Is there too much division in America?

What the hell do animals have to do with people? Oh that's right, we're all the same aren't we?

Yeah, actually - we're MAMMALS - there's a reason we share 98% of our DNA with chimpanzees; came from the same ancestor millions of years ago.

I'm dropping this subject now. Feel free to converse with yourself though to your heart's content.

I won't. But glad to know that you're so in the hole now that you're just going to stop.

Hmm, you're an evolutionist, aren't ya? Figures.

No, just tired of going in circles.

More like tired of showing over and over how ignorant and incompetent you are on this particular subject.

One usually does run from a discussion when it's clearly show time and time again that one only has their personal opinion to back up any statement one makes regarding this topic.

Don't take it personal. I highly doubt anyone here has any notions of "converting" someone like you to a broader range of thinking. I know I don't.

I just find it fascinating and a little sad the way some Americans take the concept of freedom and turn it on its ear to make it fit with their own personal beliefs.

Equal rights for all Americans. Hard concept, I know.

Once the Romans became a Christian society (by force, btw.)

Dude, your "arguments" hold zero water, because you just use your personal opinion to try and argue against facts. You're just showing how uneducated you really are on this particular subject. :whatever:

In regards to the Romans:
Consensual male or female homosexual unions apparently were not legislated against. Although there is scholarly debate, Roman literature of the republic and early empire suggests that men who engaged in consensual liaisons were often mocked as unmanly, but consensual homosexual sex itself was not illegal.

Says nothing of marriage. Just says it was tolerated, just like today.

I was referring to my arguement with him over me assuming that he is gay. I already admitted I made a mistake there, but he doesn't want to drop it.

But I am far from dropping this whole gay marriage debate thing. You guys haven't proved s**t. And we already have equal rights, thank you. This whole stupid debate is over one single word. But you know, sometimes ya just gotta draw a line in the sand and say "this far, no further!". I still want to be able to recognize my own country at the end of my life.

Hmm, you're not a believer in science, aren't ya? Figures.

I believe in real science. But not really your pseudo-science mumbo jumbo which is often politically motivated.

If people had "drawn a line" and refused to end discrimination, Blacks would still won't have the right to vote and be treated as second-class citizen.

You can almost hear the whole Hype! realizing that kedrell's just a backward hick:huh:

Name calling will get you no where. The jury is still out on evolution. It's a theory, not a fact. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. But I'll be damned if I let a theory govern how I live or what I choose to support.

Exactly.

Kedrell, do you realize that voting for Prop 8 doesn't mean this issue will be out of your life if it passes? It will only be fought for again, and again, and again until it wins. And you'll have to keep hearing about it until it does.

Wouldn't it be easier just to accept it, since it won't affect you either way?

And history is the final judge. As far as I am concerned, blacks were right back then. Gays aren't right on this issue today. They're not even close to equatable.

Actually according to Roman writings Suetonius Life of Nero 28-29; Martial Epigrams 1.24, 12.42; a number of marriages were recorded to have taken place during that time.

African history, Greeks, Romans, Ancient Egypt, Asia... the all had same-sex marriages in some form or another. Even today, it is recognized in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Norway.

And nowhere has it been any kind of problem or influence on "traditional" marriages.

Bottom line, gay marriage would not affect you or anyone else on this planet. You just have some kind of personal problem with it.

So my guess is that you're either alone, unhappy in your current relationship, in the closet yourself, or just find two consenting adults doing what they choose to do with their lives to be "yucky".

Either way, you're against Equality for every American. :yay:

Wait... you're history?

My god...

There's fossil evidence to back up evolution.

Depending on how you interpret the data.

There's philosophical evidence to back up creationism as well. Neither is proof.
