Iron Man 3 vs Man Of Steel

I feel the total opposite. Goyer and Snyder better stay on for the sequel, or I'll be done with the series. Those two gave me a Superman film I've waited for so long to finally get and I wouldn't want it to be ruined for a sequel.

Snyder can stay, but Goyer should go, the dialogue is pretty half-baked. Iron Man 3 has good dialogue and action, for that it's the better movie.

Goyer gets pretty ham-fisted with his dialogue sometimes. I swear its like he forgets what regular people talk like sometimes.

I'm fine with retaining Snyder. Just dial down the disaster porn and the shaky cam business.

I am totally fine with Goyer's script in Man of Steel. Nothing really sounded terribly bad and it surprises me what Goyer did in Man of Steel than what he did with Blade: Trinity.

If anything hopefully he'll listen to some of the criticisms and incorporate them for the sequel.

Honestly if there was just a bit more levity to the film i think its reviews would have been great.

Goyers script is one of the worst I've seen in a movie, let alone a superhero movie. MoS' only redeeming quality is the cast.

I think Snyder could be capable of better, but the guy has a crappy track record.

The sad part is there were some very good ideas in that movie, just poorly executed. We can argue about Mos vs. IM3, but MoS doesn't have a place at the table when it comes to the all time great Superhero movies, be it Donner's Superman, Spider-man 2, The Dark Knight, IM1 or Avengers.

MOS dominates IM3.

When a film receives the critical reception MOS did, you don't use the word 'dominant' to describe it. Individually, sure you're allowed to love it but on a board like this where most people have a bias, we turn to the closest thing to objective analysis we have and that is the 200+ film critics that have analyzed the film. Iron Man 3 handily bests MOS on Critics Choise, Metacritic and Rottentomatoes. With Audience ratings ,both had A- cinemascores.

If Snyder, Nolan or Goyer are involved with MoS2 I'm out. Pretty much everything I hate about those 3 creators was front and centre with MoS.

The movie is WAY too long (Nolan)
The movie has exposition like it is going out of style (Nolan)
The characters are come across as cold and there is no chemistry with ANYONE (Nolan/Goyer).
The action, whilst spectacular is soulless and boring (Snyder)

I booked MoS for two days (today and tomorrow) I'm skipping tomorrow's showing, I'm not sitting through MoS again.

The only thing I'll agree with. I do think Goyer will listen to some criticism, but hopefully not ALL OF IT, as some of it is just lousy criticism, imo. He had a fine amount of humor, even if it was just little, because I expect that from Marvel Studios...Warner Brother's DC universe can be more solemn.

Team Snyder/Goyer is a fine pairing for Superman

Well....

Man of Steel is in my top five favorite CBMs, lol.

****! Seriously?! Anno, I think you're one of the best posters on this site but I think MoS is a PoS. 54% on Rotten Tomato and I don't even think it deserves that.

I'm not the one to complain about scripts but even I thought it was weak. I thought a lot of the dialogue sounded really jarring and forced. The one line I outright HATED was when

Zod was facing off against Superman, and before they charged he said something like: "Either you die...or I do!"

Even in the theater while they were slugging it out, I sitting their thinking: "Ok, let's play a game and think of better lines he could have said..."

And what was up with Lois randomly making a those awkward jokes about "What if I need to tinkle?" or the whole "measuring *****" thing? That was terrible, cringe worthy dialogue for me. I think the script could have easily used another re-write. That, or get an entire team of writers to polish the hell out of it.

Too bad it's not a piece of ****.

It's tied with Batman Begins on my favorite origin film and even someone WORKING on Rotten Tomatoes said she doesn't understand the critics score for MOS.

And please....piece of ****? CBMs get a higher score on RT when they're the actual disappointments(Superman Returns, TAS-M, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3).

TASM and IM3 are disappointments? In what parallel universerse? In some fanboys minds sure, but there's nothing out there critically or commercially to suggest they were anything but very successful.

You're entitled to your opinion. I put MoS above SR because at least it tries to do something different to the Donner movies but I place it way below the other movies you mention. For me MoS is no where near my favourite origin movies.

In my universe, I find them disappointments. I don't think I was saying what others think, but what I think. Oh man, the idea of one's opinion is blown out of proportion in this thread I guess.

You place it above SR, okay, then why bring up RT's score with Man of Steel when you yourself said you place MOS up higher? Obviously, you don't agree with the critics there, either.

I'd give a slight edge to MOS because the action is far superior. Neither film is anywhere near the best of the genre, however. Both 7 or 7.5 out of 10 type films.

I think they are both poor movies, you're asking me which poor movie (imho) I think is worse.

Not at all. The idea that a better film will have a higher RT is utterly ridiculous as is an "objective analysis" in something that is purely subjective. At the end, it all comes down to personal opinion and if noeld932 believes MoS dominate IM3 than he is allowed to say so.

Terribly bad: Superman never makes a proper introduction to the world, the world only knew about a group of Kryptonians. Pa Kent teaches his son NOT to help people, he even died to make his point. Lois Lane gets Superman's identity really easy and before even meeting Superman or Clark Kent as a reporter. All Smallville knows of Clark's powers. And to top it all: "I think he's kind of hot."

Why do people never look at the average rating for critics overall on RT?

Man of Steel:
*Critics: 6.3/10
*Top Critics: 6.2/10

Iron Man 3:
*Critics: 7/10
*Top Critics: 6.5/10

I think it's fair to compare the average critics' ratings b/c their amount of submitted reviews are the same. (Iron Man 3 has like 250 and Man of Steel has around 225.)

However while the audience rating for Man of Steel, (4.2/5), is higher than Iron Man 3, (4/5), the number of ratings IM3 has VASTLY outnumbers MoS's.

Personally, I just loved Iron Man 3 more. I simply think Goyer's script was poorly written.

I liked the IM3 story a little bit better, but MoS has everything beat in action.

People can bring up critics and trust me before i saw the actual film i did quite a bit but MOS has probably one of the biggest disconnects ever between critics and audiences.

Its audience support is through the roof no matter which way you measure it either financial or through things like audience ratings on rotten tomato or IMDB.

Hell the transformers films made a lot of money despite bad reviews but compare their audience ratings on things like IMDB and RT to MOS? MoS blows them away.

Audience ratings on RT:

TF1 - 89%, 4.1/5
MOS - 82%, 4.2/5
