Pokémon It's the Pokemon thread - Part 1

I finally beat the Elite 4 in Black and transfered all 493 over from my copy of Heart Gold.

For some reason I had a lot of trouble with the 4 this go around, I didn't have any dark pokemon or moves and a lot of the Elite 4's are weak to dark. I don't know, the variety seemed more off than it usually is in these games. Serperior was basically useless throughout the entire thing.

Now onto endgame stuff and starting up my copy of White to catch the rest.

Yeah, I remember having a bit of a tough time against the Elite 4. IIRC, Chandelure was my only Pokemon that knew a Fire type move (which wasn't strong), Ghost move, and Dark move. Yet it was slower than the Pokemon I needed it against and it's pretty frail.

I didn't really like that you [blackout]didn't get to fight the Champion at that time since you have to wait until you have Pokemon in the 80's to stand a chance of beating him.[/blackout]

I have ignored Pokemon, up until last year, when I found a copy of Diamond for DS under the front seat of a rental car I was driving. I didn't even play it for months, because I was pouring all of my time into other RPGs. Once I started playing, I got hooked.

I'm really looking forward for the inevitable Pokemon 3DS... as well as a legit Pokemon game on the WiiU... I'd LOVE that.

1. Start in any region and with the regional starter of your choice
2. Follow the path to become a League Champion, then regional champion.
A. Leaders and trainers in other regions use higher level pokemon/better strategies
3. Join an evil team and take control of it or act as a grunt.
4. Become a Gym Leader
5. Deal with realistic scenarios, such as a neighborhood plagued by Haunters, Drowzee, or lakeside towns ravaged by a pissed off Gyarados
6. Utilize the creepier Dex entries in coming up with scenarios. ex: Cacturne that follow you through the desert, waiting for you to grow weak and vulnerable...
7. Religious groups dedicated to Arceus, Mew, Mewtwo, etc.

Keep on dreaming?

yeah, it's about time a pokemon game allows us to become a gym leader. I'd love a game where they specifically tailor a skill for you to earn, Master, Gym Leader, Breeder, etc... because right now you really have no choice but to become a master. I'd love to do that, but then create my own gym and design it etc... and it'd be really cool if it was all online, where other players could battle you in your gym. Or if you're a breeder, you can buy and sell pokemon eggs or something, truly adding very unique pokemon stats for people to get

Nintendo seems hellbent on making every console Pokemon game a "Colosseum" type game (I do miss the Stadium games) with a meh-story mode. Not that it'd be any different, but I'd sooner hold my breath for the just as unlikely Zelda Online game than a MMORPG Pokemon game.

The Colloseum storylines involve dark pokemon , right? To me, that sounds intriguing if you think about what a malevolent pokemon could do IRL with its attacks. Unfortunately, you're stuck with either Umbreon or Espeon as your starter and companion, right?

I LOVED the Colosseum's story and gimmick of stealing back corrupt Pokemon with Shadow-type moves and having to purify them. I DIDN'T like the characters, the pacing of the game, the location, the lack of wild Pokemon, or the fact that Double Battles were mandatory. You know had that been a portable that only focused on the story mode and didn't have a half-assed Battle mode it would have been better.

So I added Poekmon Black to my game queue on Gamefly, and even though I didn't really want it and placed it last on my list, they sent it to me anyway. I hated how I had to replay the start twice because they don't let you overwrite saves while in-game. But after I finally got out of the opening stuff, I started to realize that even though its pretty much the same formula, it's still as addicting as the other ones I've played. The only challenge has been trying to read up on all these new pokemon and figuring out which types and teams to use. But I'm really liking it and have pretty much played it non-stop for the past day.

ok i'm thinking of getting black/white but being stuck in the past is still want to play with the kanto starters so will this idea work

i borrow my mates black which has been completed(beat the elite 4) and transfer the 3 starters from either FR/LG/HG and then simply trade them over to my new copy of either game.

Haven't gotten very far in B&W so far but after finishing a Gym in each City I'll alternate to the other game so I can catch up. A friend recently lent his Celebi to me so I can obtain Zorua but found that I could only use the one Celebi in just one game, and not both!

Will attempt to catch Zoroark sometime this week....

UPDATE: Didn't bother obtaining Zoroark that way as luckily the Special Event Lv.50 Zoroark containing the move Snarl was available at participating stores throughout Australia so I took both games in to get them transferred over. I've always felt a little embarrassed going in for my age but I mustered up the courage to finally get it done!

And as for the Celebi Zorua trick, I'll just breed another Zorua now that I remember you can do it that way!

Currently watching the Black and White cartoon and funny how the male vocalist on the Theme Song sounds like either Matt or Trey from South Park whenever they sing their songs!!

The english theme for Black and White is possibly one of the worst things my ears have ever had the displeasure of listening to.

Makes me miss the good old themes from back in the day.

God, I hope Nintendo is bringing something fresh to the franchise for the first Nintendo 3DS Core Pokemon games.

Producer of the Pokemon Games Junichi Masuda said in 2009 that Black and White Versions would bring MASSIVE gameplay developments and changes, which was, lets face it, a flat out lie.

Still the same concept. You pick to be either boy or girl, you have your fire, grass or water starter pokemon, then you wander arround the region, through all kinds of citys, forests etc, catching and training more Pokemon, fighting trainers and gym leaders, fighting an evil crime syndicate, catching one legendary pokemon. finally Elite 4 and Champion. Thats it.

Pokemon has to get reinvented in order to keep it interesting. Nintendos Game Freak section has to stop to reduantly sell the same game to audiences every few years.

Also they REALLY have to stop with that disgusting pixelated graphics they had in Black and White.

If having motion loops for the pokemon causes pixelation then DON T DO IT. In terms of Graphics Black and White was a step in the WRONG DIRECTION. They really have to improve on the graphics for the first core pokemon games on 3DS.

Hell, I even say they have to stop with the SPRITES-based graphic. lets move on to POLYGON finally. Have an better Battle screen in which you see the pokemon actually FIGHT. Have it full 3D.

And make the games more story driven, like a good manga/ anime story.

Thats what I want for the franchise.

Black/White was a step in the story-driven direction. I think one of the Plasmas even mentioned Team Rocket, which was cool. A DS/3-DS remake of Red/Blue would be awesome. They could totally re-do the Rocket storyline.

Rockets using their pokemon to get info out of their prisoners, having dirt on some of the guardsmen in the gatehouses to Saffron City, thus locking down Saffron. A sidequest where you deal with the Rocket agents watching the families of the gatehouse guards, thus allowing you to get into Saffron City...these were just some of the ideas I had on adding story to the first games.

A remake once is fine. I'd like a remake of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. That added a lot from GSC but I'd really like to see the improvements from DPPt included in it (even FR/LG had stuff that improved). It's hard to replay it, IMO, because it added a lot but compared to the newer ones is still lacking. The previous 2 generations at least have a nostalgia factor.
