I feel like he will be getting some sort of mask to protect his identity maybe but not the classic one until episode 13 lol
I just don't think it's happening. If he does, it will be like a 15 second joke like it was in Luke Cage. Because he's still got the beard and he has it through the whole show and in Defenders.
Scott Buck said he wanted this from a grounded, character perspective and not like a comic book show.
There are a lot of reasons. These shows aren't super heavy on costumes and those type of comic book aspects.I don't think the comparison between IF's costume and LC's is in anyway valid.
And tonally IF is said to be more lighthearted than the other Netflix shows. Once again, if Daredevil can get his suit then there's no reason IF can't.
otherwise he becomes a street clothes super heroIt will probably be the 13th episode where someone even suggests that he should wear a costume and only in the last minute where he comes up with a design sketch. Because that has to be earned of course.![]()

Why do you think they'll follow a Daredevil pattern as opposed to a Jessica Jones or Luke Cage pattern?
But if the costume serves no practical purpose for Iron Fist, then as I mentioned before, it just becomes any regular martial arts film.
Because in other martial arts movies or series, other people have been able to do what Iron Fist can do, both in terms of actual martial arts prowess, and in terms of channeling an iron fist.
There's that old movie "Invincible Iron Armor" (which almost sounds like an Iron Man film) where the villain has learnt some special technique to make every part of him invincible and can channel his chi so that he hits with the equivalent of an iron fist. He wore no special costume.
In the final episode of the series "Martial Law", Sammo Hung channels his chi into his fist to smash through a door, hitting with the force of an iron fist. He was just a regular plain clothes cop.
And in Drunken Master, there was that character "Iron Head" who could channel the chi into his head and was able to use his head as a battering ram. He was just dressed like anyone else.
And there are plenty of other examples.
So what sets Iron Fist apart from any of these since he's just like them if he has no costume?
DD wore his proto costume not so much as a means of protection but as a way of protecting his identity. Daniel Rand can do the same, or wear it as a ceremonial garb. Even having that head cloth like proto DD would help. It can still be grounded and gritty.

So Marvel Iron Fist Twitter pretty much makes it official.
That seems to be what they are going for at this point. He needs a costume, or it just becomes bearded hipster kung fu !!
