Yeah, right now I'd say the closest newbies to being interviewed would be EBJ and Syn. Only becuase they've been in just about every hype RPG at one time or another.
Or made HYPE RPGs...whatever...

INSIDE THE POSTER'S STUDIO
Season II: The Empire Strikes Byrd

Welcome! Once again to Inside The Poster's Studio!
Tonight's guest is a special one. The first Canadian
on the show. Spike_x1. Spike, welcome, eh.

Sorry it took so long. I was out chopping wood in my
plaid shirt and drinking beer.

As long as you're not playing hockey...now, I want to
jump right in and talk about the character that you
made. Rudy Jones, The Parasite. What was it about
Rudy that you took such a shine to and made him your
own?

I think that as a kid watching "Superman: The Animated
Series" and getting my first glimpse of a guy who would
otherwise be a complete loser in life as he came into
the ability to take the power from others, I just
really got into that aspect. I think we've all had
those selfish moments where we want to take what we
feel we rightfully deserve. The Parasite just seemed
to take that to a higher level.

Did you find it hard to kill off Rudy like you did?
Even though, in the end he did win out by killing
Superman?

Honestly, yeah, it was actually pretty hard to kill
off a character who I had been writing for years at
that point, but I felt that he had been through so
much change, both physically and mentally, that I felt
he was at the apex of where I could take him. He
thought that killing Superman was what he wanted, but
once a killer has killed all they wanted to kill, what
else is left but their personal demons. However, I did leave his death intentionally ambigous, just in case I ever get another story into
my head and can go back to him with.

Speaking of that...do you ever forsee brining him back
into the fold? I mean, we all know there are very few
comic deaths that are final.

We'll all have to wait and see, won't we?

Yes...we will or will we?

...Frig if I know

Or do you? Now, onto some of my base questions. Which
character have you enjoyed playing the most? Parasite
excluded.

All in all, I think that it might be Lex Luthor. I
tried to build off of the template that MST3K had set
up for the character during the first season and a
half of the DC RPG, when MST3K was really ahead of the
rest of us in terms of setting up stories and
characters.

That doesn't count! He turned out to be Parasite!
Cheater. But, I'll allow it

Nah, I took up the real Lex later on, during the
aftermath of the Unity War. Silly Byrd

Yes. Silly me. My fault for not being around at that
time.

Don't let it happen again.

Yessir. So, which arc or storyline did you enjoy
participating in the most?

I think that would have to be a tie between the Death
of Superman (take two) story and the Unity War. Both
SuperFerret and LibrarianThorne were amazing players
to work with; each bringing their own style to
compliment the Man of Steel. Not to toot my own horn,
but the Unity story was originally just supposed to be
a way of explaining the many... ahem...
uncharacteristic portrayals that some
long-gone players were using during the beginning of
the RPG. After that, the plans for it blossomed into
an idea to put a twist on the "super teamups" that had
always been a trend in the game, by giving unlikely
characters a reason to team up, like Batman and the
Joker, and Superman and the Parasite. The Second Death of Superman was just awesome because both LT and I knew where we wanted to end up at the end of the storyarc, but even then, I felt like we
were both striving for the fight to keep going and
going when the two characters finally had their brawl
and let all of their mutual anger loose.
I really couldn't ask for better people to work with.
If I ever write for a Superman title (yeah right, I
wish), I swear I'm going to seek out those two and get
their input on writing a heroic Superman.

That's what you call a perfect segway. Which posters
have you enjoyed working with the most?

That's really a tough one since the RPGs that I take
part in are all utterly filled with fantastic players.
At the end of the day, I think it would be
LibrarianThorne and MST3K. SuperFerret's definitely
right up there too. I think that that's mostly because
the majority of the stories that I've done have all
required me to have a good working relationship with
whomever is playing Superman at that time.

I also have a long history of working alongside
MST3K; from our days as Lex Luthor and the Parasite in
the first season of the DC RPG, to even now as we've
just recently finished a mini-arc in the Create-A-Hero
Game involving our characters at each others' throats,
and something that's still a bit on the hush-hush in
the Zombie RPG.

No love for Byrd man??!?! Oh, we've never RPed
together.

We're working on that, though, aren't we?

Yes we are. Moving on, what's one character you would
like to play most in any RPG? No holds barred.

I've thought about this whenever I read your other
interviews, and I can never seem to decide between The
Tick, Big-Head (for those of you who've never read the
comics, when Jim Carrey played him he was only called
"The Mask"), and maybe Duncan MacLeod from Highlander
fame. Of course, all those characters' respective
universes might be a bit difficult to maintain in an
RPG environment, except perhaps The Tick.

I would like to play Mask as well. And let me say this
"SPOON!!!" I'd so want to be Arthur.

The Little Wooden Boy that The Tick carved out of a
block of wood and had as a replacement sidekick would
be my next choice.

Let's move on, SPOON! Err, anyways. With the new RPG
approval forums, what's one RPG idea you'd like to see
made and survive?

If it could survive, I would fall in love with a
Highlander RPG, but that would require a lot of PCs
getting killed just to maintain the story. Still, I'd
be all for it if someone were to think of a way to
make it work.

There can only be one, after all
Okay, time to bring the interview home. What lies
ahead for you spike? What are we to see of you later
down the road? In all the RPGs you're in. DC, CAH,
Ult. DC, Transformers?

In DC, you can expect to see a regular dose of
villainy and ******ism from Metallo and Bizarro. The
Survivor's going to be meeting a lot of other PCs as
he grows closer to finding his origins in the CAH RPG.
Superman has a very busy schedule ahead of him in the
Ultimate DC Universe, with many new villains
premiering in the next season, as well as the return
of Blackrock and the coming of Mongul.
In Transformers, Jazz is going to be making his way
around civilization and getting a lot more familiar
with Earth culture; and Brawl is going to have a new
twist put on his violent tendencies. And the Zombie
RPG is just going to be a whole lot of blood, guts,
and old wounds opening up for Psychotic Ole' Benny.

That's all I have in the way of questions. Any words
you'd like to say before we end the interview?

Don't drink gasoline and swallow lit matches, kids.
It's not as fun as it looks.

BWAHAH! I've always wanted to be in Spikes mind! O.O

Sorry it took so long. I was out chopping wood in my
plaid shirt and drinking beer.

I KNEW IT! Darn Canadian....

You didn't see the fight that happened after the end of the taping. I fought Jack Bauer with a broken neck and beat him so savagely that JRK cried like a girl.

Well, you were already hideous looking, so having a broken neck with your head flopping around certainly didn't help make you any prettier. :o

Canadian's make me cry. Now that I know Spike's one, I'll never look at Parasite the same way.

 on the Spike interview, as well as the praise that continously get's shoved my way. Is there anyone here who doesn't like me? :D
