We've heard that Vanderbilt "finished the script" and that so far Raimi likes what he see's. But we haven't heatd anything else. With Raimi preparing to team up with Cruise for Sleeper, will he have time for S-M4? When do you think we'll get an announcement...of any sort from Sony?

There's always a lot of background work to do before any actual filming begins.

Not to fear.

No news could be either good or bad news. Sometimes news is bad news, unless it's good. Then it's good news. It depends, would you rather have no news or bad news?

I don't know when there will be news. Of any kind :/

Oh, I'd definately much rather have no news then bad news, how long did it take to here news after SM1 & 2? Anyone remember? I'm far too lazy at the moment to research the answer to that question, although I am fairly sure that the answer lies here on SHH!

I'm sure we'll get news at one point, but I also think Sam and James Vanderbilt wants to keep things hidden for now. However, I have a feelnig we'll get a big news announcement on S-M4 sometime this fall.

Where did you hear that James Vanderbilt finished the script? LINK me up.

I thought that Sam Raimi would be busy directing another big movie by now, instead of waiting around to drop everything for Spider-Man. Is it me, or does it seem like Raimi is desperately trying not to dedicate himself to another film, to have his options open for Spider-Man?

I think Sony wants a new director and cast, because with Raimi/Maguire/Dunst it will cost a fortune to make Spider-Man 4. Something close to 350M. They're waiting for Sam Raimi to be signed and committed to another film, so that could be their reason why he isn't directing SM4. Just a hunch.

He's directing Drag Me to Hell. there was a clip that someone taped from comic-con with Evil Dead type of elements in it. (Camera angles, scary mixed with horror)

They said 2011... it's going to be a ways away.

Are you sure he's directing it and not just producing, and is he directing that film right now? Besides, I'm sure it's a small film that he could be finished in 2 to 3 months. I'm talking about taking on a huge 2 to 3 year film commitment, that isn't Spider-Man.

i think spiderman will be put on the back burner until after the avengers movie comes out in 2011.

Yes, he's directing, and the film is in post-production.
Okay then, as I said, this is a small movie if they're already in post-production. I want to see Raimi take on a huge blockbuster film that takes 2 to 3 years to make, not a PG-13 semi-horror film.

BTW, where did you all hear that SM4's script is finished?

I could see that, and I think it would be a good move. It will take awhile to get the bad taste of three out of fans mouths. No need to rush, especially if it will be an all new cast and everything.

Dude please, Sony ain't putting SM4 on any back burner, nor do they give a damn about the bad taste in geek's mouths from a 890M dollar film. Like they're going to wait because of a damn Avengers movie, get a clue people, they've already signed the deal for the film with Marvel, and that deal comes with a time limit in which SM4 is to be made. Thus is why they already hired a script-writer.

Again I'll ask, how do you all know that Vanderbilt finished writing the script?

Yeah you're right. I just hope they don't rush something that isn't going to be complete and on par with 1 and 2.

I never heard that it's finished. I think that it's half done.
Oh, I wonder why the thread starter said that it was finished, and that Raimi said he likes what he sees. I thought maybe Sam Raimi said this at the Comic-Con.

Hmm, well, then, I would ike to know as well.

HAHA you just explained every single hypothetical situation on news:woot:

I do try to leave no stone unturned, chase ;)

Yea sorry Visionary, I was assuming, and you know what they say about that. I just thought that I read somewhere that Raimi read and liked the script, but I can't find it in the news section anywhere.
