McFarlane is being allowed to re-do Flintstones so I think that will take Simpsons place on Fox and the Simpsons last year will be 2012. Then McFarlane will take over Fox and run it into the ground.
Fox really is as bad as everyone says. It's far from unbelievable that they'd take a classic, hugely influential show and churn out a remake under one of the biggest ****ing hacks in the whole industry.

So the Simpsons might be getting it's own channel. Cool.

That would be cool, and Farlane remaking the flinstones, when is that going to be released?
That guy is one og the worst of the industry and some may be surprised but i still find simpsons funny some times.
I don't want to make any 9/ 11 joke but in wikipedia it said that he was going to one of the doomed airplanes but woke up late to the flight.
From here there can be made some jokes against him but as i said i don't want to disrespect anybody

the season premiere last nite was actually pretty decent. had its funny moments, but of course nowhere near the greatness of the first 8-10 seasons. still though, it's a hell of a lot better than some of the other crap on tv. Cleveland Show, Family Guy, and American Dad premieres were pretty horrible.

To me The Simpsons has always been associated with the 90's so it's kind of weird seeing the characters having current technology like Ipad's, flatscreen TV's. etc.

And there are just too many damn episodes that the reruns take a full year or longer to rerun older epidodes, I think it should end at it's 25th season, make it a nice round number and put this dog to sleep.

Well looks like we may find out pretty soon since FOX is threatening to cancel the show if the cast doesnt take a 4mill cut on their pay. And they still refuse to give the cast any deal for getting paid for syndication or any profits that Simpsons make apart from new episodes.

I used to be one of the biggest Simpsons fans I knew. I would never, ever miss an episode. But now? I'll only watch it on TV if it is a classic (read: better) episode, which for me would be the 5-9 seasons.
The show now is just not as clever. It treats the viewer as almost dumb in it's delivery of jokes. Now you have a character say a joke and then have it explained on the screen.
I first really went off the show when I saw the movie for the first time. I did not like it at all and I was so, so crushed by that.
23 years (come 2012) is a remarkable amount of time for a show to run and I can't see any show like this doing it again. I once loved The Simpsons. But not anymore.

2-4 are great seasons too, and season 1 has a couple of classic episodes.

NEVER! The Simpsons is like SNL, just because some writing isn't as good as previous episodes doesn't mean it can't get better. Plus the show is still pretty good and entertaining. I very rarely turn the channel because an episode is so bad. And I would rather watch the Simpsons than most anything else on TV. Its a comfort to know its there. I hope (and I guess it will have to some day) that it NEVER goes away. NEVER!
There was talk of a Simpsons channel. They should totally do that, all Simpsons all the time, maybe bring Futurama in there too.

They have also mentioned, referring to them doing episodes about the other characters and not using the family at all, doing a spin off show called Tales of Springfield that would just be about the side characters. Don't know why they didn't do it. It would have been a good show I think. But they occasionally do that on the show.
It would be an episode about Moe or Mr. Burnes and then you see the family drive by and talk about the adventures they had this week that we didn't see. The writers say its always a challenge to make the show about the other characters and include the family somehow without making it seem forced. Like Moe leaves Springfield to become a bartender in New York, and for some reason Homer has to come along... (just an example I made up).
They also mentioned a Troy McClure spinoff that would have been live action I guess and starred Phil Hartman, but it never happened because he died.
Also there was going to be a live action Krusty the Clown show that never made it.

If the show does get canceled, which I hope it doesn't, I think Matt Groening should do is (focus on Futurama as well as) make a spinoff like Radioactive Man. It could be an animated superhero action comedy show about Radioactive Man and Fallout Boy and the rest of his super friends. They can joke about the superhero stuff like superheroes never aging, always returning from the dead, origin stories, etc. Maybe they can do a show called Springfield and feature the Simpsons family all the time.

They should do a springfield show but with the other characters instead.
And the kids should begin to age, maybe 1 year every 2-4 seasons

A sign that its finally time to call it quits?

I guess AMC isn’t the only network having problems negotiating with their highest profile series. Word is coming from The Daily Beast that Fox has come to a bit of an impasse in negotiations with the five lead actors of The Simpsons that may result in a halt of production on the long-running animated series after the 23rd season concludes next spring. Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Grampa Simpson, Krusty the Clown, and others), Julie Kavner (Marge, her sisters and others), Nancy Cartwright (Bart and more), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe Szyslak, Chief Wiggum, Apu Nahasapeemapetilo, and more), and Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, Ned Flanders, and others) have all been told that they need to take a 45% pay cut, or risk being replaced with sound-alike actors after this season. More details on this worrisome issue after the jump.
Apparently, actors tried to negotiate for only a 30% pay cut in exchange for a small percentage of the back-end profits that result from sydication and merchandising, but the studio isn’t having it. While losing nearly half of their salary would be devastating to anyone with a job, the five lead actors would still make around $4 million a year, and that’s apparently just for 22 weeks of work. However, if they’re going to take a salary cut, I see no reason why the actors shouldn’t get a small piece of the huge profit pie from the billions Fox is making off syndication and merchandising, especially since these characters wouldn’t be so revered if it wasn’t for their stellar voice talent. An insider says, “Now Fox is basically saying, ‘If you don’t take this deal, we’ll shut down the show,’ and they’ll continue to make a ton of money. They’re free to sell it to cable and a second round of syndication, and they figure that the cast has very little leverage.” Because even without new episodes, the series still has 23 seasons to keep running in syndication, and a legacy that will keep memorabilia selling for years to come.
Honestly though, since The Simpsons has taken a dip in ratings and quality over the years, maybe it’s just time for the show to call it quits. Obviously the actors still want to work, but if an agreement can’t be reached, perhaps the James L. Brooks and Matt Groening will decide to end the series once and for all. If not, I hope the studio doesn’t end up winning this battle, simply because they’re obviously raking in plenty of dough on the back-end and not sharing the wealth sufficiently.

sad to see it go down this road, but maybe it's for the best. still though, sucks that the actors who have been involved with the show since Day 1 are not getting their fair share. Fox can go suck it!

The Simpsons have lost their touch. It's not funny anymore... PERIOD.

End the madness.

No. I'm fine with Simpsons ending very soon but I want it to end on it's own accord not get cancelled by the network. Fox this show basically made your network. Let them have another year or two so they can end it well.

Couldn't care less if it ended now. Stopped watching the show around 03/04. After that I only saw the movie and a handful of episodes.

Still watch repeats of the early stuff though. Never get tired of those.

Before I never knew how much in Al Jeans and Mike Reiss colaboration was actual talent. Know I know the wrong one got rehired :/

I wouldn't mind a complete overhaul of Fox's animation line-up, to be perfectly honest. Family Guy's been painfully unfunny since it's resurrection, American Dad is only slightly better and The Cleavland Show is just idiotic.

If I was Matt Groening I would start my own network, buy back the Simpsons, Futurama, and launch a new show like Radioactive Man.

I read that Fox is threatening to cancel the show, not replace the voice actors. This isn't like the Mexican voice actors, you just can't get away with replacing the American voices of Homer, Bart, Marge, and Lisa.

The voice actors should just cave in. They don't have a lot of leverage since Fox will continue to make billions off the Simpsons even without new episodes and the voice actors will easily find new work (especially Hank Azaria and Dan Castellaneta), also their salaries even after the pay cut is still rather generous compared to most television shows.

The show is actually quite funny now and has been for the past few seasons.

If The Simpsons ends, then it ends.If it doesn't end, then enjoy the show.
