It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's the Superman Costume Thread! - Part 1

I just have to post this. I know, I know, we've all seen it before but this is the first Superman suit that I've ever actually been excited to see on screen.

Okay, Sony, this is how you revamp a superhero suit. I loved that new design for MOS when I saw it, as opposed to the disgust of seeing Andrew Garfield in that blue-and-red basketball Spidey suit.

It still retains Superman's hallmarks while ditching the more sillier aspects (like the trunks) in favor of more dynamic elements. Maybe Sony should've brought in James Acheson and Michael Wilkinson to design the new Spider-Man suit instead of Kym Barrett...

People like to diss Dean Cain's suit but the one of later seasons has the best cape attachment too besides having the big long cape that is quite influential on the MOS suit too.

That does look pretty good. It's the shield that always bugged me.

It bugged me too. Ugh...

That suit had so much potential back then. The cape, the colors, even the fabric they used. I just wanted a less cartoony design for the S on the shield; I wanted them to give him a more metal belt buckle (make it circle) and give him something closer to a leather bel; and the boots, I would have preferred something along the lines of the MOS boots. Form fitting, not those low heel cowboy boots. I loved the color of them though.

It's a helluva drug.... :cwink:

and btw, I take it back. Kirk Alyn's cape attachment was pretty dead on comics accurate. Reminds me of MOS actually:

that looks a little too velcroed on for my tastes. One of the early versions of Dean Cain's suits had a cape attachment like that and looked about as awkward. Regardless of comic accuracy I generally prefer the tucked in look, although I'm sure that's how the cape in the comics is drawn at times.

It looks like it was stitched onto the sweater.

Sorry to say but Cain looked ridiculous in that suit, dude was tiny and not imposing in the slightest.

Actually I think he was fairly buff, but the suit is hideous as hell and he looked like an idiot in that thing.

I thought Cain's suit was pretty good for a TV show in the early to mid 90's.

Not nearly good enough. All it did was make Superman look even more silly, both suit- and story-wise.

Dean Cain never looked good in the suit, the suit itself was not good.

* Saturated colors like Blue and Red and Yellow do not look good.

* The "S" shield design and size was all wrong.

* Shiny suit material looked cheap.

* His Cape attachment looked clunky.

* The Belt was terrible.

* Dean Cains' hair style for Clark Kent should have been used for Superman and that of Superman should have been used for his Clark Kent.

Cant believe you left out the red rodeo-boots.

I never thought of that. God, that makes so much sense.

I agree, though you have to agree that the early Dean Cain attachment was a ton worse then Alyn's. The MOS cape isn't tucked in either.

If they could replicate Byrne's cape attachment with it still looking like it's tucked into the shirt, I think it would be the defining look.

I really like the costume from the upcoming fan film Superman: The Golden Child.

Were there any MOS costumes this Halloween that anyone has seen?

That suit means business. Still cant wait to actually see it in the movie since it looks so different in each new shot.
