Comics Is anyone else just not a big fan of ASM right now?

Most of that "not the same Spider-Man" talk was of the One More Day/Brand New Day era, which had Pete make deals with the devil and rebooted to a slacker who was more immature than his original high school days. Since Dan Slott took over as the sole writer with Big Time, Spider-Man/Pete has been brought back to his former glory (though, still not married).
Oh alright. I feel like we are being teased with Peter and MJ's relationship though. Since Big Time, which is when I started, it seems like Peter and MJ will eventually get back together, maybe by issue #700.

No, like I've said, it's definitely gotten better this past year or so.

Ramos does suck, though. :o
Yeah his art isn't the best. Whoever did the art for the first issue of avenging spider-man-- Joe Mad- something? Sorry forgot his name-- is crazy talented. His art makes humans actually look like humans. It's just so beautiful to look at.

It's a shame it takes him 18 months to draw a single issue.

Joe Madureira? His style doesn't look human, it's very cartoony

Hmm Yeah I guess so. I guess my personal view is a little different because I mostly see Ramos' art so Joe Madureira looks human in comparison. I mean it looks a little more proportional compared to what I am used to seeing. Also, his style seems in general a lot more round which seems a little more realistic than Ramos.

He's got a manga style. My opinion is that his stuff was better back in the late 90's. His Battlechasers work was probably his best stuff but he fell victim to his own laziness.

Apparently "Keep reading" means buy 50 issues at $4+ a pop costing me about $200. Sorry but opening up with an "insuting" scene of an already touchy subject doesn't warrent that I "Keep reading." Now, if Dan ultimately undoes Mephisto's deal so that they remember the marriage... not just have them get back together but actually remember the proper history and continue their marriage... then I will likely jump back on the book and love every second of it. I just don't see that happening though because Dan's said for years that he prefers Peter single. I just don't see him being the on to undo it, if it ever is.

At the suggestion of Dan Slott himself he told me to give it a shot through the Marvel subscription service. I did this about maybe 6 or 7 months ago. I'm telling you it's probably the smartest thing you can do with Amazing Spider-Man as far as buying it. I was getting the books at about half price and they were getting delivered to my door, sometimes even before they hit the shelves in the comic shop.

Then I recently renewed my subscription. Guess what? Got it for even more cheap and I'm getting each issue at UNDER half the price. It's a wise investment.

If memory serves me correctly, when I was getting my comics years ago (late 80's/early-mid 90's) thru the subscription service they would be in my mailbox on Monday's.

I see your point

When I used to do subscriptions 10 years ago I'd get my comic a week late, which was annoying. And even so, that still would have been around $100 hoping for a story that will likely never happen.

The pric is great though for titles I DO buy. Problem with that though is that my buy list is constantly shifting right now and you need a lump sum of money up front, which I never have.

Maybe someday though.

I dropped the book after Grim Hunt. Read Spider-Island when the trade came out and did not care for it at all. Ends of the Earth doesn't look too appealing either. Honestly I'm not missing the book which is kinda sad.

Just read Grim Hunt. Fan-Fricking-Tastic.

Sometimes i feel like i'm the only one who enjoys Ramos' artwork

♫Three, that's the magic number♫ ;)

7's the key number here. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 dwarves. 7, man, that's the number.

♫7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch.♫ You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby.

Step into my office......cause you're f**king fired!

I think Ramos' artwork is fine...frankly I am surprised that people enjoyed the crappy artwork from some of the other artists on Amazing that cannot draw a realistic face and make body shapes look like total utter garbage.

Like Paul Azaceta?

He kinda started growing on me after a while. I liked his inker and colorist a lot. :o
