Iron Fist Iron Fist General Discussion Thread - Part 4

The way I looked at it is that Danny's maturity was "stunted" due to his PTSD. He was able to excel in the fighting part of his training, but the rest seems ongoing.

I didn't really have a problem with that. I think the producer said it best that this show essentially was "Danny's puberty". Watching it through that lens, kinda makes everything make sense.

Also, I'm not sure that they wanted people to think that Murdock is better than Danny in the show. They make a point of saying it when Danny calls out Colleen for using too much energy during her fights and she says Danny is graceful, etc... If you watch the Daredevil show, every fight Matt's in looks like it literally takes years off his life. Not so much with Danny.

interesting about the lens. Last scene with himself and collen his hair was cut tight i think and he looked different or something struck me about him looking different.

I'm assuming that season 2 is going to be announced at comic con like daredevil season 3 was.

Worst.. it was torture to watch all episodes. I dont believe.. mcu postponed DD 3 for this crap. And the guy.. who is iron fists.. completely sucks. Only epi. 1 is good.

I think i'm gonna run through season 1 a few days prior to the Defenders. Maybe i feel slightly different about it once the hype of THE DEFENDERS kicks up.

I still think the show was done poorly, but nowhere near the 16% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I'd have given it 36 or 46%. It was more disappointing then outright Terrible.

Any word on whether Scott Buck will be showrunner again? I bet Marvel is going to get him again as they think he did such a stellar job.

Do you think anyone at Marvel read the SHH threads... or Youtube comments... or Reddit posts... or any sort of feedback from the fans?

And will Scott Buck no longer be attached? His creative decisions were terrible. His plot outline didn't include a costume which should have been in the first episode. He didn't adequately revise scripts and sent them to cast members and directors. He didn't give his stunt team enough time to prepare.

These were all basic things. He better be gone.

Awesome that it's getting a 2nd season. All it needs is a more confident Danny with a lot more Iron Fist abilities and maybe a costume too. Series was wildly popular from what I've heard even with the negativity online.

It also had pacing problems for the majority of the series. Inconsistent characterization. Unexpected hammy/gory moments that felt out of place.

Yeah, people watched it but much of that was due to either backlash against the controversy over casting a white Danny Rand or hype for Defenders to better follow the story arc across four shows.

The show was a mess. Episode 6 and the last four episodes were good but that's 8/13 which were bad. If your show is only 38.46% watchable, then you're doing it wrong.

Also, the writing was so bad that it made Rosario Dawson and David Wenham look bad and made Finn Jones look inconsistent. None of them are poor actors.

Your opinion. I've seen people say they liked Iron Fist more than Luke Cage or Jessica Jones. The show wasn't terrible like it was made to be but I knew it would get treated harshly due to the silly and stupid controversy.

I just want a better Danny who isn't the worst Iron Fist anymore, one who can use both fists and doesn't have to gather chi every single time to use his abilities.

Doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement and that Marvel shouldn't take feedback.

Getting the fight scenes up to where Daredevil's are, finding a better showrunner/writers and giving Danny a costume should be a priority. Maybe order fewer episodes or give the show more time in production to fix the pacing issues and fight scenes since Iron Fist needs more wirework and CGI than Daredevil.

Yeah, I enjoyed it but even so it still wasn't great by any means. I don't think production time will be much of a problem, it will probably get a better budget which means they can afford more days to the time table. The show still has tons of potential.

I think we're a ways off from hearing who will be showrunner but I highly doubt they'll bring back Buck, specially considering the critical reception of the first season. What the show needs at it's core is better fight scenes, whether it's the director's or editors fault (at least Finn will have more time to practice as well as train till then) and a style. DD, JJ, and LC all have a definitive looks and feel that sets them apart from most shows. There's a subtle identity that IF was really lacking in.

Also I really would like to see some more Kun Lun. Hopefully they can navigate that hurtle.

Won't get excited until I know who the Showrunner is.

Suck on that, SJWs. I'm not surprised in the least. Just because it failed critically doesn't mean folks didn't watch it.

I loved Iron Fist the first time I watched it and actually on rewatches I have enjoyed it even more. Most of the people I know loved the series as well and didn't get the majority of the negative criticism.

it'd be impossible to avoid the huge critical failure of season 1. Literally no 1 liked it, but millions of people watched regardless.

As long as Scott Buck isn't back and they give them time to learn the fight choreography, I'll be happy.

Majority of those views were probably during the release weekend.

Love to see Misty on this show. I hope we get a new showrunner

It's a very salvageable series. You chill Danny out a bit more and add lots more higher quality kung fu and you'll have a great series on your hands.
