good actor to make the part his own and then we'll be enjoying Indiana Jones for as many years as people have enjoyed Bond.

I love Harrison Ford. You love Harrison Ford. But I don't wanna see the adventures of Geriatric Indiana Jones at Woodstock.

I wanna see Dr. Jones VS The Nazis. And for that he has to be young.

:indy: :indy: :indy:

I wanna see Indy vs Cthulhu.

Maybe set it in the tail end of WW2, or sometime during the remaining years of the '40s.

Nazis, in a last ditch effort to win WW2 (or strike back at the allied powers after their defeat), find a certain book and rare, obscene artifacts, stolen from Miskatonic University in Arkham, Massachusetts. Indy is contacted in order to get them back. Meanwhile, the nazis a mysterious island somewhere in the pacific(R'lyeh) in the attempts to raise a God(Cthulhu). And it all goes horribly wrong.

It would essentially be a mix of The Call of Cthulhu modified to fit Indiana Jones.

Bond has many stories that would all be adapted and everyone knew there was no way a single actor could play all of them. It would take years to get them all made.

When they signed off on Indy, the deal was for five films. It wasn't Bond. There were no future stories mapped out, only the Raiders one. Let's face it, fate led Harrison Ford to becoming Indiana Jones. Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones? It almost happened but Ford was chosen after the many times he was brought up.

When Lucas, Spielberg and Kasdan were in the room throwing around ideas Kasdan asked, "Who is this guy?"

Spielberg responded as a "Harrison Ford type." Then Spielberg saw the dailies of ESB and told Lucas he would make a great Indiana Jones. It always came back to him. Same with Han. Ford went in to help the actor do the readins but the guy who helped the actors ended up getting the role himselfr. Harrison Ford makes those two roles his own. No one can touch them.

They definitely need to be done once Harrison is done. I really hope they do make the 5th one because I've loved all 4 and I'd love to see the original 5 movie plan be complete.

I'm glad they waited. All the other stories before the fourth's sucked. They were all weak. Darabont's script was good, as they could have used aspects of it, but I like what we got better. Indy being more experienced, and what happened to him after WWII is better.

2012 was what I expect too. Damn 2012 will be an even better year for movies than next year!

Everything would be just fine if we got a new Indy. It's time for this franchise to turn into James Bond.

We need Indy's Roger Moore.
Yes we do need "Indy's Roger Moore".

What these 2 guys have forgotten besides Harrison Ford playing Indy 4 other people haved played Indy so I say let a 5th guy give it a go.

No.

Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford have always been the team on the films themselves. That was from television. Harrison Ford even appeared in one of the episodes. Harrison Ford is Indiana jones through and through. Young and old, it's still Ford. River Phoenix played a young Harrison Ford in LC.

Don't forget Frank Marshall, Kathleen Kennedy, Ben Burt and John Williams! :D

And Indiana Jones is not a comic book/novel character that can be played by just anyone. So no, no to new Indy.

I understand it wouldn't be feasible to use thirty year old FX techniques today. I was just responding to your question of whether we would want them to if they could. I would have.

Now, the fact that they can't use the exact same techniques as they did in the 1980's, doesn't necessarily mean they have to use CG. Having CG really does separate KOTCS from the rest of the series, making it fit in just that much less. As you point out, practical special effects were constantly changing before CG came along. I just would have preferred they went with today's practical FX.

I think the problem was the execution of the CG in areas. The third act has the most CG, especially the finale, as that could have been toned down. It just depends how good it is and how it's done.

The first two acts? Great use of special effects. I watched the special features and I was even surprised by the amount of practical effects they used. It's more than you think.

Hi,

I bet bet it will be rebooted with a new actor in 10 years.
I doubt that. When Lucas dies, who knows, but i dont think he will allow any reboot while he`s alive. Just what i think anyways :cwink:

Yeah, Lucas isn't going to have either of his two biggest creations restarted as long as he's in control.
