Iron Fist Iron fist Costume thread

I feel like he will be getting some sort of mask to protect his identity maybe but not the classic one until episode 13 lol

I just don't think it's happening. If he does, it will be like a 15 second joke like it was in Luke Cage. Because he's still got the beard and he has it through the whole show and in Defenders.

Scott Buck said he wanted this from a grounded, character perspective and not like a comic book show.

but iron fist IS a comic book character

I don't think the comparison between IF's costume and LC's is in anyway valid.

And tonally IF is said to be more lighthearted than the other Netflix shows. Once again, if Daredevil can get his suit then there's no reason IF can't.

There are a lot of reasons. These shows aren't super heavy on costumes and those type of comic book aspects.

So is Iron Fist going to take 13 episodes to get the equivalent of what Daredevil had as his proto costume in episode 1 of his series?

All he needs is that same head wrap that DD wore, except in yellow, to look like Iron Fist.

I'm predicting no costume at all beyond shirtless, visible dragon tattoo, and gi pants.

It will probably be the 13th episode where someone even suggests that he should wear a costume and only in the last minute where he comes up with a design sketch. Because that has to be earned of course. :o

otherwise he becomes a street clothes super hero

Why do you think they'll follow a Daredevil pattern as opposed to a Jessica Jones or Luke Cage pattern?

You mean no costume at all?

Well, because Iron Fist typically wears a costume and it's iconic. I don't want them to follow JJ or LC, otherwise this just becomes any other martial arts drama, which we've seen plenty of those.

I think the point is they want the characters to be as grounded and gritty and realistic as possible. And in this show, I guess the Iron Fist costume and a mask serve no practical purpose to Danny Rand.

Just for example, with Daredevil, even though he got a costume the costume was more a means of protection. Something that would protect both his body since he was taking tons of damage with what he had earlier. So it both protects him and its lightweight and cloth so it won't hinder his movement or his speed.

Now do I agree with all these choices? No. But this is what we are getting. It's kind of like with Punisher. We didn't see him get the skull until the last five minutes and he barely even did anything with it.

I feel like all these shows would ditch the costumes if they had the option.

But if the costume serves no practical purpose for Iron Fist, then as I mentioned before, it just becomes any regular martial arts film.

Because in other martial arts movies or series, other people have been able to do what Iron Fist can do, both in terms of actual martial arts prowess, and in terms of channeling an iron fist.

There's that old movie "Invincible Iron Armor" (which almost sounds like an Iron Man film) where the villain has learnt some special technique to make every part of him invincible and can channel his chi so that he hits with the equivalent of an iron fist. He wore no special costume.

In the final episode of the series "Martial Law", Sammo Hung channels his chi into his fist to smash through a door, hitting with the force of an iron fist. He was just a regular plain clothes cop.

And in Drunken Master, there was that character "Iron Head" who could channel the chi into his head and was able to use his head as a battering ram. He was just dressed like anyone else.

And there are plenty of other examples.

So what sets Iron Fist apart from any of these since he's just like them if he has no costume?

DD wore his proto costume not so much as a means of protection but as a way of protecting his identity. Daniel Rand can do the same, or wear it as a ceremonial garb. Even having that head cloth like proto DD would help. It can still be grounded and gritty.

I agree with you 100 percent, but I'm just being honest about the reality we are facing with the Netflix shows.

But I mean look at all the photos and footage we are seeing. No mask. No costume. He's conducting all his fights in plain clothes. He doesn't seem too concerned about concealing his identity. Also, maybe the bad guys already know his identity anyway.

So Marvel Iron Fist Twitter pretty much makes it official.

These are starting to feel like 70s or 80s shows where they can't afford to make a proper costume so they just have the person go without it or have a budget one.

No costume needed

Luke Mitchell (Lincoln in Agents of SHIELD) seems to be also trying to go for the Iron Fist look: :hehe:

The chances of a costume are about 80% in favor for me. Remember who you are talking about. Marvel even in the grounded Netflix sub-MCU-universe hasn't shied away from costumes. Elektra, DD and Punisher got theirs. Every major hero and heroine in the MCU has gotten theirs. Do you actually believe they are gonna show it on promo pictures. DD's costume was leaked because of a Netflix error.

Danny is associated with his costumes through his whole life. I don't think we will see the collar but no costume at all doesn't fit Marvel's MO. Jessica and Luke aren't so linked wit their costumes. Even with that in mind i see Luke with a yellow t-shirt above. There is no way in my head that Marvel will just completely abandon it. And i don't care what IF's twitter says, i will wait for the show and then the Defenders.

As i said, this is Marvel. They will ground it, remove the cheesy stuff but there will be a costume of some form.
