The Dark Knight Intensity of Fight sequences in TDK!

the fight scenes barely improved... they are still 'meh'

The fight scenes in BB were better for me. Yes, harder to follow, but more exciting. The fight between Batman and the LOS in The Narrows beats anything in TDK, It's perfectly paced. If you can't tell what's going on in that one, you need to have your eyes checked, or is it your brain? Oh well. As a matter of fact, I'll go as far as to say that the overall action in BB is better than the action in TDK.

Although I have to admit, the first action sequence in the parking lot had some VERY cool fighting.

I loved the fights in TDK. They felt real, tough, dry and brutal. No posing at all or cool looking shots just for the sake of looking cool.

Ive heard people say the fight scenes were done differently in TDK than BB, but I was looking for this vast difference and only saw some scenes without the shaky effect, but it felt essentially the same as BB: quickly cut, kicks flying and punches all over the place, guys tossed around. Same old good stuff.

And that's the way it should be. It shouldn't be acrobatic. It should be straight to the point and most of all effective. It's not meant to look nice or cool.

Ok, here me out....TDK was one of the BEST storytelling movies period. Once again is it too much to ask that our heroes can have decent fight scenes?? With all the hype on the acting performances and the minor gripes here and there (bale's raspy overdone bat voice), let's not overlook that ONCE again batman did NOT deliver when it came to the FIGHT scenes. In BB we fell victim to shaky camera movements during the fights. In TDK the camera held steady BUT the fights looked like they came from the old batman t.v. series, slow, plain and boring, i was waiting for "bam", "boom", "pow"...etc. Hope the fights for part 3 are better, keep in mind batman is on the same level of captain america & iron fist when it comes to hand to hand combat. (there were no elbows, head-butts, knees, KICKS, flipping, locks, sighs....all that training he has in different styles and we get "cowboy fights"....)

I wasn't too impressed with the fights in this movie either, and I could still barely make out half of them.

Improved camera techniques, but fights that lacked punch.

Nolan just can't seem to get this right.

OK, what? Did you watch the club and Bruce's penthouse fight scene properly? Because there were some pretty clear elbows, head-butts and locks in there. They obviously showed that Batman is quite a skilled combatant, so I'm not getting the whole "cowboy fights" angle here.

Maybe i did miss some versatility on the club fight, or they were blurred with the club lights going in and out of the fights. Either way, i felt cheated when it came to the fights, it felt like that was the LAST thing nolan was concerned with. We'll see what happens with pt. 3 i guess. The fights in the cartoon are ALWAYS better....when i think about it...even daredevil's (see the director's cut) fights were better than BOTH nolan batman films.

I'll agree that the totatilty of the fight scenes were underwhelming. However, you can't tell me you didn't enjoy the opening skirmish with the Scarecrow, the Chechen, and the fake Batmen. From the beginning when the Tumbler flashed LOITER and Batman crimped the fake Batman's rifle to when he dragged himself to the balcony, I was stoked. I enjoyed the action, but was dissapointed it ended so early. I was hoping for more similar scenes, unfortunately, the Joker and the other villians didn't lend themselfs to many urban street battles with goons.

We'll just have to accept that the fight scenes will be one of the low-points of this franchise. Nolan just isn't an action director at heart, so it's understandable that it'd be underwhelming.

I agree the fighting in TDK Sucks. Everything is way to tight. I'm sorry but CN needs to step it up on that for the next movie. No wire fu or any bull ****...just beautiful fight scenes and some ninja ****.

One of the most bad ass things about Begins is how Bruce Wane is essentially a Ninja. What happened to that?

I would stain my pants if Batman 3 has a scene where Batman is infiltrating some sort of building. He looses the cape for this particular mission (because let's be honest it's not always an advantage to have that thing on.) He has a Samurai sword on his back and he just carves up whoever gets in his way with Some sick wide shot sword fights. OMG that would be so bad ass.

I prefer the rapid editing of fight scenes in BB. Fight scenes are difficult to get right. If you go for reality, which is what Nolan seems to be trying to do, things will look flat b/c a real fight is very unimpressive to watch. If you want a oh ah movie fight scene it has to be very exaggerated which is something Nolan seems to steer away from.

The Fight Scenes Were Fine! I don't see what the big deal is.

It's a big deal because Batman is arguably one of the greatest fighters in the comic book lore. And yet, we don't have a single live-action film that displays this without resorting to camera tricks and rapid editing. Furthermore, the choreography themselves and the way the fight scenes are shot in all the films don't lend itself to really impress the audience.

So given that context, I'd say it's reasonably why fans would seek a mass improvement in this area.

Batman has a very strict "no killing" policy. Even removing body parts is probably beneath him although I can't say for sure.

But I really don't think that Batman would carve people up. That's the problem. I mean, if he didn't break the rule against killing it could be possible, but limb removal is still something I can't imagine him resorting to.

The fight scenes were real, hard and blunt. But that is batman. This is a pointless nitpick.

Well you have to realize that it's probably hard to move fast in the batsuit. The one for this movie was even heavier than begins so it's going to be hard to get amazing combat from anyone in the suit. With that said I really liked the fight scenes in this movie.

Batman's ninja skills dont have to lead to killing anyone in fight scenes. You can have sword fights with cool disarms, knockout hits and slices to arms and legs to disable/cripple the bad guys. I hope that Nolan has a bad guy in pt.3 like the riddler who is NOT a fighter, thus hiring lots of henchman (bane?) and some bad guys who can kick batman's ass or put him in some serious danger. Batman is rated a level 9/10 when it comes to fighting, just put the stunt double in there on 2nd unit (the action unit) and let him kick ass while bale is in his trailer working on a better "scary" batman voice.....
