Is it too late for Tom Jane to come back?

As much as I loved Jane as The Punisher, I am looking forward to Ray Stevenson. ROME is one of my all-time favorite television shows, and he played one of my favorite characters. I can't wait to see him as Frank.

^ Why? Supposedly it was the script that was so bad...according to him. However what I'm hearing sounds a helluva lot better than the 1st film. I think it's more of Lionsgate not wanting Jane back or his agenda for this character. I loved Jane in the 1st film and I think Hensleigh is a solid director for the franchise but things change.

Time to move on.

Exactly! It isn't fact that the script is bad, it just wasn't what Jane wanted so he considered it crap/bad. From what I keep hearing im thinking were going to get something bigger, darker, and all around better than the last one.

Just in my opinion, I think we might, key word is might, get a boost like what the last one did over the original with Dolph. I felt the Jane Punisher film was leaps ahead of the Dolph version and I think this one could be leaps ahead of Janes.

In my opinion, Jane was great at being the 80's "War Journal" style Punisher. I loved him in the role, but I'm still really excited to see what this new guy can do. I'm really hoping they make it more like the MAX version of the comics, and this new guy looks a lot more like that version of Castle.

However, the fact that Jane walked away in the first place spells bad news for this flick. You're talkin about a guy who cared a lot about the production, and the reason he left was cause he said the script was crap and didn't like where it was headed. That's not good, fellas, no matter who you cast as Frank Castle.
 
Well, they changed the script after Jane left, so I think thats why its not a sequel anymore, its a new franchise. So I think we should just forget about jane, and move on. The movie would've been bad anyway even if Jane stayed on the old script he was looking at.
 
I hope it's not another friggin reboot after just ONE movie. Kinda weird they would call the working title WBF when the first movie was already based heavily on WBF.

I love Punisher but I dunno about all this stuff...I hope they don't totally screw it all up. They don't need a reboot, they just need a sequel.

Until I see the movie... Tom will still be The Punisher.
 
I will always think of Thomas Jane as the Punisher even if Ray is great. Then again I like a lot of Tom Jane's other films as well.
 
There is no actor that is bigger than the character he portrays...at least it's very rare and Tom was great but he didn't OWN the role like Russell in Escape from NY or Snipes in Blade, Ford as Solo, etc...

Some of you are just simply in denial. He's gone. Done. Kaput. Finished. He's not The Punisher he's Tom Jane.

Ah, I understand. While I thought the same thing, I still think Ray will do a great job. Have you seen the show Rome?

No.But i will love to see the show.Just so i can see how good is Ray Stevenson.Do you know where they show it?I know on TV But what channel?

It's on HBO. The show ended, but a few weeks ago they were rerunning the second season. You could check out youtube and look for some Rome clips with Stevenson in it. :up:
