As sucky as the lockout was, it seems to have fixed many of the problems in hockey, because all four teams that are currently vying for the cup missed the playoffs last season.

I saw a list a couple of years ago listing sports in order of popularity in the US and Hockey was one place ahead of tractor pulling. The most popular sport was college football.

People hide behind racism. If someone doesn't get a job, maybe it means they were less qualified than a white applicant. If someone is arrested, maybe it was because they were doing something illegal. I'm not saying racism doesn't exist, because it does. However, it is not root cause for anything bad that happens to someone of a different race.

Barry Bonds is being hated on because he's a jerk. McGwire would be under the same scrutiny if he were still playing, especially if he handled media and fans as poorly as Bonds does.

Both Sosa and McGwire got off easy, because they were early in the controversy. Had McGwire or Sosa still been playing, they'd be just as disrespected as Bonds.
