Is suicide selfish?

no, it's not alright... and yes, it's a very selfish thing to think about.

I believe its selfish for people to say its selfish, if they werent selfish they would let you go, doesnt mean its right though if your just feeling down

It takes real bravery and courage to commit suicide.

Are you serious! Suicidal people are cowards who are too afraid to face the reality.

lol you kidding? alot of real suicidal people are hardly cowards, it would take alot of thought to go through the process of suicide, to say that they are cowards gives the indication that you have never been rock bottom before

Okay, lets say that there's someone whose parents died in a accident. He hasn't any friends. His school goes very badly. On top of that, doctors find cancer on him. He would live only 3-6 years. After all this, he wants to keep living. Isn't that real courage? Suicide is cowards way.

What about all the people who have lived through mental illnesses or were alone for their whole life, and it gets to the point where they cant take it anymore?

there is a big difference between the scene kids you see on myspace with the thin-scars from coat hangers and butter knives to the ones who tried and couldnt handle it

Even if they've hit "rock bottom," I still think it's selfish. So many people overcome adversity...there is ALWAYS someone out there who has it worse than you. They're only thinking of themselves when they choose to end their life, but it affects other people, too. Everyone is capable of doing good in this world...suicide is definitely cowardly, IMO.

Suicide is a long-term answer to a short-term problem. I consider it a sin, plus think of what happens is a child or any close friend or family member were to stumble across the body. :csad:

I think this board cares too much about the morality about suicide.

Yes. It is. It's the easy way out. If one comes out of an attempt alive, they might still be psychologically scared. But, they will have count their blessings that they're alive. It effects everyone. Hell, can even make your best friend feel guilty as hell for not picking up on the warning signs. In case you couldn't tell, I was the 'best friend' that felt guilty. The film 'Chumbscrubber' expertly picks up on the reaction one would have through the character of Dean. Thought about it once, but it's seriously not worth it. Just see somebody for help. Chances are what's bothering you now, a year from now you can look back on and laugh about. So stick with it. Live. Because I promise you life will soon get better again.

Also actually currently trying to help a guy, somewhat suicidal, make it past freshman year.

Who cares? In fact, as far as it goes, I'm for suicide, in all cases. The less of you there are, the happier I'll be.

Say that to a samurai!
