Is Candace a "shapeshifter" or "Illusionist"?

New episode confirms she's at least fat, which I find hilarious.

Well not confirmed, but strongly implied since she admitted to being huge and couldn't stop snacking (she has chips at the end if you look in the background).

Maybe she's just a little chubby and really insecure about it? So she exaggerated the "huge" thing.

At least we learned one thing from "Landslide", apparently Candice is a massive comic book geek.

In fairness, Wikipedia is written up by the fan of the show no different to your or I. It's word shouldn't be taken as gospel.

That said, I'd agree with what was said. Candice doesn't shapeshift. It's an illusion created by influencing the minds of those around her. I am however intrigued as to the extent of the illusions. If she can change people's perception of herself, then surely to she can change people's perceptions of anything she pleases. Completely distort the environment. It's a potentially very powerful power. I'd also like to see if she can have some affected by the illusion, whilst leaving others unaffected.

She is not a shapeshifter. The shapeshifter will come later on.

I also got the feeling that maybe she's just a bit jaded and not ugly at all.

I got the feeling like she was a little bit younger, like I mean assuming she's changed to look better it's not a stretch that she would make herself look older as well. I mean self-esteem issues aside she does have a very childish manner to her. I just get the impression that she's big, and she's younger, like teenager.

Thereby all but confirming the overweight theory. :p

And don't flame me. As Russell Peters says, I don't make stereotypes, I just see them.

The more I've been thinking about it, the more I believe that the whole "illusionist" thing is WAY too perfect to use as an unexpected plot twist. I'm starting to think that maybe Candice is just a cover for someone who's powers we don't know of yet. That remark about being fat was probably just an elusion to the fact that the "Candice" we've seen isnt really her true form. I'm starting to suspect that maybe "Candice" is Mama Petrelli...have there been any continuity issues that would prevent that being a plot twist? If so, or even if not, who else that we've seen in the show not displaying powers could be using Candice as a cover?

I'm in love with Candace, in the way of wanting to do so many things to her...

err, but that's just me...

you're overthinking.

Mama Petrilli has been a busy woman these past few episodes. Candice has hard to continually guard Micah. I don't see how that could be the case. The timing doesn't work.

And I do think Candice more than likely isn't as slim as we see. The episode made a point of showing her non-stop eating. Very few people can get away with that without putting on weight.

Either way, I'm hoping Candice doesn't bite the dust next week. There've been enough deaths. She's a character I'd like to see survive through to season two. She could pick up some interesting storylines.

Another thing I've been wondering, is it Candice or Candace?

Candice. It said so when it showed her name like it does for the Heroes in one particular scene a couple of episodes back.

So she's a fat teenaged fangirl illusionist? Cool.

Wouldn't it be great if Candice dies, then she falls to the ground and we dont see her body. Then later in the scene, it just shows some fat girl's body in the background.

That's true, I figured there might be something where the timing didn't work, but then again, she's an Illusionist...if she can make dead bodies vanish and make it impossible to escape a room, couldn't she make someone think they were interacting with her when she wasn't there?

My only logic for this is that Mama Petrelli is somehow working for Linderman behind the scenes in an unknown way, and seems to always know a lot about what is going on. Also, seeing as how Nathan's wife and mother are always around during the regular continuity for election parties and speaches and such, the fact that they are missing from "Five Years Gone" is noteworthy. of course, they COULD have been killed in the explosion, but Sylar killed Candice and Mama Petrelli is MIA. I 100% realize I'm thinking WAY too deep, and that this situation is most likely way off the wall, but I just think it would be too good of a plot device not to have Candice turn out to be someone we all know and don't expect.

Also, Charles Deveaux could be another possibility if he really didn't die seeing as how a preview of the final trailer shows him talking about current events and looking perfectly fine, though that is probably even more of a long shot. I guess my brain is just on overload since I'm usually able to call even the most complicated, plot twisted movie's ending in the first 30 mins, and the fact that this show throws me for a loop every episode is effin KILLING me hehe.

Either way, it looks most of us can agree on the thought that the "Candice" we see isn't really what she looks like.

lol, that's a common feature of a good nerd. As for your Candice theory, if falls short because of reliabilty on vagueness to plausible. It's possible that Claire eats kittens to fuel her power, but until it's said or seen we'll never know. With your theory it's the same, we can't truly dispute because it could always be pulled out of the writers' butts if they want.

It's kind of funny that Candace is some big fat chick. lol.

I guess we can drop the "she's really a fat chick" theory. Jessica/Niki knocked her out and her illusions faded out. She still kept the fine looking body we've all been drooling over :o The left side of her face probably has some sort of disfigurement to it though. It was facing towards the floor so we don't completely see it in it's entirely. :(

If I saw an unconscious Candace right in front of me... man, I'd... probably start running away cuz New York might blow up...

But they played up the fat thing so much. They had her eating pretty much the entire of the last episode. It seems odd they've just ditched that now.

Plus, in an interview someone posted there was talk of the weight thing. Odd.
