Umm...yeah you think that's a coincidence? People who play videogames actually have something to compare it to and we've seen cutscenes that look as good as that. That should tell you something shouldn't it? :cwink:

Don't get me wrong, I loved the TV Spot and what happens in the scene itself just not the the way the CGI was used in that particular scene. It looks alittle too fake.
LOL, that's probably why. I usually have a good eye for CG, but the last scene looked all right to me. The weird filtering and overexposure was what made it look fake, I think. Then again, it would be a CG metal suit, and it wouldn't stick out as badly as a CG human, which I can tell from a mile away.

I deg to biffer.

So this is what a lot of us are claiming didn't look good?

I don't know what our standards are...but wow. That looks nice to me.

I just watched the spot. (Since I didn't see the game until the last minute.) It looked ok. It didn't blow me away. I think I didn't want to see new footage because I want to see it for the first time in theaters. I'll probably avoid other trailers if possible. (yeah right)

Back to the CGI. I don't make a big deal about it. Hulk and Lord of the Rings both had comparible CGI and one was good while the other one sucked. It's not about the CGI. That CGI above looks bad? O...kay.

The effects shots in Jaws are horrid and it's a great movie to this day. The effects in Transformers are far superior to those in Jaws. See how little difference it makes? I couldn't get out of the theater fast enough when I saw Transformers.

If we have a great movie around the effects it won't matter one bit how "real" they look. And a "fake" effect today blows away the effects of the past every time....do all older movies with effects suck? The alien queen in Aliens looks like what it is....a puppet. So what?

It was ok. The first trailer was amazing and this one didn't bring it to another level. It was too short and too choppy.

The last shot looked fake. It's as simple as that.

I don't know why some are getting upset b/c a lot of us thought the last shot looked to video gamey, you'd think we'd trashed the trailer, i said all the effects in it bar that one looked first class and that it was a fantastic showcase for the movie, I gave it 9/10, yet some seem to not want any form of even mild criticism.

This is what I always go by, not good... last place out of the movie ads.

That's just a panel of so called commercial watchers who sit their and analyze commercials second by second tied to a computer so they can get their job description in the news. On a side note: Weren't all the films advertised coming out well before Iron Man as well so they've been getting more exposure lately. And Hunter it's no more relevant that the 2 links I posted. I doubt even 1 millionth of 1% of the movie going audience consists of tv commercial graders. Where was the Dark Knight? :)

I loved it and agree with what you say. It's a comic book movie and no matter how many millions you spend on effects if you sit their and look at stills and watch trailers over and over and disect it a 1000 times you'll find flaws or kinks and any armor. When you sit down and watch the film though you become immersed in it. Hell watching the Transformers commercials made me laugh but after sitting through it you adjust to the effects and accept them. Kind of like getting used to Stallone as Rambo at 60. It takes a few minutes but in the end it works. That final scene was just amazing. Favreau is clearly making a movie for the fans and he had a alot of fun doing it and interacting with us to get it right.

The spot looks pretty cool, actually it's more appealing than the trailer!.... But I need to see this movie to decide anything.

I gave it a 10/10 probably because I was shocked at how different it was from the 1st one and the footage (though short) was spectacular to me. I'm sure a 9/10 is more deserving but never being a huge Iron Man fan...that spot sure grabbed me. I was pissed their was no Hulk trailer but the f/x just aren't ready yet and considering people found complaints about this awesome spot...I don't blame them.

I am absolutely shocked that you were the first one to doubt the post by Mirko who actually knows a thing or two about the industry. :wow: :cwink: Why are you asking me about TDK ? I imagine given Ledger's death any advertising will be held off for now, he was only buried 2 days ago.

You don't blame ppl for being upset that others have the right to make a critique ? I don't get that, i gave the first IM teaser 10/10 because i thought it knocked it out the park, i thought the same about this one only they should have left the X360 shot out, thus 9/10.

I am surprised by the results you posted, I would have figured it to be at least in the middle of the pack, not in the bottom 5.

Marvel's reputation has taken a hit with FF:RoTSS and Spidey 3. They are over saturating the market with comics to films, nevermind if the films are good or not. They WILL wear their own welcome and this type of market saturation affects the DC films.

I thought they should have played it conservatively and made Iron Man first and wait for Hulk in 2009. That or Iron Man and something lower budget with a mature/focused niche market, like Punisher or Daredevil.

Warner didn't pull the Dark Knight ad did they Hunter? I don't think it was ever planned but I could be wrong. Also I don't doubt Mirko's knowledge and never questioned it...but I also know a thing or two about the industry not only as a fan & investor, but as a former stock broker who traded in the industry. I'm just amazed that someone can even complain about that tv spot. I enjoyed all the tv spots including Jumper and Wanted but I've seen all of that footage before over and over. This was all new and looked well polished to me.

I'm talking about Universal's reasons for not putting out the Hulk trailer. And the last shot in the IM spot was my favorite part.

Where was the Dark Knight? :)
MIA. WB didn't use their US broadcast spot. People in Canada with CTV got 10,000BC. Why Fox didn't air that, I have no clue.

I wonder if they'll get a refund from Fox. Having an extra $3 million could come in handy for TDK's viral marketing. :oldrazz:

I thought IM's spot looked cool, even if I'm still getting the "the film's only superficially fun" vibe from the footage. :oldrazz: Can't deny that it looks awesome visually, though.

10/10.
just amazing.
now I'm hyped for this movie.
before, I didn't give two d@mns for this

I'm not concerned about where the ad ranked, it seems there were several polls conducted on advertising, Iron Man came in first on two and last in one, thats alright.
On yahoo, Iron Man was the second most searched item last night, that's the first time I've seen that.

I don't think one was ever planned, and yes IM was the only one with all new footage although the others had some new shots, they were however less frantically paced which may have been an advantage.

Fair enough, i thought the concept was cool just the CGI didn't match the vision.

I must say that the CGI in the last shot did look kinda bad... everything else was great though.
