I love Superman, think the character is fantastic, have been obsessed with him since I was a little boy. The red trunks are ridiculous, at least in this generation.

I second that opinion on the red trunks being ridiculous, now at days.

Trunks or no trunks. Superman has never before looked as cool, as he does in MOS. It's freaken badass!

I don't agree....if done right, it would look fine. If not, then yes....it would look down right ridiculous. I love the design we got with Man of Steel...I don't think they could have done a better job.

I think this may be a good example of how Snyder has been able to make "briefs" work for a modern day outfit:

By "modern day" do you mean a story that takes place in 1985? :D

I think it could have been done in a way that had a brief like red section in the waist area. I just can't picture anything close to a traditional version of the briefs fitting with the rest of the costume.

It was set in the 80's and given the follies of 80's fashion, these costumes get a pass

Given the general lack of news, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up posting the lyrics to the whole damn song, line by line.

Now all they need is a smoky room with the smell of wine and cheap perfume. For a smile they can share the night. It goes on and on and on and on... :o

We could always try another song, how about this one: Every night in my dreams, I see you I feel you, that is how I know you go on!

Far across the distance and spaces between us, you have come to show you go on...

Near, far wherever you are... :p

The watchmen costumes (not all though) we're essentially a parody of superhero costumes mainly from the 90's. That shumacher aesthetics with the nipples and codpieces etc.

Can you read my mind?? Do you know what it is you do to me???

I disagree. While I like MOS, it is not the best Superman costume ever imo.
By the way, what happened to the J in his hair?

I like it. My first reaction was my jaw hitting the floor.

I was going to say... Wasn't Moore's Watchmen basically a deconstruction and critique of the genre? So maybe not the best precedent to cite.

Yes moore's watchmen was very much that. Snyder was actually quoted as saying he sort of wishes his watchmen came out after the avengers did and that it would have had a lot more relevance in that regards and i totally agree.

I think the film was a few years too early.

This looks more of a protection belt, like what boxer's wear! I feel, and as this picture states, in my opinion, that it would far suit batman, than superman - as the rest of the costume looks like padding, armour etc unless they made it look like really thin sheilding, in sections - maybe like dark red briefs, with metalic metal cup at front and side sections?

Don't worry Superman will be in that grey area along with Batman where his live-action costume won't have trunks, while he will have them in other media like animation.
