She's probably just one of those neurotic women who think they look so much worse than they do. We didnt' get a great look at her unconcious on the floor, really.

That or it's an error by the writers. I still think it would've been great if she got knocked out and turned into a fat chick.

The fact that she was unconcious means nothing. The ilusion over her appearance may be controlled by an involuntary reflex, like breathing, especially if she is been mantaining it for a long time.

I doubt it. All of her illusions faded after she was knocked out, so if she had created her image it would have faded aswell. If they wanted to show her as someone else they would have. Candace isnt some ugly person.

I agree that the writers messed up on that. Probably wanted to keep it a mystery and something for the viewers' imaginations.

In the X-Men, Rachel Summers had these branding tattoos on her face that she got when she was a slave. She typically covered them up by casting the psychic illusion of an unmarked face. Thing is, even when she was asleep or knocked out, her face remained unmarked. She held the illusion for so long, it was like a natural reflex.

Ditto with Cable using his TK to keep his techno-organic virus at bay

And Mystique half the time

Candice could've jumped back to that slim form if it's her natural default illusion.

Either the writers screwed up, or she isn't in fact "huge." Some women have overly critical perceptions of their body and Candice is one of them. If the writers say, "No, she really is a big fat guy and can maintain her personal illusion when she's unconscious," then yes it accounts for the season finale.

There are only so many possibilities.

This is how the writers will explain it. She was unconcious, not dead. If she ever has a seen where she dies then we'll see her true form.

I believe she is so unhappy with her appearence she has focused all her energies on maintaining that form for so long it doesn't take much effort to maintain that illusion.
