One thing with Eisenberg is: I think Zack Snyder and WB have earned a little trust for fans to say: "Hmmm, not sure, but let's see."

I disagree. They have the fans' trust, but they didn't earn it. I actually think Man of Steel might have been worse than the Tim Story Fantastic Four movies. I certainly hated it more.

Good grief. It's not just the voice. Who looks at that and says that's Ben Grimm? The guy is like a stick figure. I guess the only good thing is he'd only be in that form for so long but still. Total miscast.

That might be an interesting spin but in the comics it's implied that their powers reflected their personalities. Reed is always reaching, exploring. Sue feels unappreciated and overlooked. Johnny is a hothead. And Ben Grimm is a bruiser.

This is just not how I would have ever pictured him. I actually would've preferred Terry Crews for the role.

You do realize that one's body type and musculature are fluid in nature, right? Like, a guy can eat lots of protein and lift really heavy things for a couple of months and then he will be physically larger than he was before he started.

Yeah but I'm just not seeing it right now. Plus some body types respond better than others. Chris Hemsworth bulks up easily. Chris Evans has a brutal time with it. And even with the added mass he still looks slim. But Jamie is a featherweight compared to Evans.

Captain America's slimness or bulk in the comics isn't exactly consistent, it carries from artist to artist, and I'd say Evans fits in perfectly with the more realistic depictions of Cap's bulk in the comics.

Comics characters are often drawn with exaggerated muscles that no human being could ever have. You're never going to get an exact copy of the body type from the comics in live action (unless you get a bodybuilder or a pro-wrestler, but they're usually not the best actors).

While Ben has typically been drawn fairly muscular and bulky, he does also need to fit in a cockpit. Bell probably has a more 'realistic' build for someone who played college football (obviously not a lineman) and then became a fighter/test pilot, but his build certainly doesn't match the larger frame Ben is typically drawn with.

I understand concessions have to be made. I'm cool with it and I love Evans in the role so it's all good. But my point is it's not so easy to bulk up like you say. I really really have a hard time seeing Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm. I never felt that way about Evans. I had my doubts but after watching Sunshine I knew he could pull it off playing Cap.

But the fact is, he was an Air Force pilot and an astronaut, two careers that generally require you to at least have a master's degree in engineering. Reed will lose him with all of the weird theoretical physics talk, but he should know a fair amount of science in his own right.

I see the point you're trying to make but honestly that quote doesn't make me think "Ben Grimm" in any way.

Wasn't the scene in which Reed examines Ben in the first film a variation of a UFF scene?

The more I think about it, the more I can remember UFF influences in the previous FF films - which means that if Fox really wants to 'reboot' this one and distance themselves from previous films, they should stay away from UFF. Right?

that seems to be a coincidence. we just don't know enough about this to say that the ultimate universe informed this vision of the FF. i see more evidence that they've just decided to do their own thing. and that makes sense if you think of the movie-verse as similar to the Ultimate Universe; in which they take the original idea and spin it.

The thing is going to be CGI right? So the actual size of Bell doesn't really matter if after his transformation he almost a foot taller and 200lbs heavier.
