I think there are multiple universes. You never know though. I can be President in an alternate universe.

Yes well he attacked got eaten by rabid squirrels so there he goes. Also, I put up a gif of one of the best scenes in the movie.
It IS the best scene :hehe:

I think that movie's on Netflix...:mrk:

I get all giddy thinking about a universe were all the Marvel characters are real! :D

Do you remember the Marvel Zombies series? Where all the superheroes/villains became super-zombies? Imagine that leaking out into our world. The books said they cleaned out the world of people in a day or so.

I never read the zombies one but I do remember it. Hopefully they don't come our universe

I wish I had cable stations where I could watch reality shows filmed in other dimensions like Rick and Morty did. :hehe:

I wholeheartedly believe that the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is possible. I also feel the same about string theory/M-theory. I am a huge sucker for things related to parallel universe, alternate dimensions, and/or different planes of existence.

Hell, why not believe it?

There may be infinite realities, but that's still not enough for one where you become President. :o

If there is and the theory that every decesion is reversed then I hate the son of a ***** like all hell because at this moment he has everything I ever wanted :(

Or you could look on the bright side, and be glad you're not the alternate reality you whose entire family was wiped out in a tragic car crash, but you survived as a disfigured quadriplegic who curses God daily for not taking him as well.

Dark, but my point is things could always be a LOT worse.

If there was an alternate Clippy , I'd batter that dude into oblivion.:jedi

I want to be in the universe where Lone Star didn't get cancelled.

If Erz 616 is already a blessing to mankind, alternate Erz is either evil or some sort of interpretative dancer.

What have you been smoking Ultron or did you stick your finger on a light socket & bite off more energy than you can consume???:o

I hope not. Could you imagine an anti-matter universe SuperFerret? Just going around being nice to people? I shudder to imagine such things.

I'd like to think there is, so when things are going sucky, I can hope that in another universe i'm crushing it.

Of course there's the theory that every choice we make influences alternate timelines and they in turn influence us. If we fell down on some ice, then we should have not fallen un another world. If we fall down a dozen times on a walk, then in another world you keep almost falling. We make a choice, they make another. The only constants you can influence would be yourself. There is always a lighthouse, always a man, always a city. No wait, wrong thing.

heh well i should hope so!another me who's charming, witty and a bon-vivant, debonair man about town with a goatee!.. cause of course a goatee signifies a evil duplicate like

evil-spock.png

of course since i have the goatee does that make me my twin evil twin...hmmm

there probably is! i tend to believe that one's path takes a divergent turn..like lets say he never married my ^%^&* crazy as bat *()uh i mean lovable ex wife and lived happily after ever! shes the reason i grew this goatee in this 1st place! hehe

I have no reason to believe a parallel universe exists, but it's a distinct possibility.

So probably not.

I read this over at io9: http://io9.com/is-there-another-version-of-you-out-there-in-a-paralle-1683084852

And I wanted to find out what the Hype thinks about the Multi-verse theory. I for one believe in it. I also think there are in infinite number of parallel universes. Vote in the poll and share your thoughts on the possibility of other versions of you out there!
As per the poll, yes. As per the title of this thread no.

There is only ONE version of "me". Regardless of whether or not there is another universe where someone has the exact same number of cells and atoms etc assembled in the same way, he is not "me" or another version of "me".

To delve into this a bit, I apparently look exactly like my grandfather and he might have even suffered from the same lung disease that I did before I was "cured" - but my grandfather was not another version of me. Hell, the "me" of ten years ago isn't even the same "me" as right now. Physically, ever cell has been replaced, I'm bigger, have experienced more and have a different out look on life. So no, there is not "another version of me" in a parallel universe.

In your post you also mention the concept of infinite parallel universes - I'm assuming based on the whole "had I never met my wife, I would have gone down a different path thus a different universe" and this version of other universes I also don't believe because the fact of the matter is that the universe is in fact finite - our inability to perceive reality beyond spacetime is what makes us dub it "infinite". Reality outside of time and space is technically infinite based on the laws of OUR universe, but that's a very limited perception of reality.

As per infinite realities, even if you want to imagine a reality where every single slight influx and variation and mutation causes an alternate reality, there are two trends to follow;
The first is that because spacetime is finite, we'd still get a finite number of parallel universes based on this outlook (high number, but finite nonetheless).
Trend two is that everything in our reality is effected by it's environment and thus nothing can truly be random - including your thoughts, your actions, the weather, genetic mutations, disease, comets striking planets, formations of new stars, which photons escape an accretion disc and which plummet beyond the event horizon of a black hole.... it's all based on other factors - a chain reaction leading back to the big bang. So with this trend, no other universes can spawn off of slight variations because there are no slight variations. You cannot alter the course of time - it's ever moving and all happening at once.

So then going back to the poll, do I believe that multiple universes exist? Yes. Do they all abide by the laws of Spacetime? Maybe. Is it possible that there are other "humans" out there that look just like me? Yes - but then again so did my grandfather, that doesn't make him "me" though. Does a slight variation in the outcome of an event spawn the creation of an alternate reality? No - because time is relative and all events in our universe are dependent on their context.
