I don't know if its a seperate stealth suit, or if its the same suit but recolored (Action Comics revealed that), but it's definitely influenced by the black suit from Death and Return of Superman. I gotta say, even though I like the red and blue, I do like black and silver as well. It still works for Superman, if used the right way. This variant is actually neat, I would like to get this as a toy as well next to the normal red and blue one.

Its well established canon that Earths (type of) star emits a special radiation that endows Kryptonians (and other red star natives) with superhuman abilities. Thats the basic, sci-fi conceit. So the fact that the Sun is informally labeled as yellow (even though its white) is irrelevant. The color yellow isnt a magical property that gives Supes his powers (otherwise hed lose them indoors or whenever a stained-glass window changed the Suns apparent hue). Its the unique/invisible special radiation that does the job.
