The series honestly has evolved a lot since Ruby and Sapphire (sapphire being my second favorite of all time behind Crystal). The story has gotten better. Battles have become more epic. The level design has gotten better as well.

If you don't have one buy one. Pokémon X/Y will be the cherry on top for your purchase.

Yeah? What did they do with the story in the newer ones? I don't remember any of the ones I played having much of a story.

Uh.....N? The idea of a Pokémon King and Ghetsis trying to prove to the world that Pokémon deserved to be freed and not made "slaves" by humans, that ring a bell?

N truly believed that and it was interesting to hear it from characters where I've heard real people mention that. Black and White took the story beyond the team trying to take over the world standard and added some real drama into it. They almost won, that's more than any of the others could truly say.

Yes, the story did take some new cues, but in the end...its still eight gyms, evil organization(s), Pokémon League...the same formula.

I don't know what Nintendo CAN do to shake the core games up to be honest, but I wish THEY knew so we could get something that feels fresh.

Whatever. Story always takes a backseat to the game play in these games. I really don't care about story at all. Beat the gyms, beat the evil Team Rocket stand in. Ho hum.

edit: cypher posted first. I don't think there is much for Nintend to do to shake up the story without simultaneously shaking up the game play. Most of the reason the first Pokemon game's story was so interesting was because of how new the world was. Now that we've been exposed to the Pokemon world for 20 years, it would take something drastic to pull me back into the story.

Hm, I don't think I've heard of this before. Sounds interesting. Which games was this in?

I feel relatively the same. Being out of the loop with it for so long, too, makes me not care that much about the rehashing, either. But it'd be cool if they did attempt something else. Maybe have a game where there's another focus outside the gyms. I don't know, it's hard to say what would and wouldn't work when so little has been tried.

But collecting. That's what it's all about. That's the heroin.

It's the leveling up for me. I stopped trying to catch 'em all when there started to be 9,000 different pokemon and half of them were stupid.

And Voltorb is a BALL. Die inanimate object based Pokemon, die! :jedi :woo

:o

Have they run out of bugs to base Pokemon on? There has to be a few out there they haven't used, right?

Right? I mean, how many Pokemon are there now? *Going to google...*

Okay, nevermind.

I don't think pokemon could ever run out of Bugs, Fish, Plants, or Birds to base their designs off of... there's more of those than any other animal on earth.. and what seems like almost every day the discover a new one.

Still looks silly.

Voltorb & Electrode are passable since they're first generation.

The thing that made them passable for me is that their design actually served a bit of a purpose. Picking up a Pokeball I thought contained an item but turned out to actually a Voltorb was exciting.

And if I remember correctly, there's actually a theory that Voltorb were man-made in a Pokeball factory.

That right there is the problem with the newer games. Majority of the Pokemon imo after Gold/Silver Gen weren't really explained too much. I thought the first 2 gen's incorporated many of the pokemon into the story, and side stories that explained more depth to each pokemon. Hell look at all the ones in Red/Blue

-Clefairy
-Voltorb
-Diglet
-Snorlax
-CueBone
-The Legendary Birds
-Mewtwo
-Mew

just to name a few...

I don't feel like any game after gold and silver just sorta spat pokemon out and didn't spend any time with extra story about many of them.

inanimate object pokemon should all be explained by ditto's (who if you believe what red/blue are inferring are genetic mistakes of Mew, considering they were found around the destroyed cinnibar island) Ditto's who transformed into items, and got stuck and began breeding/multiplying in that shape. And call it a day.

That would work, but I'm not a fan of a catch-all explanation like Ditto. I'd rather they have the care and dedication to explain them all, like they did the first examples you gave. They all had interesting stories behind them.

problem is though that there's many "inanimate object" pokemon at this point... why are they that form? especially ones that are obviously man-made objects. Ditto makes sense, unless people can now easily make pokemon and made them look like that...

Yeah, you're right Ditto is a good explanation for that. I just wish there were fewer man-made looking Pokemon to eliminate the need for that kind of explanation.

Honestly, I wish we would get a version that would allow players to have something better and exciting to do post-game (after defeating the pokemon league). I think the only versions that offered somewhat of a long adventure to continue on with after defeating the league (for the first time) were Gold/Silver, and to a lesser extent, Sapphire/Diamond/Pearl.

I agree. I beat the gyms and elite four pretty quickly in most of the Pokemon games. I need more to do!!!

I think they should make a pokemon game called...

"Pokemon: Region" basically there's several versions you can buy, but you can transport your character to each game (like your pokemon), and traverse in each of the known regions. Pokemon: Kanto, Pokemon Johto, etc...

Or just make one game that has all the regions in it. I'm pretty sure 3DS cartridges are big enough to hold that. If they're not, put in on Wii Virtual Console or something.

I'd like to see it where your character and Pokemon are stored to the hardware and/or cloud to make trading between your games easier.

Yeah. But my idea makes nintendo more money and gives each player a more unique experience by having everyone come from different regions

Personally I'm waiting for Nintendo to make a Pokémon Console game that's just as epic as the handhelds but does things that the handhelds can't.

Here's my idea.

Nintendo gets enough of my money. **** their bottom line, they can put it all in one game. I don't want to have to buy 5 different games.
