Sequels Sony is thinking May 2011 for Spidey 4

Yup..... just confirms the clutter **** that will be 2011. I am hoping they settle on a June release... otherwise Cap/Spidey may hurt each other.

The naysayers that believe this is a complete non-issue do not want to speculate until we get something official, which is fair... but now that Sony has insisted on MAY 2011... for about the fifth time... May 2011 looks to be:

TFA: Captain America May 6th 2011
(Idle) May 13th 2011
POTC 4 May 20th 2011 (Disney needs a tentpole now that Narnia is no longer with them so its very likely this could happen)
HP: Deathly Hollows Part II May 2011

Ideally... you want SM4 to take the last week of May... and maybe force WB's hand in moving Potter to June, which I don't know why they would. Not to mention WB possibly eyeing another DC superhero flick that summer as well. If 2008 was jammed... we ain't seen nothing yet.

I believe Disney (or someone speaking on Disney's behalf) has said that PotC4 will be 2012. And I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Batman 3 get a 2012 release date.

I hope so ^^^... I guess Disney feels only POTC has one more film in it. Because I doubt Depp will do more... and there is no POTC without Depp. Hence they might as well take their time.

Well, if they're still shooting the two sequels back-to-back they need time for Lindsay-Abaire to finish and polish up S-M 4 (and S-M 5 if he's contracted for that). Plus, add in pre-production, set construction, etc..

And I think Sony is going to save a lot of money if they start visual/special effects earlier or extend post-production time so they won't have to pay through the nose like they did with the third flick to get the film done before its locked-in release date.

And for now, the only sure May 2011 flick is HP 7.2. And even then, I think Warners might push it to mid-June or early July to avoid the heavy competition. (Everything else including POTC 4, S-M 4, and CA are all in the early, early stages and could be delayed.)

You genereally don't see huge sequels opening on the July 4th weekend... if anything Potter 8 will go to June. I wonder how long filming will be if they do 4-5 back to back. Obviously HP will take about a year to finish. I think its better releasing SM4 mid summer (June/July) and then SM5 first week of May the following year... rather than the other way around. Just to free up room for the other comic book films.

The POTC Movies were ok for me, but somehow I think 2 would've been more than enough. Now there will be a forth? Wtf??

I don't know about that. For Warners, their box-office magic will work best in mid- to late July -- their highest-grossing film ever debuted in mid-July and they conveniently pushed HP 6 to the same weekend for next year in hopes of similar results.

HP8 can easily hold its ground a week before The Avengers on July 8, 2011 (roughly the same time period that HP5 came out 2 years ago). Granted, if The Avengers had been locked in for an earlier date I'm almost positive Warners would've snapped up the July 15th date for HP8 or BB3.

Avengers deserves to be the last big film of the summer... I can't see a movie that would be more anticipated by the masses... even more so than BB3. So it should definitely stick to that date... or move to mid July the following year. I think SM4 should go to mid/late June as well. I hope Sony/Marvel can work something out.

Uh, guys...Raimi stated a few days ago that filming is set to start in 2010. He even gave locations. I know that means nothing in showbiz these days, but it is something.

What news do you guys want? The only big news from here till next year will be that Dunst is returning... which isn't even news IMO... if they recast they will find a replacement only by next Fall earliest... with the majority of casting commencing over the holidays (probably consisting of supporting characters and villains tops), and we pretty much are 80% sure Lizard would be the villain. I don't know what else you guys are expecting... I certainly don't want any spoilers this early anyhow.
